Hard to know what to make of Stevenage tomorrow. On the one hand, they are almost certainly going to be a mid-table side and we need to be beating teams like that at home if we want to avoid a nervy 2nd half to the season. But they did get a decent win at Colchester and have shown they can compete with the best teams when they want to.

Stevenage looked ok, but they played entirely on the break... which is fair enough, as we let them have a two-goal cushion and therefore allowed them something to hold on to. Where we lacked any tempo to our play the other day, they looked fairly pacy on the break and clearly had something about them.

That said, they only managed one shot on target, the first goal was an unfortunate own goal off the goalkeeper's back, the second looked like a clear foul and, on another day, we would still have won having gone on to hit the post, have one ruled out for offside and a number of other near misses. Those misses weren't particularly glaring chances though, we struggled to break through a solid line so they're clearly quite well organised, too.

Swindon manager (whoever that is?) reckons Mansfield are land of the giants, physical, direct etc.

That can only mean he has never watched Mansfield play for the entire season, does not bode well for Swindon.

Patch the centre of defence up with a player out of position or throw a 17 year old in against Stockley et al, then? The fact that Pollock didn't come on for Davis on Saturday suggests that Jolley isn't going to use Pollock, but perhaps that was because 3 points were very much on the line.

For me, I'd give Pollock a run out. I don't think anyone will blame him if he has a stinker and if he believes in himself then he'll be able to pick himself back up. We've wrapped our kids in too much cotton wool over the last decade or so and I think it is a bit OTT at times. We've got two CBs fit and we play four at the back. Use them both.

Also just read on The Fishy that we've still got Embleton for the Mansfield match on New Year's Day. Anyone know if that is correct?

Jolley is the only manager in recent memory to give youngsters a chance and it’s working so I’d hope he does start Pollock. Though Pollock must’ve been gutted after seeing all our Centre backs disappear and still not come on though.

We are in great form at the moment and playing really well, Hopefully that helps us tomorrow with a 2nd home game in 4 days.

How are Swindon getting on under the new manager?

Hope he’s ready for a war against our Lincolnesque style of sport.

Welcome to the Club, we get that every week.

Mind you, I'm sure those well known physical giants like Eardley, Toffolo, McCartan, Andrade, Pett, Frecklington etc scare people.

It’s a lot more ridiculous towards Mansfield though, us and MK Dons are in our own little world at this level when it comes to the style we play.

Could be Stockleys last home game tomorrow if the articles are true. Taylor has talked a out giving some of the players a rest though so no idea who else we will play.

We've got a tough one up at Carlisle tomorrow but it's games against these other relegation favourites which we need to be winning.

Squad is down to bare bones through injury and suspension so not expecting anything, but would put more pressure on getting a win against the SWA on New year's Day. One win from the two games will do, couldn't give a monkeys fart which one it is.

Crawley at home tomorrow, need to get back to winning ways sharpish. Butler has had his red card v FGR rescinded - surprised by that, although Williams wasn’t running directly towards goal I suppose. Only thing good to come out of Saturday’s game. Labadie looks like he’ll be out for a few games again - took a nasty high tackle on his dodgy knee early doors last Saturday. Big blow.

You’ll put in your best performance of the season on New Year’s Day vs Away Rovers and sneak a point.

No Durrell and likely no Whitaker again though sadly! Would be happy with 3, or 2, points from these two games.

Hopefully this time the players won't get quite as bladdered for new year's eve then

Just read that about Butler's card too, similarly thought it wasn't a bad foul but he was carded on a technicality but apparently not. Came at a point where it took what momentum you had for getting back into it right away as I recall too.

The last few years, we always win on boxing day and get thrashed on New Year's Day. Expecting no different this time, especially at Mac. Just hoping it doesn't rain...

First time in a while there hasn’t been an individual thread for a Notts match - don’t think anyone has the heart to start one for Bury tomorrow, with most expecting a cricket score.

Mayor still out for Bury? Might be our only hope.

Very much doubt we will see Danny for this game.
However if the manager has not completely lost the plot the other 5 changes we made for the stags game should be back. To change the entire strikeforce plus both wingbacks was madness.
Having said that we would have struggled with a full strength team against a very good Stags side I bloody hate Bishop (only because he ALWAYS dictates the game against us)

He’s on loan until January 6th so yes. It also means he’s available for the Palace game.

I didn’t know about UTS but thanks for this.

He can go in my list of AWOL posters after facing the super stags, currently have three on my list (all Lincoln fans special shout out to David) funny thing is we only drew to them but they really struggled to comprehend how they failed to get one over Mansfield AGAIN!

You’ll never beat the Mansfield!

(Until Swindon do later!)

Cambridge away for us today.

Historically horrendous matches but we need a response after the last game, which we usually get.

Questions marks over Vickers and Andrade, who both returned from injury against Crewe but both got injured again with the latter having to come off.

First time in a long time for sure. For the sake of this forum it’s probably a good thing. It would no doubt get invaded both pre and post match and end up the same as most of the other Notts threads this season
