That’s because you are already polishing up that open-top bus that was so hugely feted when you won the NL. If you were conceding an average of 4.x goals per home game like us how many STH wouldn’t be turning up then?

No idea because it’s not a problem at this moment in time.

In those days, the figures announced were often laughably lower than in attendanc, as it was no different to paying cash at the hairdressers so the owner could drive his complimentary MX5. We were masters of it, and not alone.

Just announced at our fans forum, in our last home game Wrexham will be getting a more limited number of tickets. Certainly only having one stand rather than the 2 we usually offer. Quite glad after we got less tickets than anyone else at the there place this season.

I’m not pointing the finger at Grimsby, but when someone says their club accounts by numbers attending rather than tickets sold there’s a huge anomaly. It makes no difference if people have bought a ticket but don’t bother turning up - the club have their income.

I'm trying to understand why you think we or anyone account by numbers attending rather than tickets sold?

There is difference between accounting for money and announcing how many people have turned up. I'm not an accountant but I'm pretty sure accountants aren't reading attendance figures on ceefax at the end of the year to calculate income, they are using how much money has gone through the tills on whatever computer system is used to provide a receipt and ticket to the customer. Whether the customer then walks through the gate on a Saturday afternoon is irrelevant to income these days. (except for food sold in the ground!)

We are just being honest on how many have walked through the gate, got nothing to do with income.

Because you said so.

Again what has that got to do with accounting? We said we have sold 8k tickets so have income from 8k tickets, that is for accounting purposes. What has the 7k attendance got to do with income?

If anything its the opposite of hiding income, its declaring income we could have hidden due to non attendance if we really were trying to fiddle the books.

Whichever way you do it the accounts must be wrong. How do you explain the income from 8000 tickets sold when your official attendance is 7000. It just doesn’t tally.

By about 20 people.

Glad that you're over it though.

You said you declare how many people turn up, not on how many tickets you sell. There’s he anomaly.

Despite being shite, we've sold out Hollywood away, well done us... Suspect this is going to be a slightly weird trip there, as these games usually have a lot of edge, but our crowd will probably consist of a lot of our more passive season ticket holders who do one one away game a season, and are going for the Hollywood factor. It'll be the best behaved Tranmere contingent heading to Wrecsam in living memory, presumably feeding sugar lumps to the police horses en route.

The thinking is probably that we'll need the Railway End ourselves should there be something hinging on this game, which at the moment looks quite possible.
