Lost 1-0 to SheffU at Bramall Lane.

On paper that's a decent result for our second-string team, though it sounds like they could have been out of sight first half, and they had a few chances second half to make it 2-0. It does sound like we had some good chances second half ourselves to equalise... perhaps guilty of the same wastefulness that saw us draw a blank on Saturday.

Get in there.

At work atm. Gave a few people a shock by shouting ‘get the fuck in’ when Thomas saved that pen to win it!

Well done FGR, great effort.

Saw earlier on that fatty got himself sent off at Crawley. Casey must have enjoyed that one even if just came short.

Dimitri Sea scored an overhead kick, Zanzala looked like an incredible signing based on his 20-minute run out.

Scunthorpe didn't have a lot about them - loads of wasted aimless long balls - but managed to work a couple of very good chances.

To the surprise of nobody we lost without scoring, who would have guessed.
to be honest if your players had kept playing after the final whistle with nobody else on the pitch they still wouldn't have scored.

I'm glad everyone we play now sees how bad we are and realises I'm not mental to be always talking about how terrible we are.

We're the worst team I have ever seen at this level.

Zanzala looks a big threat based on that cameo.
Sea still looks very raw - but that was a peach of an overhead kick for the winner.
Tom White and Olly Banks in midfield ran the show and should be the 1st choice going forward.

I can see us playing with three "combative" midfielders most games (I'm counting Banks in that) - those two and Grayson would probably be our strongest. Was impressed with Devitt first half, even though he was much higher up the pitch.

Still need a striker and a defensive midfielder, I reckon.

Lost 10-9 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. They scored in the 93rd minute we scored in the 95th!

Evans sent off. He went ape when Ludwig lunged into a Gills player right in front of him. It was rash, ill timed and completely over the top which left the ref with no choice but to brandish a red....oh Ludwig got booked for the challenge.

I think we had 3 players making proper football debuts tonight. Off the three Ludwig looked the best. He is bloody big but he has a nice touch and is quite quick...he won't be with us for long. Such a shame it was him who missed the penalty.

Good game to watch. Shame about the result.

i really can't stand referees. they spoil so many games. the one v northampton was wank but it didn't change the result at least.

did either of you go? he ruled out a 'goal' (whistle went before the shot in fairness) for a foul on their keeper in the first half, i know keepers just get decisions nowadays but smith had his back to him, jumped in the air, their keeper comes straight through the back of him and drops the ball, wilson taps it in. ref gives them a freekick.

and the penalty is laughable really, it was so clear he got the ball first. even as shit as this clown was tonight i wasn't worried at all that he'd give a pen until he gave it.

anyway, we played ok, loads better when we changed formation at 0-2, we battered them in fact and were unlucky not to get a second. Bailey looked sharp when he came on and AMOOOOOOOOO is back, he was awesome. it's massive if he can stay fit.

big decisions team wise v tranmere, im not against this 3 CB thing but maybe we just go for it a bit more at home especially

Some more Bahamboula magic tonight

We did have few forwards back in the team. Didn't go but sounded a good game, great turnout from you lot.
It's hard to judge a match from just commentary, but sounded like Rovers rode their luck going into a 2 goal lead, though decent finishes from Foley and Nevitt, but then switched off a bit although both sides had chances to win it after Oldham levelled. As Rob says we're rubbish at penalties.

Didn't sound like Bahamboula's effort was in the same league as last season's worldie against us.

Oldham deserved to go through overall. A somewhat disjointed performance from us, but somehow managed a 2 goal lead.
Delighted to see Elliot Nevitt score on his debut in which the adverting hoarding/barrier collapsed in the scenes that followed. In which a over excited young Tranmere girl got push punched clean off her feet by a cowardly Oldham steward, think she’ll be suffering from whiplash in the morning.

Yeah i see you had a keeper making his debut called Blondy Nna Noukeu, then he faced 10 penalties and couldn’t save one, you’d have to have a Heart of Glass not to feel for him.

I thought we were actually pretty good tonight.

The amount of times we pressed high in the first half and won the ball in the opposition’s half was great to see. With a bit more composure in the final third we could have easily been 2-0 up at half time.

Tactically, Wellens made a switch at half time with their wing backs pushing much further forward with Bostock almost playing as a quarterback. They gradually got into the game and Labadie going off was a bit of a turning in that he’s so effective at breaking up play and winning free kicks. Without him we looked a bit lightweight in central midfield, but still managed the game okay with a couple of outstanding saves from Rushworth.

It’s obvious that we’re missing that cutting edge up front, but hopefully as is the case with Shade, we’re trying our best to get the right player in the door rather than rushing an extremely important decision.

Gills and Crawley need to get in touch with Gareth Southgate. 19 bloody good penalties. Even the one that was saved was right in the corner.

Edit. I dont normally share interviews but just to prove that Yems is not always a sour puss when we lose....https://youtu.be/cddoubdQYx8

Oldham deserved it on the balance of play, we were poor in the first half. Both teams require strengthening/gelling if we're looking for any thought of the play offs this year, though. The Oldham pitch invasion after winning a penalty shootout in the first round of the league cup is in the top five funniest things I've ever seen at a game. Number one remains Joss Labadie
