even though they have qualified for Europe next season?

Yeah absolutely, playing a better standard week in week out on more money in front of more fans.

St Mirren playing, and probably losing to some shite side in Montenegro doesn’t change that.

Let’s be real you could put basically any league 1 club in the SPL and they’d happily survive.

You’ve rangers/celtic, usually then usually one of hearts/hibs/aberdeen then the rest are absolute shite.

Not aware of this twitter account so not sure how reliable.

I hope this is true tbh. The only reason I would keep hold of Appere is that we have no other forwards on our books at the moment, but I just dont think hes that good. He works really hard, covering a ton of ground pressing. But he is non existent in the air, lacks physicallity and just does not have a strikers instinct, never looking to get shots away quickly or go for goal when he has the chance.

A number of our fans seem to really rate him whereas I just dont see it at all, to me he is a L2 player or a squad option for a lower end L1 team.

Another one I’m not convinced we are actually in for to be honest.

We got Lee Gregory, Will Swan, Lucas Akins, Tom Nichols and Bowery who can play upfront.

Sounds just like Harvey Knibbs. He didn't have much end product and worked his socks off.

We really missed him this season and be careful when you say you're not fussed losing him. You will be when he's replaced with someone who doesn't do the hard yards. it massively affects the team and how you break on the better sides.

Bigger clubs come circling for our best players and we really struggled because of that. I can see that happening to you this season.

I’m torn on Appere. The description of him as a ‘star forward’ has raised plenty of eyebrows as he splits opinion massively.

11 in 63 in L2, 6 in 37 in L1 is a poor goal scoring record and his finishing is bottom end L2 level, always wanting that extra touch to set up the perfect chance and quite often blowing promising opportunities.

Work rate wise he’s unreal, presses people to death and I think we’d really miss that. However, he’s nowhere near the level a promotion seeking side need but would fit at a Stevenage type side where it’s all work rate and harrying defenders. Wouldn’t be too fussed if he left but the more we have to replace the less confident I become.

Signing James Scott from us indicates that it isn't a better standard (apart from the Old Firm).
FC Vaduz have qualified again if that's the benchmark .

Fair points, but have you been to Mansfield? :bg: . They did sign Shaun Rooney though and id have taken him here even though he is a proper shithouse

Hey! leave it alone.

It’s honestly a lovely place when it’s foggy or dark (or both)

That is definitely a potential issue for us this season, particularly as we lost 2 loanees in Bowie and Leonard who were so influential for us over the past 2 seasons. On top of that we still quite a few contracted defenders who personally I dont think are L1 quality. We definitely need to bring in some quality additons, particularly at the top of the pitch.

As much as I appreciate not everyone has the same endeavour, it cant be your only quality, which is the case for Appere.

Rotherham in for Joe Powell, someone I would have been delighted with as a Leonard replacement. Evans not wasting any time in splashing the cash!

It always amuses me when fans from other parts of the country assume all northern towns a complete shitholes.

The fact is because of underfunding from this government our town centres have deteriorated for the last 14 years but there are still some attractive places in the town.

Also they don't realise the surrounding area is quite scenic, 70% of Rotherham Borough is rural.

According to someone who usually knows, there's just the medical to sort.

The club are also hoping to announce another later today but it is by no means cut and dried.

Hopefully 14 years that will be brutally put to an end in 6 weeks or so, not to be seen again for a decade or 2! they’ve shafted the north over for a decade or more, labour need to reverse that urgently.

Whereas id be lying if i said mansfield would be a fixture to look out for away fans, there are decent pubs to go to which is usually enough to satisfy most!

Must admit on my visits to Millmoor I always thought Rotherham was top of the pile for a shit town.

Must admit on my visits to Millmoor I always thought Rotherham was top of the pile for a shit town.

Out of town retail parks decimated businesses in the town centre TBF.
We haven't even had a cinema in the town for over a decade.
Pubs and nightclubs closed their doors so there was no reason to go to town other than for the football.

A year ago the town was pretty desperate but there has been money pumped in from the Council and local and national businesses and a new waterside development will be open later this year.

With some of the derelict buildings being knocked down, the area around the Minster being upgraded and a new market centre being built, it might hopefully see an upturn in fortunes.

There are already a few new businesses opening up in the surrounding area getting ready for the opening so hopefully the town might come back to life and you might get a different perspective next time you visit.

Most town centres have died regarding shopping with the big players closing and going to retail parks.
The council decided that there is only way to survive is by providing specialist shops, leisure facilities and new homes in the town centre and finally they have got the funding and pulled their finger out.

I bet its the fastest Evans has moved for a while. Maybe since we beat Stevenage 3-2 in Feb from being 2-0 down, he disappeared pretty fast then at full time

How much do we get?
There's been no mention of it TBH, I know it used to be about 11% so that would be around £800,000 but I don't know if it actually still exists.

We have got the Viktor Johansson money from Stoke and offloaded a whole lot of high earners so perhaps it's that we will be paying players £4 to 5000 a week instead of £8 to 10000.

Although Taylor didn't do that well for us signing old Championship crocks, at least he only gave them 12 month contracts.

No idea on parachute payments anymore, pretty sure they still exist all the way to getting relegated from L2 though.

Title by 10 points otherwise it's failure.

It seems many think because we are signing quite a few players that we will be up at the top.
What they're forgetting is that we got rid of about 11 players so they need to be replaced.

Then comes the hard bit, making them play as a team and then getting a winning formula to build confidence and climb the league.
If it was that easy everybody would do it.

Last time we got relegated, we kept the same management team who had already achieved promotion from this league 2 seasons before.
We kept largely the same team with players who knew one another's game and in most matches we were the better team if not necessarily having the better players.

If Evo get's us in the top six by the January window he will have done a good job.
Then he will do what he does best, dump the ones who haven't worked out and go again.

Nobody knows what Kier Starmer can do but we do know what the Tories have done to the country whilst in power.
Larry the cat could do a better job than any of the tossers we have had to endure for the last 14 years.

Going political on here is an awful idea but if anyone still genuinely believes there’s much of a difference between red and blue in the grand scheme of things then all hope is definitely lost.
