The Palestinian flag is not the flag of the Hamas regime or the Palestinian authority, it's the entity itself. I'm not really into that sort of gesture politics but it does not imply supporting either of the current regimes as opposed to the cause of a dispossessed people.

Which would be true, except for the fact that on the day the flag was hoisted he hosted someone called Husam Zomlot at the game...who is the Palestinian representative to the UK and a senior member of Fatah...for me that is a clear demonstration of which side he supports.

Read about him here:

It is the flag of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, of which Fatah is a part, as well as of the Palestinian Authority. I have no qualms describing it as a terrorist banner, given the history and practice of both bodies. It's a disgrace to have it flying in Forest Green.

Vince is perfectly welcome to his own political beliefs, but neither me nor many people I know want our club involved in debate around the Middle East conflict, flying that flag or to take sides. It’s got nothing to do with us, our local region or football. So stop saying ‘we’ decided to support this. ‘We’ didn’t and don’t.

I complained to someone associated with the club about the flag and was told that if Dale wants it to fly above the ground then there was nothing anyone could do about it...what he says goes.

Is there anything that any of us can do, it is clear that there isn't much support for it...at least among those of us who post on this forum. The sad thing is that he is so obstinate that if people complain he thinks that his point is being heard...exactly the same as his support for Just Stop Oil.

You didn’t. That’s why I asked if you were.

The issue has nothing to do with people talking about it, DV refuses to discuss it in any sort of depth in any interviews apparently. Not a surprise given the fairly limited views/knowledge of the situation in the region he actually seemed to have when responding to critics on Twitter. Which is all a lot different to his other campaigns.

To take part in the rainbow laces week etc whilst flying the flag of a regime that criminalises homosexuality isn’t the best move imo. Plus if you are going to promote a cause, you ideally need to be clear in what your goal is and how you want it achieved so there are no misunderstandings. I mean, what is meant by ‘Stop the illegal invasion and occupation of Palestine’? What counts as Palestine? Stop it how? International sanctions? Military intervention? Increase in violence against Israeli settlers? It’s an absolute minefield, can cause a lot of offence and has absolutely fuck all to do with our football club.

Apparently Vince was ready to take the flag down but he just had a browse on here and saw people talking about it and now he has put the flagpole in cement so it is gonna be there FOREVER.
Well done FGR fans hope you’re proud of yourselves.

Agree totally with the rainbow laces campaign, something I consider to be wholly positive and necessary, surely there is a significant conflict of interests here...bordering on hypocrisy.

As for violence against Israeli settlers...just a few weeks ago Palestinan "freedom fighters" killed a British-Jewish woman and two of her daughters...there is violence on both sides, senselsess suffering and pain, supporting one side will not end it.

This is indeed an absolute minefield, best kept away from our football club.

Exactly my point. Can we talk about football instead?

Not sure about the Championship though. Are Preston really smaller then QPR or Cardiff?

Also Plymouth in my opinion have some of the best support in the Country given the monster distances they have to travel.
Their away support numbers still absolutely staggers me sometimes although I guess compared to other Championship teams smallest six is probably about right.

You’re right, i remember going down to plymouth once and taking 400 odd which i thought was a cracking performance. They filled the away end here.

I bet PNE fans weren't happy about that. I bet all you could hear for miles were mutterings of the word 'Invincibles'.

Not much in it I grant you -- But probably just a little smaller. Amazing I've watched all three in FA Wembley finals.

Our matches against Newport have been reversed - we now play them away in September and home in the new year (March I think)

Wimbledon?

I think ourselves and Wimbledon also charge £27. I didn't realise Crewe did also. Stockport initially were going to charge £27 but reduced their prices after complaints.

Are there ticket prices higher than that for away fans? Surely not.

It seems to mainly be the clubs that have been in L1 recently. I get that they're not going to put their prices down necessarily but for the same bunch of teams that were the most expensive last season at £25 to then all put them up by a couple of quid is a pisstake. Rochdale were £25 too, can't imagine those prices going down well at all in the National League.

Interesting read on DV/Palestine too, I didn't know any of this. I also didn't really know that his politics were seemingly vanity based, does kind of add up really. Seems like quite an image/aesthetics driven individual and that bleeds through into FGR. Not saying it's bad to have a brand at all but I always thought that he had the politics/knowledge side of things locked down.

One thing that I would add though is that his support of Labour is probably partly down to wanting to oust the Tories, isn't it? I've traditionally voted Greens in locals and Labour in General Elections and although I'm wrestling with continuing this I'll probably stick to it and vote for Starmer when the time comes even though I really don't like him.

Very poor that DV is displaying authoritarian characteristics by not even entering a discussion about that flag. Clubs should not be used to push divisive political agendas. Our owners have taken quite a lot of advice from DV apparently, now I'm wondering if that was actually not a smart move!
