We seemed nailed on to get him too, along with Roberts, so god know's what happened there. I really liked what I heard about him, so think that's a great pick up by Lincoln!

It would make me laugh if Lincoln offered a £1 loan fee to Brighton knowing that we can't match it.
He'll probably start every game for us maybe not for you, that could have been the deciding factor.
Big thing is this the lower leagues loaning in young keepers, bloated premier league squads, these lads are mostly wasting their time at these clubs are the vast majority will never even make the bench nevermind start a game.

I wonder how many teams rely on loan goalkeepers in this division? We have for the past 2 seasons, you have Cumming back, and i know Portsmouth are after a keeper. Anyone else?
It seems to be the done, ignore your own and loan them out and loan in a kid who'll never play for that club.
These youngsters are wasting their time, we loaned Hesketh in , he was 24! Why don't these lads look to leave by the time they're 21 and drop down a division and work their way back up?
We've done OK from those brave enough to do it.

You did have a decent squad last season and as far as I can gather have'nt really lost any players. But with the step up and a good will factor of having new players -- I can see a bit of a struggle for you.
We’ve lost Dawson in goal but otherwise kept anyone we’d want to keep. However, the squad depth just isn’t there is some positions. We need a first choice ‘keeper, a CM and 2 strikers minimum plus a LWB would be good too. So IF Taylor can pull out some decent signings in the next 10 days, we’ll be fine I’m sure. I just worry that a couple of injuries would see us looking very light.

Moomin, I assume the reason is that you are beaten to the punch by those with bigger budgets. Maybe you are trying to emulate Spurs from a few years ago when they bought no one in. Have you lost many, or is it essentially the same squad as last year? Sure you’ll have some happier news soon.
Taylor keeps his cards close to his chest, but we can assume we’ve missed out on a few players already. Basically he’s said he wants to utilise the loan market and go for players which have had previous good spells. We’ve been linked to Nathan Bishop plus Finn Azaz at Villa and Matty Longstaff at Newcastle have been mentioned online. How true that is, I don’t know.

that was the rumour, but I’m pretty sure he would’ve started 80% of the games - he’s only got Wildsmith to beat out so would’ve been a good competition, but one he should’ve won.

I guess we will see who we bring in, but would’ve been happy with the young lad from Brighton for sure!

Cannot comment on the other keepers but Trafford who we have loaned signed a new 4 year deal with Man City just last week.
Doubt he will ever play for City but will have a good career
He is 19 got the security of that contract and will play first team football for most if not all of that 4 years all be it out on loan

Based on what? You do a big disservice to Joe there.

Ciaron Brown? Anyway, you have nailed down some good players on longer/new deals whereas most of us at our level have lost our best players.
He’s been on loan since January so I think the feeling is it’s not a ‘new’ signing in the truest sense.

One concern levelled at our club right now is the lack of Director of Football type person to get transfers over the line. It appears we have lost out on a number of targets despite an increase in our budget by circa £1 mill. Is anyone else in the same boat?

We’ve been trying to sort a keeper out whilst in Spain. Rumours seem to suggest it’s Jamal Blackman and that one has been doing the rounds recently.

We also have a defender from Watford on trial Derek Agyakwa who’s been on loan in Italy, seems to have Spain along with Rory Holden who seems to be making good progress.

Mikel Mandron has popped up as a rumour, we need a couple of strikers as back up to Wils and Procs and got a few in an awful side last year, have to get our quota of ex Crewe in I guess.

Nicky Cadden to Barnsley confirmed.
Nicky was one of last season's most exciting players. Every time he was on the ball I expected the opponent's defence to be put under pressure.
Shame to see him go but it's been an open secret he was off. I wish him all the very best at his new club.

You may well need to top up your quota of ex-Crewe players, but Madron won't be one. Signed for Gills.

To be honest I think at this point because the club are being very watertight with nothing getting out regards targets and nothing seemingly happening people are just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks. The latest one seems to be Tyler Walker.

Either way judging by DC’s comments it’s going to continue being slow going and probably be after the start of the season though I do agree with him it’s better to have a good player for 44 weeks than an average one for 52.

Spot on. Anthony Evans signed late and didn't play his first game until our 6th league game last season (in September) and turned out to be our best player.

You might get the late gem but in most cases what's left by then is very much the freebies looking for a pay check. Also you have crocked players like Connor Wickham who we let go. Is he worth a punt? If he could stay injury free yes, of course he is but it's a big call.

The keeper we hear is waiting on his parent club signing a replacement before letting him go (Blackman or Hladky mooted).

Have to see it’s been slow but in contrast we don’t need 15-16 players like we did last season.

If that's the case it won't be Blackman as he was released by Huddersfield. If Hladky could recover his form at Salford that would be a great addition. He looked levels above when he was there but seemingly lost his way at Ipswich. Wouldn't have to do much to be better than Holy who we loaned off them if he were to join.

To be honest if the season started tomorrow we have the spine of a team that isn't too bad (or at least wouldn't get thrashed each week) and from the photos of the training camp in Spain Conlon was doing ball work so he might be further along than was expecting.

Expecting RB Joe Rafferty to come in this week. Kieron Freeman likely to be heading out the exit door.

Strange one Freeman. Cowley was excited to land him last season. Started him initially, then played him out of position when we had a centre half crisis, then sidelined him completely when we landed Romeo on loan. Finally he was loaned out in January. It's the second time we've had him and the second time it's not worked out. Obviously, Pompey and Freeman just don't mix.

Continuing our interminable search for a striker, Colby Bishop and Joe Pigott are the next taxis off the rank. Cowley expects something to happen this week. But he said that last week, and the week before, and th............

Seems like my post above is already out of date. Looks like we are getting Pigott on loan. Happy with that. Cowley tried for him last season but we were out-financed by Ipswich as usual. The worrying thing is it could mean that Ipswich are getting George Hirst as a replacement

Exception rather than the rule though. DC often said this with us tbh and I often felt disappointed

Our local paper is saying Wimbledon want £200k for McCormick, not quite the £1m as stated by a Wombles fan in here…

One hell of a good player. Ran the show both times we played Newport last season. Scored a bit of a worldy in the game at their gaff.
