I see AFC Wimbldon took more on a tuesday night (similar distances I imagine??) whens this football frenzy happening been 20 years plus now hasn't it?, geniune question btw, you have had a generation of fans born whilst you have been in exsistance & your home & away support has never really got off the ground , not what Mr Winkleman envisaged with his football frenzy statements in the early days.
Oh theres a football frenzy in MK alright. It just centres around the premier league. Most people who moved here when the new town was built are from London. We have way more Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs fans than the average sky supporting premier league fans in other towns so I presume a lot of their kids support their Dads team. Throw in the Man U and Liverpool contingent that every town has as well. It pisses me off that when we are at home the pubs are full of premier supporters but there you go.

Plus we have stagnated and other than one season in the championship where Winky didn't back Robbo we are a league1/2 yoyo team. 2 seasons ago we were a point away from promotion to the champ and now we are in league2. We train on public playing fields where people walk their dogs because we haven'tinvested in any infrastructure.

Winkleman has his fancy stadium where he can host internationals and massive concerts so he is happy. We get the table leftovers. It is what it is.

My Sister in Law used to live in Milton Keynes and we were there visiting on the day of your first ever home game in the Championship I think it was against Preston and you had won your first game 4-0 away somewhere so I was expecting there to be a massive buzz around the place and there was just nothing, I only saw one old guy with the shirt on which really surprised me.

Swindon were loudest fans I've seen at our place in many years. Just good to have proper away followings again. Well, until we play the tinpotters of this league.

You've been away too long, Mansfield are now a massive club for this level.

Yeah 1 or 2 seasons too many. Adam had been promising that for a long long time, it appears it finally happened last season.

It's an impressive jump from piss poor to very acceptable to massive in a short period of time.

Clubs like Notts and Grimsby should be grateful we even see our name in the same lge table as them.

Grimsby took the same amount for a nothing game on a Tuesday night than County managed last time.

What are you talking about the league table isn't important, it's all about the L2 away followings table. You must have experienced Stags enough by now to realise that.

Ok Conks , you are clearly an expert on this niche subject, what has the average away following been at Field Mill when Notts have been the visitors the last say 5/6 times? I'm sure you can dig out the exact figure for each occasion but an average for the last 5/6 visits would suffice.

County aren’t known for their away followings but we always thought that they’d be able to sell out 13 miles down the road. Given they aren’t really a main rival to anyone you’d have thought they’d come in numbers to us given we’re the closest they’ve got.

Maybe now they’ve the #stain of non-league they might be a little more adventurous possibly.

Either or, still eternally greatful to county for beating chesterfield in the playoff final, the difference between county being back up or an important arch rival is massive.

Last season our ‘sell outs’ were
Derby in league cup = 1662
Doncaster = 1628
Derby in pizza cup = 1685

I'm not surprised at all that there is, thanks for doing the legwork for me SoC.

Even after a string of embrassing losses at Field Mill, and even factoring the disastrous season that saw us relegated to Non League football for the first time in the club's history.

1140 is a shocking effort, just shows what a complete mess we were in at the time, I'm not sure if we were on our 2nd or 3rd manager that season by that point. And to think it would only get worse.

The rest are what I'd expect, that away end capacity never stays the same. Damn tarpaulin!!!

Tis true, although the now regular losses season after season in North Notts has a part to play.

Of course Mansfield aren't known for their home support in such games, whatever we bring there has only ever been 4500-5500 home fans in attendance. I guess there isn't a specific thread for that :shifty:

You'd think a guaranteed 3 points and a chance to give plenty of stick to the boys and girls from the big city would have encouraged more of the home fans to take a break from their weekend trip to the local Four Seasons shopping centre?! But nope.

Those figures aren't far off what you take to Meadow Lane aka The Ultimate Big Day Out. I guess the less commited supporters were saving their pennies for that one instead.

We have got more season ticket holders now than we ever took as an away following to Mardy Lane.

Bradford?

Think we could have a fair few this season, realistically stockport, bradford and doncaster are the 3 likely to sell out.

Though as i’ll experience this weekend stockport might be reduced slightly as train strikes.

Far be it from me to interrupt the fascinating 'Nottinghamshire's 2nd biggest club' debate, but depending on the situation we might sell out Mansfield this season with it being our last away game and us being massive.

Genuinely the best thing about being in the Vanarama was that no one gave a shit about away followings (apart from Grimsby when they were there for a bit).

There's a Vanarama group on Facebook where some (generally Oldham, Rochdale and Chesterfield fans) seem genuinely astounded that Eastleigh don't travel in large numbers.

Also I’m sure they keep lowering our allocation for the North Stand, it’s closer to 1800 seats than 1700.

Stockport brought a very disappointing 900 odd last season so I doubt they will sell out Saturday, Bradford the week after I’m sure will be the first to pack the North Stand.
