As soon as Lincolns promotion buzz wears off natural order will resume and they will just be like any other depressed L2 club with attendances of 4000 or less.

When we are high and flying and backed by a good regime we get crowds of 10,000+.

And when the buzz where's off you'll be getting 4000 like the rest of the depressed L2 teams.

Has anyone watched Championship level football? Most of the games there you have very little time on the ball, its highly physical and very direct.... Most of the English leagues play the same way

Don't worry we'll bring some atmosphere for you when we come up to yours.

Who do you follow? Don't need any bringing but you're more than welcome to add to it. Best atmosphere in the league by a long way no question. Just ask the Luton fans that came up.

Why, have Luton already played all 23 teams away this season?

Or have Lincoln already played away at all 23 other grounds for your own assessment of best by a long way 'no question'? :dk:

I'm all for playing football in the right areas but I think for the majority of League Two playing football from the back is asking for trouble. All it needs is a little pressure, a misplaced pass and suddenly the opposition is through on goal.

Perhaps it alright if you've got good, ball-playing defenders in there, like maybe Alan Sheehan. But the majority of us have brutes.

Do mix it up but don't be afraid to lump it at a target man particularly from goalkicks and the keeper's hands.

Nothing infuriates me more than seeing a short goal kick to Tom Eastman who already has a striker within ten yards of him. Half the time it eventually ends up back to the keeper who lumps it forward it anyway.

All for nice football but there's a place for it.

Well they played at 17 of them last season.

You don't need to have visited every ground this season to know. Any good football fan knows which teams have good atmospheres and which don't. You know from experience in most cases and reading and listening to people.

Don't try and argue it because it's the truth so it's impossible to argue. Suggest one that's better

Impish mate, the problem I have with all this is not that the Luton fans are lying or anything, but it's just their opinion and nothing else. It could well be that you lot only upped the noise because you knew you were playing a big side. I'm not saying there is no atmosphere at SB, in fact, logic dictates that it's a real possibility with the crowds you're getting and the current feel good factor among the fans, but down here the atmosphere at grounds changes rather quickly, sometimes in only a couple of weeks time. In the past when I could make away games I would go to some grounds anticipating a good atmos from the home fans as that's what I had been told to expect, only to then go myself and you could hear a pin drop.

Mind you, this atmosphere at grounds thing doesn't just mean lower league footy, but at nearly all English grounds. If you want to see real support then watch certain European leagues, and you'll be surprised to see home crowds backing their sides non stop for 90 mins. You'd be even more surprised when you learn that those fans making all the noise support a side that is on some 10 match winless run!

Fair points Vinny, this is it though mate..Lincoln fans back their side for 90 minutes which as you say is a rarity. At most grounds all over the country the away support will outsing the home crowd regardless of numbers due to congregation and day out mentality.

The greeks/germans/eastern europeans are something else entirely, granted.

At Lincoln you get this at home games now which don't get me wrong hasn't always been the case, far from it at times. When we dropped out the league 6 years ago a young group of lads started following the club creating the 617 and it's grown and grown and now with the constant atmosphere from them together with the returning fans of years gone by due to recent success it really is something now. Make sure you make the trip when Cambridge are in town, I think you'll be impressed.

To be honest I didn't think the atmosphere was that good at Lincoln when we were there. There's one block who generate a constant noise and fair play to them (they did so last time we played them in the Conference too to be fair)... but they do so with a drum, which in my opinion kills atmosphere rather than builds it. Drowns out all other crowd noise so you can't get any back-and-forth going and is just monotonous after a while with the same two or three long dull repetitive songs hammered out on the fecking thing.

Just my opinion, others may like the drum thing. Personally I am extremely glad that they have been banned from the Kenny for as long as I can remember.

Got to say yesterday was probably one of the best atmospheres at an away match since we returned to the FL. Lincoln could barely muster 3-4K home fans on my last visit.

Ken thought different maybe you were in different stands?

Or maybe he just likes listening to the same three songs based on monotonous drum beats on a loop more than I do?

I'm not denying that there was noise being made, so if that's your only criteria for a "good atmosphere" then great. For me it takes a bit more than a looped drum track all coming from that one section to make a proper football atmosphere.

It's not just something I'm holding against Lincoln in particular. I fcuking hate drums wherever they are found. Doesn't matter what club it is, they are wank.

To be fair there's no stand-outs in the division atmosphere-wise at the moment that I can think of. Certainly not the Kenny these days, it's a pale shadow of what it used to be. Maybe we should get a drummer...

Or maybe he's just a more upbeat person. Doesn't sound like your outlook on anything is particularly positive.

Not true. I like long walks, meaningful conversations and football atmospheres built upon singing without backing instruments.

Don't get me wrong - I wasn't referring to the drum and the air raid siren. They should be banned from all sports stadiums.

I suppose its natural though for opposition football fans to poo-poo the atmosphere at their opposition teams ground. Luton fans cannot really be a good judge of atmopshere with the current state of it at Kenilworth Road, which seems to have lost a vast majority of its intensity bar a poor refereeing injustice.

Hardly any atmosphere at lower league grounds anyway as most are half empty or less. Vale Park used to be rocking in the mid 90s during the glory days but bar parts of our promotion season it's been dead. Millwall aside I don't think I've come away from an away ground thinking "what an atmosphere"

German football has it to a tee but we are too OTT and expensive to match that. The Koln fans take out the odd violence which was unacceptable but in the main was great scenes yet we are all shocked and appalled by them making atmosphere and taking 20000!

Lincoln having an air raid siren go off for their corners is tinpot and embarassing as fuck. You're not in the non league anymore.

Our siren is great. In an age where every club sing exactly the same songs it's something that actually makes us unique. Besides, we've had it (on and off) for decades.

Right so people from Lincolnshire have not discovered fire yet.

At the start of the season, I looked at Luton's fixture list and put predicted results against each of our matches and set targets after individual games, based on when we play who.

I came up with an 87 point target needed for promotion:
-Current: 13 points (actual 14 points) - based on a fairly difficult start.
-After 10 matches: 19 points
-After 20 matches: 38 points
-On Boxing Day (match 24): 45 points
-After 30 matches: 55 points
-After 40 matches: 77 points

Based on 24 wins, 15 draws, 7 defeats

Why? You'd think the last thing brought up to Lincoln (and Bradford) fans is a smart arse comments about fire.

The days of the air raid siren being used alongside the fire department are long gone. There's a fire station right next to Sincil Bank. You see them doing their training exercises there most match days.
