I've actually given some thought to this. The ref would have been waiting on the linesman to flag for the ball to be over the line (if I remember correctly the big issue was the linesman missed it). Both linesmen were regulars in the Championship, so it's feasible they thought the ref had a watch on for goal line tech and didn't feel the need to flag. The ref not seeing a flag assumed the ball didn't cross the line.

This doesn't defend the decision - it's an absolutely crazy decision - but I think adds context to what Darren Moore was told.

I think you're probably right. Crazy that officials would not know this before the game but it's the amateur EFL for you.

Looks like our takeover is now back on after ASAP Rocky was acquitted yesterday.

Rumours are that he is part of a consortium being headed by his lawyer Joe Tacopina. Nobody knows for sure who is involved, or the motive, but one thing we all do agree on is the need for change. We are dying under Palios, so dont really have much choice but to roll the dice.

Charles Vernam out for the season with a thigh injury after only just getting back from being out. Gutted for him as we're a better side with him in it. Looked quality at the start of the season and then decent in his few appearances during his recent recovery. Big blow for us that.

Kieran Maguire tweeting about the balance sheet over at Notts…

Overall losses seem grim but so long as the spreadsheet bros are all over it, all's well?
Well, the number is going down (think it was £2.4m last year in the NL) and this doesn't include £1.2m or so in transfers received since June. Not clear how much of that was spent on Bass and Traore. Not ideal obviously but there aren't many teams breaking even these days.

Is he ever not injured? Lads career is disappearing to injuries.

Another game moved for TV, this time Notts County. Our first away game moved to the earlier slot. This will be the 3rd in 5 Saturday games we've had moved after Barrow on Saturday, Donny on the 15th and now Notts County on the 22nd. I await Port Vale being moved with growing inevitability.

I'm guessing next week that will be confirmed but yeah already resigned to that one. Looking at the fixture list that day Walsall and Wimbledon are playing each other too so who knows maybe they fancy a bit of that.

£27m is an absolutely enormous debt holy shit.
Maguire is a great source of info generally but he reported the £14m two years ago so I don't really know which one is the actual debt. Either way, it's less of a loss than any of the seasons in the NL as far as I can tell (barring the COVID season anyway) so that's a positive and the plan to develop and sell players seems to be working to get that closer to zero.

Imagine fans still claiming the owners aren't ambitious after that level of combined investment :dk:

Almost halved the losses of the previous financial year thanks predominantly to player sales.
Indeed, they are certainly putting their hand in their pocket, but it seems mostly to keep the lights on. Buying cheap and selling for more is a fine strategy but when it only halves your losses you feel something elsewhere needs to change. As a fan you want to see that £1.2m in player sales reinvested in the squad really, but it probably just about covers your debt interest.

They certainly are and thankfully the majority has gone into the club's infrastructure which will have long term benefits and revenues.

I believe that's our lowest annual since the weird bros took over. Trending down:2thumb:

Hmmmm debt interest :pond:

Not really, signed a new defence and goalkeeper, fees spent on 4 or 5 decent players, compo for two managers...all gets bigger numbers going up the leagues. I'm delighted with the way the Danish bros are running the club.

They've sustained losses every year despite selling players and effectively, managers.
We've spent a bomb on relaying the pitch, bought a warehouse for the fan zone and paid if rumours are to be believed, six figure fees for Jatta and Bass and now Traore.
Despite all that spending we're still not in the top three on budget apparantly.

The budgets in this league must be insane as I found out this week what our players are on per week and it’s absolutely eye watering so god knows what teams like MK Carlisle and Vale are paying.

Our CEO reckons when we first came back down in 2019, our budget of £2mish put us towards the top, but now it's way north of that.

Think we're in the £3-3.5m range and that's not close to the top.

And bear in mind when we got relegated from L1, we had the fourth/fifth highest budget in that league and that was approx £4/4.5m at the time.

Inflation must be a huge challenge for clubs at our level. You would imagine wage demands as well as increased food and energy costs really must be stretching everyone.

Yep. Our CEO said our wage budget is between 4 and 5 million this season. It's madness at this level really.

They are as are the annual signing on fees. It's not just this league, it's all the way down to ambitious clubs two or three divisions below us.
Football economics has been mental for as long as I've watched football.
