Ben Hinchcliffe, fucking hell, that's a blast from the past, used to play against him regularly when I was a teenager.
I hope you never pronounced his name like you've spelt it, no second C, Hinchliffe. Every commentator gets it wrong though, I don't think anybody outside of our club calls him by his correct name, half our fans still don't and he's been our goalkeeper for over 8 years.

Unreal servant for us, 3 promotions. We always bring in a new keeper who's going to bench him and he wins back his spot and never looks back. This season he never missed a league minute however. I can understand a 2 year deal for him because he'd basically be a perfect number 2 even if he's ousted. We've released our number 2 and 3rd choice younger goalkeeper so there will be someone coming in to compete with him. Don't rule him out as still being between the sticks though.

Stott did confirm overruling everyone else and insisting on a two-year offer to Hinchliffe! The right kind of move an owner should make

Would be astonishing if we could get Barry, part of me is concerned whether he can recapture his pre-injury speed and terror though.
Accrington resorted to kicking him after about 10 minutes of our final home game because they couldn’t handle him. They definitely felt the terror.

Wishful thinking but the way we are so tight lipped at the club can't help but feel they would have edited out Stott saying we're not a million miles away from signing Barry if there was nothing in it.

Still think it will be a loan but would be some statement signing if we get him permanently.

Ben Fox signs a new deal with us. Had big injury problems during his stay here which is how he found himself in non league previously with Grimsby. That being said when he is fit he is L1 quality and an all around midfielder. 1 year deal with the option (not sure if player or club) on the extra year, happy with that.
Anything be said about Sherring resigning or not? We've been looking at him

Lee Gregory signed for us. Feel like it’s a good signing for us at this level despite him being mid 30s. Does add to an already old squad mind especially if Quinn has one more year in him like we’re all hoping for..

I think with Sharpe gone the ‘lowering the age’ thing dropped off, I still expect us to try and lower it a bit, think we should IMo.

Good signing that. Chris Martin is 35 and he did just fine for us last season

Clarke Harris links up with Steve Evans at Rotherham. Good fit those two

The Mansfield owners bowing to Cloughie's every demand yet again. Got them on strings.

If the manager of the season wants something he’s more than likely going to be right, and by the looks of it will be once more.

Teams showing their hands early doors. Both a perfect fit for Mansfield and Rotherham

Very happy to welcome JCH back to the club as long as he shows a bit more desire than he did at Hillsborough when Peterborough totally capitulated and ruined my week.

He wasn't that consistent last time but he was young TBF, still with Nombe, Hugill and Eaves we at least have some competition up front.

We need some wide players though, having released Ferguson we have none.
But the one thing you are guaranteed with SE is plenty of transfer activity, about 83 players in his last spell from memory.

Not that it takes much guessing how Rotherham will play under Evans, but JCH, Eaves and Hugill up front is a good indication for those who can't work it out!

Only reason we did not get him in January on loan was excessive wage demands from Wednesday, Gregory is very much a Clough type of striker so makes sense.

Gregory and Swan upfront is a good pairing.

Got to be happy with the Gregory signing. Last time he was on our books he scored a goal every other game for us across the two year period. Can't really argue with that average.

Hopefully with fast attacking wing play, plenty of crosses into the opposition box and decent forwards getting in where it hurts.

I can't stand watching all this tippy tappy stuff, passing for passing sake, it drives me mad.

Football should be exciting, last season we were so boring to watch, it wasn't the losing so much as the lack of adventure that got me down.

Sarcevic leaving us now, disappointing but not a massive surprise as we're supposedly having a more youth-focused reset this season. He's likely to head to Bradford

Surely one of Hugill, Eaves or Nombe will be looking to move on? Can't see any of them being happy sitting on the bench
