Is he not out of contract in the summer?

He started off well here but his form nose-dived very quickly, presumably off the back of court case hanging over him although no-one knew about that at the time. If the first month or two we saw of Diamond is a yardstick it's a fairly solid signing but not necessarily an outstanding out.

We probably see enough of Diamond in a good headspace to truly know whether he'd make the step up from L2 where he performed well for Harrogate.

So we make a quality loan signing and your immediate reaction is a critical one?
Not critical of the quality, he’s an excellent player, but this season is done, we’re down. So we should be signing players that are going to contribute in trying to get promoted back to League 1.

And you know better than our manager?

Maybe no one with L1 quality is available to sign for that position permanently who doesn't want to potentially be playing in L2 next season at this time, it is a difficult window.

You just come up with any old excuse to be negative about something.

Seems that Jaden Brown is heading to St Mirren on loan.

Hardly been in any squads here since Kennedy left, and even a little before then as well so I'm not sure whether we can really say if he's a good player or not. Something obviously not quite right though for a new signing to be moved six months after signing.

I’m not being negative about the player, as I say I rate him. You’re just choosing to take it that way because of the way your brain operates.

But I believe we are all but mathematicall relegated so his signing isn’t going to effect how successful we are like it would if we had him for next season. If thinking we’re down is negative so be it, but I call it realistic. We are 10 points adrift with 18 games to go, our next three games are at home to the teams in 3rd and 1st, either side of a trip to Orient. We’ve won 4 games all season, we’d need to go from worst team in the league to playoff form over night to even stand a chance. Not happening. As I say, its not negative its realism.

Signed adebomi on loan from palace.
He’s a striker. Scored 7 goals in 10 for their under 21 team.
Highly regarded by them. But let’s see. The reality of league one football can swallow some of this “talent” up.

We’ve signed Josh Vela from Fleetwood on an 18 month contract.

Yeah we had a couple of duffers from them who were 'highly rated' by their fans

We’re “really close with two” signings according to Harris. As with most clubs, we could do with another centre forward - we’ve only got one fit striker at the moment.

David Flitcroft was on Radio Stoke this evening. Said the striker search is ongoing but the market is ridiculous for that citing Luke Armstrong and Will Goodwin as examples and also even the non-league market is prohibitive. As such we’ve started to look in foreign markets such as Scandinavia where there’s more value. Also been talking to a PL club about signing a LWB.

Apparently we (Shrewsbury) had a deal for Adebomi last week once he signed a contract at Palace. The change of manager put the move on hold and apparently Hurst vetoed the deal.

Still hoping on Nathan Fraser from Wolves who was at our game against Fleetwood. Then went to Dubai with the first team and came back and scored in the cup last week, so now not looking likely especially as Wolves need strikers at present.

Hopefully the DoF has other targets lined up for Hurst's liking.

Rejected a loan bid for Ryan Ledson from Peterborough earlier in the window. Cannot fathom why we would do that, this is totally his level. I'd love to see the back of him.

Unless it was Ledson himself who didn't want to relocate.

And I see us Gills have now signed Josh Walker on loan from you guys.

Brewers fans, is he any good? What can we expect? He’s said to have pace which we severely lack.

In honesty league one was a step too far for him. He struggled and flitted in and out of games. In his defence we did not play him consistently and he played for a clusterfuck of a manager so he might be the one that got away.
Good luck to him.

Chairman confirmed on the radio tonight the ‘recall window’ for Marc Leonard and Kieron Bowie has passed now. Huge for us with Bowie finding form and Leonard really is different gravy. Glad that Brighton let players choose where they go as there’s no chance we’d have got him back if not and he should be in the Championship.

Nathaneal Ogbeta coming in from Swansea.

Was at Posh last season, apparently played well for them.

We’re apparently close to signing a striker ahead of Saturday.

I doubt it’s Jake Young. I think that ship has sailed.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
It’s been an interesting transfer market for Carlisle.

For me their spending (with a now larger budget) doesn’t show an air of certainly stopping the sinking ship…….not really signed anyone proven at this level or a dogged old headed championship team later or two willing to drag the side up the league…….clearly budget isn’t involving throwing in kitchen sink, plus January market and league position havnt helped.

But……they all seem to be proven good L2 players who have not quite made it this level yet, if they maybe can click at this level it may work but at least worst case scenario we now drop into L2 with a squad full of good to vs good solid L2 players.

We havnt fully gone into panic buy mode leaving us with extremely expensive players if relegated.

But we do seriously lack that incoming player who you just think ‘yep can turn this around’

Still think it’s been a better route to go,work on longer term squad build

Someone like Jack Marriot would be good.

We had our fans forum last night and it was quite interesting.

Transfer wise we are not in the market for permanents and set to sign two more loan players, a wing back and striker (Chelsea was mentioned as the source). There just isn't the value for money in signing a permanent striker currently in England, even from non league, Oxford signing a striker with goal and assist stats half that of two of our central midfielders for 400k isn't value for money and shows that you'd have to spend bonkers money to get it. Looking at Scandinavia and Australia for the summer to find better value.

After two of our promising youth players signed, looks like Rhys Walters is close, it was feared he would leave after some steller cup performances but looks close, also highly rated Jack Shorrock is close to agreeing pro terms.

Tried to get a loan defender from a PL club who went to Belgium instead.

Getting calls about our players every day, Uche had his release clause triggered by Charlton so was able to go and speak to them but it didn't go through, got some banter from the lads when he rolled in Monday morning apparently!

Pitch improvements are why we are getting these top loan players, focused now on welfare with them which is why clubs and families are trusting us over bigger clubs (Dan Gore for eg).

Using loans as a stop gap whilst we get the youth system in full flow, made hundreds of thousands so far and then aiming to invest into a Peterborough model getting better each year.

Vale campus (Dimensions where away fans now park), training pitches, Vale Park and across to the College will all be one educational/community facility over the next few years with state of the art facilities.

Now looks like we’ve cooled our interest in Joel Nouble at Livingstone. Caldwell said yesterday that some players have recently become available who weren’t beforehand, so reading between the lines, I think we’ve moved onto one of those players instead.

Just pray we get business done, but think it’ll go to the wire.

We've been linked to Charlie McCann from FGR and Shane McLoughlin from Newport this morning. I know very little about either, although the latter seems to be hitting decent goals/assists stats in L2 this season.

I'm not sure there's ever a time where the attacking end of the market isn't ridiculous. That's why we've been scouting Ireland for the last few years. It's a bit risky because you're never quite sure whether they'll step up but the financial risk is far less (we seem to pay £30k-£50k a player). We haven't had an absolute dud yet, so it's worked to a point. We haven't sold anyone yet but haven't released/tried to get rid of anyone either, it's still in the early-ish stages.

Forgetting about availability of these players but we're a right mix really. House was a punt from non-league Eastleigh (the other non-league punt we signed in the same window was sold to Woking a week back after it didn't work out), Walker was a free and location (plus familiarity with us from a previous spell) will have helped with him living in Nottingham.

Hackett was £30k, Mandroiu £30k, Moylan £45k, Duffy a small fee from Ireland, Draper and Makama are from the Academy and Taylor on loan.

Sounds like we're trying to sign Dom Jeffries from Gillingham who is out of contract in the summer.

Flickers mentioned it in the summer, for example Armstrong for 500k, JCH bid accepted for 850k this from League Two or mid table/lower L1 clubs but that pushes the market up as other clubs want similar money, the Oxford one a good example, 400k for a striker who's got half the goals and assists one of our midfielders has is nuts... but thats the market.
