Our youths were knocked out of the cup by QPR in midweek. Seemingly our talented bunch played really well but lost 3-1. Joel McGregor, our 18 year old Left Back is already impressing in the first team and we're likely to punt him in Jan, sadly.

It’s a real shame, he’s a potentially really good player. Obviously goes into Vale folklore for that goal at Wembley and scoring within moments of coming on in his debut against Brentford in the FA Cup and would have loved him back with us but doesn’t really seem to have pushed on.

I've just read the statement, Tbh not far off what Scott Brown said when he left. We all wish him well, his honesty was refreshing and believe me he was very popular within the club and fans. It's become a semi-regular thing since we returned to the Football League in 2016 - last year it was to do with child poverty. They did a kid's design your own kit competition and the team wore the winning design on Boxing Day against Shrewsbury.

A couple of years ago we did one for the Hollie Gazzard Trust (a charity set up by the father of a local girl murdered by her ex-boyfriend - he used to play for Cheltenham in the 80s) and before that one for a lung cancer charity as our, then, fitness coach's partner had been diagnosed with lung cancer.

As I understand it, the EFL rules state clubs can designate one home game a season to wear a promotional kit, so this is what we choose to do with it.

Our record in these special kits is brilliant as well. The lung cancer one we beat Crewe 1-0, the Hollie Gazzard one we beat Leyton Orient 2-1 and in the Child Poverty one we beat Shrewsbury 2-0.

Same date as ours this year, we're doing it for Let Them Eat Cake, which is a local charity tackling homlessness.

I think the shirt template is actually better than our home kit, albeit perhaps not really Lincoln stripe enough.
