Poor from us last night with 190 to Lincoln. It will take a while for fans to ‘trust’ the team again and our away followings will increase.

Our away record over the last 2 years is genuinely horrendous, and I’m not just saying that.

Can’t see many going to Crawley either, maybe 250ish?

Last season will take a while to shake off!

Makes me wonder whether we’d be better off having the journey you’ve had. Of course the risk is that you don’t come back up (ie Wrexham) but in terms of numbers, your home and away are better than ours at present and you’re on an upwards curve whilst we’re still on a downwards one.

Actually think we’d have been better off starting again when we were in admin back in the early naughtiest but that’s another story.

Believe you do not want to go anywhere near the National League. It is top heavy with fanless bank rolled clubs who are paying silly money in wages (Salford being top of the tree in that department with Fylde not far behind to name just two) while properly run ex League teams with decent fan bases just can`t compete with them in the money stakes. Teams arrive at your ground with no intention whatsoever of playing football but employ the dark arts to master level in a bid to get a result of any kind, aided and abetted for the most part by Sunday League standard referees who take pity on the smaller clubs by giving them a stream of nonsensical decisions . Your away end has less than 100 fans in it most games (we had one game against North Ferriby were there was 8 fans in a 2k plus capacity stand. Another club, Gateshead, visited us 3 times and never had more than 25 supporters). Some of the grounds you travel to are absolute, atmosphereless dumps that make the pre-developed Spotland look like the San Siro or the Camp Nou. Visits to places like Solihull, Guiseley and Borehamwood are totally soul destroying. One season there is an experience, anymore than that is a nightmare. The only good thing about it is that some of the fans you meet on your travels are amongst the most friendly you can ever hope to meet and that is the only part of the last 3 seasons I will miss.

But aside from that, you’d recommend?

480 Cobblers at Colchester. Not bad with Euston shut, certainly put me off going

That's a very good following, isn't it?

It’s decent yeah, id expect Macc to get away sell outs from yourselves and Crewe though - also Oldham if they’re doing well

Good following from Exeter to mk, even taking into account the manager scenario

I thought our following of 272 at Crawley was respectable today given the atrocious away (and home) record we have.

Fair shout that, first time you’ve played them?

Second, we played them in 2012/13, funnily enough, also a 3-2 defeat, losing to a last gasp goal! Eerily familiar!

Our away end holds more than 600 you know :woot:
That was on a Tuesday night when we were 17th in the National League.

We play you on New Year's Day. When we visited on 1st January a couple of years ago we brought 1,700.

Our away followings will increase if we get our shit together. As it stands I can’t see us taking more than 600 anywhere all season.

We used to have THE best % of away to home support in the country now it’s bang average for our gates. We took 1000 to Macclesfield on a Tuesday night in 2010/11, bet we won’t take 500 this season even on a Saturday if we carry on as we are.

It’s a darn shame but as someone who used to go to nearly every away game I’ve not been to any since our 4-1 defeat to Wigan in August last season. It’s just not worth the money.

Call me a glory hunter but there gets a point where the away form becomes so terrible that you’re just throwing money away. It’s the same story every single away game pretty much.

I get that away days are about a piss up as well as the match, but losing 3-0, 4-0, 5-1 on a fortnightly basis it does drain your appetite.
