It's a joke the whole rail network. I travel on Northern into work every day and in a week this is typically what happensThe money ploughed into the south is a joke, Northern's train stock is still stuck in the 80's. They have my sympathy, it's just a ridiculous situation.
1 day a week -cancellation - trains only every half hour so next one turns up (usually late) and is fully so nobody can get in, have to get a taxi or drive into Leeds
2 days a week - late running, people for next train arrive at platform, so trains are packed or even worse, you can;t get on. By packed I mean you are standing on eachothers toes.
1 day a week - Northern run it on a short formation so it's already fully when it turns up so get left on platform
Repeat cycle. It's pathetic. The trains are 40 year old, leaking, and generally minging - and that's when you can actually get on them. Not had a seat in 19 months of commuting so can't comment on those.
Understand the issue is the same across other northern cities, not just Leeds.
I'd drive but the traffic is chaos and its £14 a day to park at the work car park, and the street parking is likely to get you your car nicked. I've already had 1 car stolen this year, so don't fancy another!
