I mean it's fair enough to wonder if DV is doing something for the publicity given his "reforms" at ours but this really doesn't look like one of them to me and any road up is more of a good thing than not so fair play to the man IMO.

Saying something thats already been very articulately said by another and claiming its your idea makes you look like a twat.

:D As if this is the first time in history someone's missed something having been done earlier. About three blokes invented the light bulb. Still, I can see he's lost your vote.

I don't agree with Vince on a number of issues, and certainly am not a fan of his campaigning style or constant self promotion particularly when he uses the club to make his points, when quite a lot of our fans disagree with a number of his political beliefs, but can't see a major issue with the actual point being made on this one tbh. I do like a bet, have accounts on a few sites, use the skybet rewards app etc but steer clear of online casinos as my grandad had a problem with that and it doesn't sit right given what he lost. But not sure it's healthy the way it's constantly forced down your throat whenever the footy is on the box, and some of the marketing/promotions are a bit dodgy imo, very easy to get hooked and very easy for kids to access.

In terms of how it's done, not sure why Vince feels the need to claim to be taking the lead on this one, I would have preferred a group of like minded clubs to have got together with the big step campaign and come out with a joint statement listing it's aims. This screams a bit of look at me, aren't I morally superior rather then lets tackle this issue and make a real change imo.

Agree with the first bit of this, always makes more sense to take collective action; second bit it's more that he's the sort who just jumps in with two feet when something catches his fancy IMO - i.e. he probably does want the issue tackled but he's going about it the way he does a lot of his other social and political issues.

I’m not sure what it is Vince is meant to be doing wrong here. Bottom line if he has done his bit to get people talking about the issue and addressing it then surely he’s been successful in so doing even if there’s a hint of self promotion involved so what.

The TV ads are ridiculous. You'll have a bookie ramming an offer down your throat in the first break of the half and then in the next one their ad is about some lad sneaking off to the toilet to place a bet or a BET RESPONSIBLY one. Merson on the Skybet ones too, what the fuck. That's fucked up. I'd love to see how many ads they'd be making if people actually did bet responsibly.

None. They wouldn't have the money to waste.

The issue for me is that not all clubs are able to be sponsored by their chairman's company. I'm not actually sure how sustainable Forest Green are, just seem to be one man's plaything which is no different than Man City, just on a different scale.

Dale has said repeatedly that his aim is to get the club to a stage where it is self-sustaining and, without having access to the finances to see the evidence, it seems that this is the direction it is headed. During the pandemic there has hardly been a week when the club hasn't announced a continued partnership with one of our sponsors or the arrival of a new one, and I don't just mean the likes of Hector Bellerin becoming a shareholder.

When football pretty much stopped, at least from the point of view of having fans coming through the turnstiles, he said that it could survive with no fans attending for at least the rest of that season. Clearly our crowds are smaller than many, if not most, of the rest of the division so our reliance on gate income to balance the books and pay the bills may well be lower.

Firstly, we've cut the playing budget in recent times, tend to look for young players we can sell on and have done pretty in terms of player sales over the last 4 years, but also we actually seem to have attracted quite a bit of sponsorship/investment outside of Vince's input over the last couple of years. The likes of Hector Bellerin and Robert Del Naja have bought into the club, we have signed a record number of sponsorship deals and have a long term strategic partnership with Candriam, a global asset management firm who I think have also invested in the club and sponsor a lot of our community work.

Be interesting to see our accounts this year, Vince reckons we'll be in the black again which is a far cry from the huge losses we were making a few years back. Undoubtedly the club is still bankrolled and reliant on his input, but it's a fair bit less reliant then it was when we were in the Conference.

While we stay in the league the telly money alone balances the playing budget now, it's off field stuff where his cash still counts though obviously they're not entirely seperate.

I didn’t know Banksy had bought into Forest Green.

Robert Del Naja is in the band Massive Attack, who are from Bristol...interesting that you think he is also Banksy, whose true identity is still a mystery, perhaps we could involve him in designing our next team kit!

If you've cut the playing budget this year, how will you cope in League One? Best blow it today then.....

Our current squad would probably finish bottom of league one. Just look at how Swindon and Northampton have done.

Have these people from Bristol become involved because of the vegan ethos? So if Vince pulls out what will happen to that?

It’s one of the rumours flying around, that Del Naja is Banksy. It stems from the fact Del Naja was a graffiti artist in Bristol in the late 80s as part of the Wild Bunch and in an interview one of Banksy’s mates referred to him as Robert. I’m a huge Massive Attack fan and think Banksy’s work is mind blowing so the thought of Del Naja and Banksy being the same person is rather cool.

I've a feeling that if you just Google who is Banksy, there's one guy mainly just known to Bristolians that everyone seems pretty certain is him, and it's not Del Naja or anyone else famous for something other than being Banksy.

Work starting end of the month on a new million pound state-of-the-art pitch at Rodney Parade. It will be a desso grass/hybrid surface with a 10-year lifespan. Current pitch to be ripped out, new drainage installed and replacement ready by early Sept.
I will give it till xmas before it resembles a ploughed field.

Not just the veganism, but also the environmental issues. Not sure what will happen when Dale ceases to be involved with the club, which will of course happen eventually...guess it depends who takes over.
