Yawn. Not even surprised or angry any more, seen too many Alex sides throw away winning positions and lose games late on too often to muster up any emotion. That game was a carbon copy of the one from 2 years ago. 3-1, cruising, switch off, Swindon score 3 to win 4-3.

Oh well, got a nice easy game at Notts County next week. Comfy 3 points there.

I have to add though, Graham Salisbury continues to be an utter disgrace to refereeing. When are they going to bin this useless toss pot off like they did with Deadman? McKirdy booked for blocking a keepers kick outside the box, not sure when that has ever been against the rules. Books 3 of our players for time wasting despite no warnings, assume thats fine, but most refs at least tell players to hurry up. Nope, not old Salisbury. For a bit of context, those 3 bookings were the first of the season for both Richards and Garratt and the 2nd for Bakayogo. Think that is the first time we've had a player booked for time wasting this season. Granted we haven't been ahead in many games to do it, but we just don't get players booked for timewasting and if we were prone to it, I'm sure we'd have had a few by now.

Richards get barged over and gets injured in the process, no yellow. Kirk booked for arguing over a free kick where it probably was a foul, but it isn't given and then Salisbury gives it several seconds after we've won the ball back because....reasons.

The quicker we get repeat offenders like him out the refereeing circuit, the better.

Talking of referees we had the infamous Trevor Kettle today.... actually one of the better ones we’ve had this season!

Ah yes, Trevor Bottle. Pretty darn useless.

A step above other L2 refs who fall into the category "fucking diabolical".

Ill probably regret saying this the next time he refs one of our games but the last few games we have had Kettle he hasnt been too bad I dont think. Hes obviously had some high profile "incidents" shall we say so its always highlighted when he refs us, or anywhere it seems, but hes been reasonable in our games of late in my view. Perhaps his reputation precedes him at this point in his career.

Certainly hast been any worse than anyone else, and probably better to be honest.

He’s probably been one of the best refs we’ve had this season actually.

Kettle is the best ref we've had this season by far, does this show how bad the others are now? How far standards have fallen since we were last a league side? Or has he improved?

Kettle handed out two yellows, Tongeys was spot on as was the Colchester lad for time wasting. He is a bit picky in terms of blowing the whistle to demand things are taken from the exact spot but considering some of the clowns we’ve had he was arguably the best this season.

The debut from Jules for us was one of the worst I've ever seen. Absolutely awful player.
Any Spireites got a good word about him ? Looked like he'd never kicked a ball in his life.
No, he's crap. We've got one or two more if you want them

We had Kettle last week. We have had some problems with him in the past but he was spot on.

I don't think he's ever refereed one of our games since (I may be wrong though)

With regards to the ref at Swindon obviously I wasn't there but from the brief highlights Richards clearly tries to boot the ball out of the ground after conceding a goal. The sending off looked good refereeing as he played advantage and went back afterwards to issue a card.
Like I say I wasn't there so that won't paint the true picture.
As for officials our equaliser was so far offside it was incredible .

To be fair the ref at Swindon yesterday made, at the very least, some odd decisions.

The free kick mentioned was probably the worst, I did think it was a foul, but the fact that the ball went straight to a Crewe player who played on for some time before the ref decided to give it.
That said, the time wasting was ridiculous, from as soon as Crewe went 3-1 up they were taking an absolute age, the keeper at one point took a full minute to take a goal kick. To be fair most referees don't do anything about time wasting until the last 10 mins, so being the team chasing the game I'm not sure it was a bad thing.

Crewe's mistake was trying to see the game out from 3-1, if they had kept attacking us we looked like conceding almost every time they did. By sitting back it played to our strengths (well less of a weakness), in so much as it took pressure off our shaky defence.

As Crewe fans we’ve said this for the last 15 years. Yet our managers still act bemused when it happens for the umpteenth time in a season.

Tbf, your time wasting was in the extreme - especially your keeper who punted the ball into the empty stand after our 2nd went in.

That happened at the world cup in 78, Brazil scored from a corner as Clive Thomas blew for full time, knocked them out, huge controversy.

Looked a mile offside but the highlights didn’t really clear it up for us anymore. Thing is you weren’t watching Wozza as Hannant took the strike and he just appeared so may have made the run but put it this way I didn’t celebrate for a few seconds expecting the flag to go up!

There goal was offside at their place against us so suppose it evens that one out if it was mind, although offside is down to the Lino rather than Kettle.

To be fair if you had a team that could defend, then it's not a bad idea.

Unfortunately for you, and us, there were very few competent defenders on show yesterday

I've never seen time-wasting like I did yesterday - I get Barnet are fighting for their lives, but we were shite and definitely there for the taking.

The fact their keeper was booked in the 54th minute and another player in the 60th for time-wasting shows just how bad they were.

That being said, Westley has definitely got Barnet up for it, we seemed to play as if we only needed to turn up, and a few of our players didn't even do that.

It isn't even benefiting us, we're going 1-0 up and reducing the likelihood of scoring more which is an iffy strategy given how sloppy we are defensively.

That was the highlight of our game
How there keeper didn't get booked for time Wasting I will never know. I have a feeling it will be down to the fact Trevor kettle couldn't be arsed run the 50 yards from the half way line just to show him a yellow card.

To be fair Andy it was about the only time I clapped all game, two sides trying to see who was the shittest.
Keeper also did some bizarre twisting ritual before every goal kick, half expected him to do a few sit ups.
Quality from the ball boy

Rumours that Russell Slade is getting sacked tomorrow, please Lord let it be true.

Apparently Coventry are keen to have him back if he does get the boot after he was so popular there last time. :animatedf:

Was funny! Think we’d just equalised at that point? The keeper took it in good spirits looking at it. Recall it happening years ago around 2011 when we were 1-1 with Northampton but they were down to ten men.
