wasn't sure where to put this as didn't really need a new thread, but I just read that a group of Port Vale fans paid for a plane to fly over Stoke's final game of the season to mock them going down.

the plane flew over the Britannia stadium when Stoke were playing 180 miles away in Swansea!

Not sure if that's true or not, but if so, epic fail!

It is indeed in the main true and cringeworthy too.

With a banner stating "We Stood There Laughing PVFC"

It was meant be done at Swansea I believe but Arsenal fans had the plane to fly over with the farewell message to Wenger and the home game it wasn't done in case they beat Palace so they flew it on Saturday over Stoke-on-Trent. (Maybe not as much of a fail as it was visible to more people than the stadium), alongside the statue of Gordon Banks having the Vale shirt adorned....

Stoke tried to get revenge but couldn't get up on Sprosons statue to put the lardies strip on him as its too big so attached it to his shoe.... which looked as though Sproson was wiping his feet on it!

Someone has more money than sense to pay for it and yes I get it that they revelled in our relegation last year but after the worst season in our history (well joint worst) we can't exactly be smug either!

Plus it will bite us on the arse eventually when we next suffer relegation at some point in the future!

Ah so is there only 1 plane that can be used to do these banners then?

ok so not a total fail as you say as people in Stoke would have seen it, but clearly not quite the impact they had intended!

Maybe it was smurf that paid for it? :)

A plane mocking a club for now only being 2 leagues above you deserves an entry in the tinpot thread.

Now that Mowgil's team is moving up a league (Which will be short lived), the L2 forum is going to need a new moderator for next season. I would put myself forward but strangely I never get picked, so I nominate ShoddyCollins to be a mod as I need someone on my side for a change.

Maybe then, some of my posts would not get deleted. :sna:

Fucking tragic.

I bet more Lincoln fans will buy it than GTFC fans to watch them stuffing us. :ffs:

Notice that FL Club's don't have to produce match day programmes from next season.

Are others continuing to do so? We are, but it doesn't seem like Notts County will be. Their Chairman was suggesting that they'd have to charge £20 a time to make money, whereas we make a profit on ours, so I'm not sure where he's going wrong.

I didn't know they had to. Makes sense. Such an outdated concept (by a good 15 years) and mostly shite, surprised they've lasted this long.

I still think programmes are worthwhile in a shortened form. As a kid, I learned all I know about other lower league teams and players from programmes and I still think that'd be useful for the kids of today too. Maybe a smaller format to be sold at a smaller price including a teamsheet, history of the opposition, a famous match in history between the two sides and the opposition players would still be viable along with a poster each week of a first teamer from the home side?

We're carrying on but halving the size and cost. Only 30 pages now. Used to get them when I was younger and have loads in my parents attic. Don't really see the point of them now when all the info in it is now online. Guessing the older people prefer them.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

WHAT'S IT LIKE SUPPORTING A JOKE CLUB GRIMSBY FANS???
Shouldn’t throw stones if you live in a glass house.

As I’ve said before, our programmes are pretty good. This past season, they were excellent, giving a lot of info on the opposition, having at least several player features and doing some historical segments too. Well worth the £3. On saying that and knowing us, we’ll scrap it to keep with the status quo.

Is it me or do Grimsby have a tendency to get over excited by stuff?

All that hilarious bullishness after a pre-season win or two every year and now after managing to not lose for a few games and just about scrape survival they're putting out a commemerative DVD to celebrate the amazing achievement.....lol.

What pre-season bullishness? Are you on about the season after we lost on sudden death against Brizzle at Wembley and then raised £100,000+ out of our own pockets which we used to beat you in the playoff final? Because that was the only pre-season we have been cocky since you've been mixing it up with us...and we went up.

But yep the DVD is hilariously tinpot, we're not denying that!

As for programmes, I agree with PH that ours is good. I follow the guy who has been designing some of our covers on Instagram, he does a lot of stuff for Plymouth and Mansfield (?) too. I think bringing in independent elements to programmes like this is vital for them to flourish. The problem with programmes is that they have to be a sound piece for the club. If there was a way of programmes being made more like fanzines they would be way more appealing but they have to adhere to certain policies and standards. The clubs are never going to publish anything negative about themselves or other clubs but I do feel like they could perhaps sometimes poke a little fun at themselves. Try and nudge that line without crossing it. Programmes are so dull and formulaic 98% of the time.

We'll probably only be doing an e-version of our programme, were already doing them last season alongside the physical copies.

Same info, a lot cheaper to produce and no wastege.

Haha of course FGR. So #woke mmmm. Digital copies only, get your free iPad and espresso machine when you renew your season ticket at our new wooden stadium.

I notice there was an earthquake in Grimsby yesterday. Was it another Lincoln transfer rumour that set it off, or was it just Rhead falling over?
It was Chris FGR cumming so hard when he saw that DVD release.
