I was going to go to Accrington tonight as I’m working not too far away but no sales on the day whose stupid idea is that?
Seems like its the way football has gone, nowadays. Long gone are the days of rocking up to the ground at 2.50 and waltz straight in without a care in the world.

Only reason to make it no tickets on the day is to free up more seats due to EFL regulations. Mansfield do it every home game pretty much now because it frees up 700 seats, although that’s only for home fans.

Only 50 tickets left for tonight's game at Derby, which again is all ticket. We were only given 800 tickets though and no pay on the day. I've never known us to be hit with as many restricted t allocations and all ticket games in a season.
Thought you had to provide a proper allocation for FA Cup matches. That seems tiny for a ground of their size.

The Stags clinging on to second spot, but with Wrexham at home last Saturday they maintain their 'unsurmountable' lead. Harrogate trying in vain to get bottom spot with only 65 travelling to Walsall but Crawley keeping that position

Crewe average is a bit low considering how well they are doing, or am I being mean.

Crewe are going for the 'Our Support Doesn't Fluctuate At All of the Year' trophy, which is admirable in the face of a promotion push. Notts and Wrexham take note.

Wimbledon only being barely above MK is not good enough either.

Has a Southern team ever even got remotely close to winning the L2 Away Averages? I can't think of any Southern team that travel well up North consistently in this division. Amused me seeing Orient, Sutton and Wimbledon fans posting "on our way" type posts on Twitter last season bigging up their followings when they were getting the tube or the overground to each other's grounds. Well done lads, you've done my work commute.

3rd in the average away attendances and 2nd in the average home attendances.

Football has gone mad. Both will sure take a hit in Strange Luke is poached during this season.

Yeah completely agree I remember even when Orient won the league they did not travel particularly well.

I’m sort of fed up with going to any away games Manchester way, bad traffic adding a hour to your journey is almost a given now.

Do you mostly drive?? Not sure what it's like from your way but the trains from London to Manchester are obscenely expensive and always getting cancelled/delayed. If you do an overnighter on a Sat from Manc/Leeds way it's not unheard of that you end up having to go back down via York or something on the Sunday to come back down when they've crammed two trains into one. I've finally got a car now for the first time in ages having moved out of London so I'll be driving to more matches.

Yeah driving to away matches even with the rip off price of petrol is so much cheaper and more convenient than trains in that you can stop whenever/wherever you want on the way if the need is there. The not drinking side of it doesn’t bother me either as I gave all that up when I had my kids.
Only place I would never drive through though is London, did that for our Bristol Rovers play off final after I stupidly booked our hotel in Wimbledon not realising that it meant I had to drive right through London to get there.
Never again.

A mixture of driving myself and going on the coach depending on the destination, do not know many Mansfield fans that travel on the train to away games other than when we play Notts County, I think due to a combination of it being so expensive and Mansfield not on a main line. It took me around 2h30 driving to Salford Saturday, Stockport/Rochdale was a nightmare last season aswell.

Only time I really use public transport is when in London or around Europe, 50p for a hour bus journey from Wrocław airport to the city centre is too good to turn down

I rarely do trains, but this season compared to the national league are so heavily northern based means I can do a few on the train. And the lack of midweek games is noticeable too so that helps. Tranmere I went on the coach as didn't want my car being smashed in, and Stockport is like 40 mins by train and a day out in Manchester. Did Notts on the train - that was some experience! :)

I mainly drive as I take the mrs and lad to all the games too. A 2nd job pays for all tickets and expenditure so we can afford to go all the time.

Over 2,000 sold for Notts County. Surprising, again, given the early KO, on SKY and our form.

Definitely a game of what could have been if we were in decent form. That being said, it would be very ‘City’ of us to grab all three points this weekend.

Same here potentially very different for Notts with less key injuries and in better form, but that's football.

For us it's all about whether Bostock starts or not. Big difference if he does.

It’s a hugely northern biased league this season - most seasons really. Those clubs that could be considered down south have minuscule away allocations so unable to boost that all important average.

We're probably amongst the better of the Southern away followings, but not likely to finish top of this particular table. Hard to when you've got the allocations that are offered in the midlands/yorkshire regions. The only away in the south east (arguable it even is to be fair, it's more midlands) that offers 3k+ is MK, whereas the more Northern lot have Bradford, Notts, Doncaster and even Accrington who more or less give teams whatever they want. Our local aways are at some of the smaller grounds around in Crawley, Sutton and Wimbledon, so of course our average is likely to be lower than those who have local games with double that availability.

A fairer way of working out an away 'table' would be on a head to head basis. Obviously again there'd be room for debate with midweek games etc skewing travelling numbers, but it's overall a fairer way of doing it. I remember back in the days I used to get a programme they had the numbers of travelling fans at our games so it was easy to check, and we went a full season taking more to opposition grounds than that club's equivalent support at ours. I don't think we'll be too far off that this year either, we've posted some impressive numbers already.

Be interesting to see how Gills fare when they travel this far north (and a little extra) for the trip to Tranmere. Would it be the same amount of numbers that come to us?

Doubtful, we've played Tranmere plenty over the years so there isn't the novelty factor there was for Wrexham where for a whole generation of fans it was a new away. Plus we've been in dire form of late - when we sold out your tickets we were still doing alright! Momentum has dissipated a little over the last month at ME7.

I spent a fair proportion of my student grant (what’s a student grant Daddy?) travelling on trains to GTFC games with the benefit of a student railcard. I now have a senior railcard, sometimes go first class, the coffee is better, but reliability just as shite…

Our away games thus far haven't been the best. Wrexham and Harogate we sold out at both and could have sold more if not for rubbish allocations. Bradford was the only real poor away following (around 350), but it was very early in the season before we knew we were pretty decent.

Other than that 1000+ to Salford and 600 to Wimbledon were decent and then the the only others we've had are Crawley, Swindon and FGR and one one wants to go any of them. Our average will probably take more of a dip yet with Suton on a Tuesday and Grimsby (we never travel well there) the next 2.

Give or take a couple of years, the away allocation will be much better at our place (the whole stand behind the goal will be given back to away fans). We need the kop being built asap!

Confirmed the open Bank will be available for Wrexham fans on Boxing Day. That along with the seats in the Arkells should see you get in excess of 3000 tickets. See if you can shift that lot!

Pray for dry weather!

I think Exeter were the last club to have the Bank - that was over the Xmas holidays iirc. I didn’t, it was Feb.

Dry day and made for a terrific atmosphere.
