My post of 1st May.
Final could be repeat of 2017 Conference play-off Final: FGR 3-1 Tranmere.
Be great to have same opponents and listen to 'The Wild Rover' being sung once again at Wembley.

Assume these are held back for fans to be able to attend?

Yeah seems that way. I’m not sure on whether it’s the same timeframe for Wales though?

Also due to Newport’s pitch being relaid they’re playing their home leg first despite finishing 5th.

Skybet have;

Newport 9/4
Tranmere 5/2
Morecambe 11/4
Forest Green 3/1

Can't believe Morecambe aren't favourites.

My guess is that is exactly the way Derek Adams would want it though. Nice little thing just to give that extra bit of motivation to his players in case any were feeling down about not sealing it yesterday. Tranmere 2nd are the most questionable, that is just going off reputation of the club than anything people have seen lately.

Personally I’m with the bookies though that I just got a feeling Newport will be the ones to go and win it though, they seem to have rediscovered what was working for them earlier in the season after a bit of a slump.

Skybet obviously haven't seen us play recently.

Both teams won away game with same score, so little to offer in predictions.
Tranmere generally do better against Morecambe that might give them confidence.

FGR did win in Newport this season but immediately their form dipped.
Generally Newport bring something out of the bag when playing FGR, one of their closer neighbours.

My Wembley forecast: Tranmere v FGR

I backed Morecambe to beat Newport straight forecast this morning.

Guess that's the unpredictability of the playoffs though.

Newport are a pretty decent team when they are allowed to play on grass, rather than forced to try on mud.

Odd that Tranmere kick off at 6 then, unless I'm completely missing something.

If we get to the Final they I’d fancy us because we have players that are nicely suited to a big Wembley pitch.

However I just can’t see us getting past Morecambe unfortunately.

Saw something that suggested our game also at 8.15pm.

My inclination at present would be a Morecambe v Newport final. There are too many things that aren't right with TRFC to fix in the short term. If Cooper was still in charge at Forest Green, I'd fancy them, but think Mike Flynn is more savvy and will get the Exiles over the line, although Forest Green playing the home leg last doesn't help.

Our home form is really good plus its a boost that we have the home leg last and that there's a bit of a gap to allow some of our players that have been injured time to be involved, It'll be interesting cause Tranmere doesn't score plenty of goals plus Stockton might have somethings to say

I think the favourites for each tie have to be Morecambe and Newport. Morecambe have been on a great run and they’re a really strong side while Tranmere rather coasted in. Newport are a good side who probably would have finished closer to the automatic spots if they hadn’t been playing in a swamp all season. Forest Green are unpredictable due to the change in manager, who knows what they’ll be like in the play offs.

I hope Morecambe do it as it’ll complete something of a fairytale for them. But it’s the play offs and anything can happen on the day. Plus if there are fans there then that’ll add something that the players haven’t really experienced much of this season - atmosphere and pressure.

I'd like Morecambe for no other reason than having a fantastic season.

Do FGR have any strikers? Are Newport still trying to play a bit more this season? Are Tranmere fans still not sold on Hill?

The answer to the last one is a resounding no to Hill.

Probably backing Newport for these. Would like to see Tranmere do it, though - partly because of the way past season ended; mostly because masi and Rob can join each other on the League One forum.

Losing is a price worth paying if means i see the back of him and that other Bolton gobshite Keith Hill. They both spout absolute drivel.

I was under impression that teams promoted via play-offs struggle in 1st season, 'cos they've had a month's less preparation for higher division.
Checking the past 8 years [only full records I can find] it seems as if I'm mistaken.
Teams getting promoted tend to finish next season mid-table. Obviously the last two seasons have been the exception but they were both seriously affected by Covid. Tranmere were demoted from League 1 when season finished early while Northampton gained a last minute spot in play-offs, and were promoted, under same circumstances.
Therefore whoever does get promoted must look forward to playing in higher division with full confidence.

And it appears that teams finishing season in 6th & 7th spot are the ones generally promoted.
Hey, hey my forecast of a FGR v Tranmere final looks promising.

It's usually the way it works with playoffs, the teams that finish in the final two playoff places typically have hit a bit of form to get there, and they carry this momentum into the semis and final. Whereas the team that finishes a place outside the autos may have had a couple of bad results to miss out on a promotion place, and therefore have the mental effects that come with it.

Hopefully our injured players are back in training this week. If we get through and it's a Morecambe vs Newport final, I think everyone knows Kevin Ellison will score the winner.

Tranmere is a very tough game, evenly matched. Looked a good side at our place but obviously we were down to 10 thanks to another stupid red card. Is Vaughan going to be fit? I saw he came on at the weekend, rushed back?

He turned into David Brent at Bolton so I'm assuming it's along similar lines!

So if Newport aren’t allowed fans for their home leg our home leg will be behind closed doors too.

You hardly have the ball and score goals. We have the ball a lot and hardly score goals. Just let us have the ball and ride out the 1st half and you should be fine. 148 shots on target and 9 of them were penalties. 37 goals from open play.
Keith Hill said he would give us rock and roll football.
Michael Buble is more rock and roll than the turgid shite he has produced.

I watched the Keith Hill video and thought he came over ok. He did say at one stage that it's not his fault but if he strongly believes that then why not? Maybe it's a case of if you've already made your mind up about him it was bound to be shite and excusive. I actually thought that he was saying mostly that the players were a lot better than they were showing and that they've now got a chance to prove that. That's motivational isn't it?
Keith Hill's Rochdale sides were mostly exciting and risk-taking and were successful. Sounds like that's what he's asking the Tranmere players to be like, because they're capable.
