We were appalling today yet managed to eek out a 3-2 win. Both defences and keepers made absolute clangers. Love Marc Richards though, a real league 2 goalscorer!

And play Paul Mullin more Flitcroft, he’s so much better than donkey Norris!

Still around there but not sure we'll quite make it, tbh.

We lack that little bit of 'something' and our record against the top 7 is too poor for a PO challenging side and shows how well we do against the bottom and middle third sides.

Looking at your line-up earlier it just comes across being short of quality to me.

Was it another Charles Cook rickett today.
I was so pleased when we got rid
I suppose it was. That’s 3 flaps in the last 4 games. His confidence looks shot. Problem is that Vigoroux, who is probably the best keeper in L2, is involved in a spat with Flitcroft and has, essentially, finished with us.

The first 35 minutes was probably the best I've seen us play this season. Deservedly took the lead. Matt Green should have been sent off for the challenge he got booked for then goes and commits two more. Right on half time Verheydt challenges for the ball on the half way line in a manner that I would expect a ref to book him for but he injured himself in the process so I think the ref took pity on him.
Second half starts and we, without a forward cannot keep the ball up the Lincoln end of the pitch. Equaliser was coming and probably more. Then the incident on which the match turned again. A rare foray up the right a cross into the box and the Lincoln defender gets the wrong side of Boldewijn. Tugs him back just enough for the ref to see it. It was soft but it was a penalty. Then from the same side a free kick to the back post, nobody marks Connelly who vollies into the net from less than a foot.
One other noteworthy thing occurred. Our centre half, Yorwerth, should have been booked for the worst dive I have seen on a football pitch for ages. Thankfully it wasn't accompanied by a scream.

Good result and good character shown when we were under the cosh.

Fair play to Kewell, he deserves a lot of respect for the job he's doing at Crawley.

Yorwerth didn't have many fans with our commentary team, one of whom is an ex centre half who was appalled by his constant diving during.
They were however impressed by your attacking play but the way you brought it out from the back, thought it was very risky.
Fair play to you though it clearly works for you as your run shows.
Think all the games we've played especially on our heavy pitch may have caught up with us today.

I thought Rhead and Yorwerth had a good tussle. Both were bending the rules, both were looking to get an edge and I think on this occasion Yorwerth came out in top. Next time?
The playing out from the back has me wondering if I should wear nappies to the game. The amount of times I'm almost crapping myself is beyond a joke.

Did one of the Cowleys get sent off?

Danny did. Not for the first time this season either...

Yeah Danny again.... Third time this season.
Claimed he went to drag Waterfall away from the ref at half time but he said something too but we all know what Kettle can be like don't push your luck with him and clearly Danny did.

Apparently for entering the field of play at HT because managers aren't allowed to do so?

Yeah, it lacks a little something. Not just at the minute but in the first half of the season as well.

We probably gambled slightly by going into the season with 3 of our 4 wingers being young lads, the GK situation isn't ideal and Raggett feels a bigger miss than perhaps it comes across as.

Signing so many in January probably doesn't help the cause either, but they were needed. Wasn't as if we just signed for the sake of signing - it felt like we had one eye on next season.

Not getting another striker at the end of each window didn't help.
We've wasted a lot of chances lately and again hinting the lack of another goalscorer in the squad.
We are also maybe a bit too smaller a squad too.
Still we're in the hunt for the playoffs which is pretty decent IMHO.

Looking at that we really need to buck up our ideas away from home!
That's shocking and nowhere near good enough for a team who want promotion

Looking at that, thank god we've got a 12 point cushion.

If you suffer from insomnia, watch our second half today, will sort you straight out.

Comments on yesterdays game (Crawley vs LCFC)

Great little ground with the nicest walk (from the Broadfield centre, past some allotments, over a wooden bridge spanning a brook!) to any ground from a car park I have seen.

Crawley had a really strong game plan, played out from the back particularly down their right wing. We were not at the races 1st half- 2nd half (first 20 mins) normal service resumed and equalised- looked as if we may get a 2nd- we pressed much higher and put Crawley under pressure.

Penalty (soft one but it would be expected as a peno if it was our striker) changed the game and we moved back to defending deep and inviting Crawley to come at us.

Crawley deserved their win today, we were off the boil however it seems inconsistency is a watch word for many teams in and around the play-offs which is why a team who can string 3 or 4 wins together put themselves right back in it.

Put it behind us and move on to Crewe

Our next 4 games on paper are very winnable. Chesterfield (a), Yeovil and Cheltenham (h) and Cambridge (a). We seem to have sorted out our home form and found a consistent scorer in Richards. I’m relatively confident we’ll be at least in the play off shake up come the end of the season.

However it’s been confirmed Matt Preston is out injured for the rest of the season so joins Dion Conroy on the sidelines. Olly Lancashire is having pain killing injections and so we are VERY light at centre back. Any decent fit free centre backs available?

Carlisle v Chesterfield

I thought Chesterfield were a pretty decent team to watch. They were poorly organised and unsophisticated on the ball, but they seemed to have a desire and determination that makes me want to see them stay up, and probably one of the loudest away followings we've had this season, which is impressive given it was far from the biggest and the club are in serious trouble.

As for the game, it was a big improvement on recent performances. Despite that, there was still more negativity than positivity in the tweets and texts to Radio Cumbria after the match. They seemed to think it was another dull performance, I'm not sure what they were comparing it to, perhaps they were thinking of years gone by where we've played exciting football, but if you compare it to any of the last few games I've seen us in then it was a huge amount more entertaining. In either case, even though we're condemned to mid-table this year and so three points doesn't really make a difference, I can still enjoy a win for what it is.

Chesterfield's goalie was a pretty good humoured chap. Is he a loanee? Doesn't seem like a player who is expecting to play in the Conference next year. He was smiling and laughing with the Carlisle fans behind his goal when he had to turn back from running to join in what he thought was celebration of an equaliser, and then applauded the Warwick Road End after the game.

Not sure how they keep losing if everyone keeps praising them!

Thought Chesterfield were very poor, and I can't see them getting enough points to escape relegation. They weren't bad on the ball, but didn't create an awful lot (thought they were unlucky with the disallowed goal). They also took the worst corner I've ever seen, tried to play it short but put it straight out for a goal kick.

Slightly better from us but still not much to shout about, just waiting for next season.

I've watched the disallowed goal again. While you can never 100% say that the Chesterfield player behind Bonham was the difference between Bonham making and not making the save, it's not so much a case of how the player affected the game, rather that since the player was in an offside position, if he does anything at all that could affect the game then it will be offside. Perhaps though we were lucky that he was there, and had he not been there Chesterfield would still have scored and it would have stood.

That corner was pretty hilarious, also they were very susceptible to putting it out for a throw in if they came under any sort of pressure which must have frustrated their fans no end.

Jack Lester was arguing that we were lucky to keep 11 men on the pitch. I presume he was referring to the tackle in the centre circle that saw Liddle booked and the Chesterfield bench go ballistic. I couldn't really understand what all the fuss was about. Liddle brought the Chesterfield player down with a clumsy challenge but there was nothing especially reckless or dangerous looking about it, he just sort of came through the back of him with his knee and they both fell in a heap.

The other Chesterfield man interviewed had seen the footage of the disallowed goal but clearly doesn't quite understand how offside works, which is worrying for a defender. He seems to believe that because the goalkeeper wasn't fouled by the offside player, the offside player simply got in the keeper's way as he went to dive and couldn't get out of the way in time, the goal should have stood.

Well they weren't good exactly, just decent to watch, kept going and showed a lot of heart, that kind of thing.
