Who was that angry CM Wrexham had in the Conference, who always seemed to get sent off? Lee Fowler?

Morrell reminds me of him.

Seems like a straight replacement then. When the red mist descends, Morrell can be a liability. I was even hoping we'd try to sell him last summer due to red cards at vital moments.

However, there's no doubting his qualities and he absolutely played a big part in our success this season until his injury back in January. Mousinho is a big fan and very keen to keep him, but I reckon a Wrexham deal would be too appealing to a Welshman at this stage in his career.

Without getting into petty nationalism, he plays for the Welsh National Team (and prior to that, their U-17, U-19, and U-21 teams) so I'm sure he considers himself Welsh and that's all that should matter really.

Nope. Welsh mum. Born in England = English

They can have him though he is just a massive shithouse (I know as ive played against him a few times)

I see we've indeed got into petty nationalism. Whatever. This seems to matter to you greatly so I concede.

Wrexham were supposedly interested in a very overly ambitious move for Daniel Johnson last summer. After a shite season at Stoke, maybe they'll sign him on loan.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't the best midfielder in the league.

Its not petty, its just facts...he plays for Wales but is English.
Makes a mockery of football when the likes of Andy Johnson can get capped by Wales before even stepping foot in Wales...
Ireland not much better though, Jason McAteer has to 'choose' a relation from the random names they had found to play for them

Pure rumours at the moment but we have been linked with Matty Godden and Luke Berry. Some whispers May could go as well

I reckon Big Pat will end up back with you.

You tried to loan him in January according to ITKers up here.

Would absolutely love him back. Still think he can do a job in League one?

There are rumours that we have offered Joe Morrell a new contract but Wrexham have moved in for him. If that's true then I feel it's highly likely he chooses Wrexham. Could be a dream move for him at this time so would be completely understandable, and a cracking signing for Wrexham.

Just rumours at the moment but this one makes a lot of sense.

Would be a great signing for us, and a position where we do need an upgrade. We've just released Luke Young, who was a pre-takeover stalwart and Morrell would be a huge step up in ability (with no disrespect to Young, who has been great for us over the years) to take over his squad place.

Yeah, he rats around well, gets stuck in and can drive forward from midfield but he has absolute brain fart moments.

We used to have a player called Jon Nolan who was exactly the same, every single tackle he made you had no idea whether he'd go in fairly or recklessly and get sent off.

we also had Nolan with us - unsure if it was before or after you. Another what could have been

the midfielder you were referring to the other day was Jay Harris by the way

We had him too although only made 1 sub appearance for us. Typical Barton injury case signing

Probably. Defenders only have to head and kick down here, and limit how many times they fuck up each game.

If true then one of Evans, Cannon or Lee becoming a bench player seems a bit absurd. Maybe Evans will go into the back 3 though.

We got him from Lincoln (who didn't want him anymore) got him fit and then Grimsby STOLE him from us.

After the play off game it's the thing I hold against them most.

Jon Nolan was unreal for us. We signed Nolan for 150k from Chesterfield and Toto Nsiala for 25k from Hartlepool and a year later after finishing 3rd and two Wembley appearances we sold them both for a combined fee of 2 million to Ipswich who just stole Paul Hurst off us. Incredible bit of business that was for the club.

Nolan is still to this day one of my favourite ever players that I’ve watched put on the blue & amber shirt.

Yeah, we loaned him to Wrexham for a couple of months after he became a prick here (I think Danny Rowe and Sean Newton might have left, so that split up the Nolan/Rowe/Newton trio), mutual consented his contract and he opted for Grimsby. I think Wrexham might have wanted rid of him by that point and sent him back to us.

He should have had a far better career than he did with the talent he had. His attitude stank and the penny didn't drop until he went to Chesterfield, albeit he then became a prick at Ipswich as well so it never quite left him.

I think we wanted to sign him permanently , but we didn't have any money back then. Was starting to look good for us when he left.

We loved signing your cast offs around then. We signed Sean Newton around then too. Lincoln fans predictions that he was a bit of a prick turned out to be true for Newton tbf.

Jon Nolan was one of the fraudsters that got us relegated to regional football. Just wanted to put that out there.

Interesting - firstly, is there a sell-on :D

Secondly, what's the reasoning - just doesn't fit with Nathan Jones?

Forgot you signed Newton. He faked an injury away at Bristol Rovers to force a move through to then L1 Notts County where he had an absolute mare (as we all knew he would, he was never L1 level).

Overall he was pretty incredible for us though, he got 23 assists from LB in one season. He's freekicks, corners and general crossing were the best I think I've ever seen at Lincoln.

We've probably shared quite a few players down the years, which is to be expected when we've both been an NL side I suppose when players move on all the time - Jones, Palmer, Newton, Nolan, Waterfall, J'Lo, Keates.

Newton was a proper helmet. J-Lo is a legend though.

I’m really interested to see who Jones brings in for you. I imagine a few ex players of ours will be showing up.

I’m a massive Berry fan, always liable to pop up with a goal and he works bloody hard. Problem is he’s kind of morphed into a pure sub/role player for about 3 seasons now though and his play style has gradually become more and more extreme. He runs around like a lunatic for 15 minutes to see out a game or too look to nick a goal if we are needing it by bursting into the box, I’d be really interested to see if he can transition back to being a starter somewhere again as his style of play has been almost totally remodelled to those 15 minute of madness type moments.

No inside knowledge on my part but really wouldn’t be surprised if you end up linked with Allan Campbell in the summer. He may want to head up back to Scotland after a poor season at Millwall. Jones loved him but Edwards never seemed to fancy him. High pressing energetic box to box midfield player, if NJ wants to implement that particular flavour of his style to you I’d imagine he’d be high on his list and quite gettable.

I'd still imagine Berry has championship suitors so would be tough to convince him to drop down. Allan Campbell I'd be pretty happy with. I've been worried will end up half of the 18/19 Luton League One squad :bg:

LuaLua was a bit of a failed experiment, just didn't have the legs anymore.

Should be an interesting window. Seems like Jones is the one calling the shots now. Owners main policy was to sign young players, progress them and profit but it seems Jones much prefers the experienced player.
