I didnt think Solihull’s ground would allow them to go up? Could mean a reprieve for 23rd place with one side coming up through the play-offs? Anyone but Salford for me, though would like to see Orient and Wrecsam come up too.

They give them 3 years to sort it out I believe, teams shouldn’t be denied promotion due to their ground anyway tbh, though guess there has to be suitable floodlights and away facilities.

Think the Solihull ground would need quite a lot of work done to get up to an appropriate standard.
Would be interesting to see them in L2

Interesting that you’re 3rd highest in the foul count. You’ve also had more bookings against you than any other team in L2.

What the fuck are Stevenage doing on 9 red cards aswell
A lot of our fouls are high up the pitch but they're ones where someone like O'Connor will have a nibble at the ball knowing he's probably not going to win it, but it stops a counter attack. Clever ones rather than thuggish.

Not surprised about the bookings against us. People chop down Andrade and Anderson for fun. I'm sure there have been a couple of games this season where all the opposition bookings were for fouls on the former!

Formed an opinion on Wellens yet?

Mainly positive so far. Has brought in the type of players we needed in January and we are starting to see the rewards with good performances and results. Talks a lot of sense in his interviews as well.

Not many chants of 'We are Wellens red and white army' but that could change soon!

Game was wee small hours local time so didn't manage to drag myself out of bed for commentary, so can't say much about the play. Two defeats on the spin a definite wobble, though performance apparently not awful.

I watched the game in Ifollow. I thought FGR were very neat and tidy and passed the ball really well. Your keeper wasn't the best with his ball at his feet which is always going to be an achilles heel when you play total possession football. I liked the look of Williams and Brown and imagine they have created most of your goals this season.

For us, we were patient and pressed intelligently and scored 2 good goals. A goal and an assist from Theo Robinson who absolutely busted a gut on his home debut and netted a fine goal. Very impressive.

The new players have slotted in a treat, centre back Broadbent looks a good player, Koiki the LB from Burnley is a much needed addition and Robinson completes our front 3 with Woolery and Anderson who all have good pace.

Not playing on Saturday is a bind but hopefully we can get a set of good results and not fall down the table too much.

Morecambe at home on Saturday. Won’t go so far as to call it must win but it is definitely a must not lose type of game. Our home record is abysmal this year so that will give them a bit of confidence you’d expect. Be nice if we could actually score a goal for a change if nothing else.

You have nothing to worry about, our defence is awful and we've lost our best centre back to another injury. You'll score.

We never score against you at home, have we even scored against you at home since that 7-2 end of season game? Sure we lost 4-0, 1-0, 0-0...

Yet oddly we always get 2 or 3 at your place which assume is down to how you set up away from home possibly and we generally struggle against teams that sit in. First goal is crucial, we get it hopefully that will open things up, Morecambe get it then we will lose 1-0.

Theo always worked his hardest for us, finishing a bit wayward at times but his workrate was never in question.

Interesting thought on O’Connor, I’ve seen his elbow on Ludvig Öhman high up the pitch a few times and it’s not looked ‘clever’ once.

Anyway, Yeovil looked in absolute freefall now. I’d have them to go down over the bottom two as it stands.

Keeper's the young lad who came in when poor old Monty got his teeth knocked out the other week, made some cracking saves against County at the weekend but suppose bit much to ask him to have his all round game together quite so quick.

ETA Just got round to the match thread on our forum and they all reckon we were clueless first half and only somewhat improved second so maybe not the decent performance I thought.

Yep I do think now they are the big target for the bottom two, Morecambe don't seem a deal better.
Something very wrong at Yeovil.

Has Koiki played yet? We had him with us in the summer and he was apparently great in a friendly and it was widely speculated that we'd be bringing him in on loan (with Jolley's links to Burnley/Dyche) and there were more than a few times we could have done with him.

There certainly is, and it doesn't look like being solved any time soon. The takeover talk has gone very quiet, some fans even speculating it is fake and just a ruse to buy the current regime more time.

Yeah that was his second full game at home. He also came on after 25 minutes in the win at Franchise as Matt Taylor went off injured.

From what I have seen he seems a decent player. Going forward he has pace, seems to be strong and has an excellent cross. Seemed to defend with little fuss as well but FGR didn't really exploit his wing much as an attacking force.

There is a rumour that we are using this loan with a view to taking him on a season long next season, which would be good news based on initial reports.

We badly needed a left back, and he seems to fit the bill. Means we can move Matt Taylor away from this position, which is a relief as he's bloody slow (but still gives 100% every match)

Also giving Darren Way a new contract was a bit odd wasn't it?

Koiki is class. Runs all day, dangerous going forward and made some brilliant stops last night. Got two of the better full backs in this league with him and Knoyle.

It was incredibly odd. Sadly we've come to expect the unexpected from our board. Whatever the sensible thing to do is, they'll do the opposite.

I had a look back at the league table after 15 games and you were 12th with 21 points. In 17 games since then, you have picked up 9!!

I'm sure you are completely aware of this and don't need me to rub it in, but that's staggeringly poor form.

It is and any other manager in the league would have been sacked by now. We've won 2 home games in the last 12 months.

Who was the Yeovil fan on here who was being very vocal about their early lofty position in the table ? He/She was making the point that almost everyone had them down for a relegation battle this season but instead they were troubling the playoff places .

Er, that may well have been me :emb:

Before the season started I thought that for once we'd put together a good squad on paper with, unusually for us, some continuity form the previous season as we'd started given players 2 year contracts instead of 1 year. The start we made did nothing to dispel that and we were flying. What has happened since makes it even harder to fathom as a lot of the players we have now are the same as then. Yes there have been a few changes but the core is the same. If it wasn't for our fine start we'd be dead and buried now. 100% the manager's fault. Baffling but I hold my hands up to that one

It could be worse, you could be a Notts County fan! I'm sure not one of their fan base saw them being bottom of the league in February coming.

I actually had a bet on them to get promoted, more fool me!

For what it's worth I fell into the same trap with Vale. Thought we'd be improved on last year but here we are in mid-February with the same turgid style of football, barely able to even buy a goal and nervously looking over our shoulders. I actually thought Yeovil would do better though may have been somewhat prisoner of the moment after what you did to Coventry last year.

Yeovil do that though, can be woeful for weeks than smack someone, did Newport 6-0 away for example and Notts 4-0 (although not as great as it seemed at the time)

And when I watched us rip them to pieces at their place in September I was shocked how bad they were but also at quite how confident and ruthless we were. Seems a loooong time ago now.

You can amend that to say I’m sure not one fan of any L2 club on here saw them being bottom of the league in February coming !

Thought so , just shows everyone how quickly things can change from one season to the next ( Notts ) or within a few months ( Yeovil )

Bury last season all over it. Despair not too much as you may do what we have this season albeit in non league. Bloody enjoyable this season for us after the complete fuckup last.
