Think we were losing 1m a year, and PJ had lost all interest in us by this point anyway. He wasn't going to give us one penny more than he could towards the budget the last few seasons. Johnson may well have saved us from non - league 30 years ago, but it's thanks to him we're down here now.

Nobody knows. Mark and Nicola had nothing to do with setting this season's preparations. By the time they came in, we had already advertised and sold our season tickets (with Ryan Lowe on the poster - that went down well), set our budget, recruited our players and appointed our manager. They took over in the final couple of weeks of the transfer window but didn't really invest too much after that.

However, there does seem to have been money available throughout the season, as we've signed a load of loans, paid off several players in January, paid off 2 managers and coaching staffs and improved commercial 'off field' incomes. We won't be rich by any means, but we shouldn't be as neglected as in recent pre-seasons.

As for the loss - no, I don't personally expect one. We've just sold one of our old training grounds for £5mish and aside from committing £2mish for a new training complex, we have an overdraft to pay off (which we will probably do) and should then have a little in the bank. Palios has already said a top 5 budget next season and nothing suggests that won't happen.

If it's going to be Top 5, it won't be that much of an increase on that one you started this season with, then, although you lose some central funding so there's a gap you'll have to plug there.

This season is probably slightly higher, but normally you'd probably need to be around the £800k-£850k for Top 5.

Tranmere isn't in Cheshire. It's in the Wirrall. How poor can you get at geography!?

If you're being pedantic, it's actually the Wirral, with one L at the end, not two. And it was in the county of Cheshire until fairly recently, since which it's been defined as Merseyside. Sort your own geography out before you go criticising someone elses!

I think it just fits English better, even though it's incorrect.

Same goes with Ukraine - everyone puts "the" infront of that as well, though it's not the case - you don't go to "the spain" or "the france".

I think most are confident we will improver and play some decent football under him (can't be hard) he cares for the club and he was very much a passing midfielder - so I don't doubt that is what we will play under him.

Whether he is tactically sound enough to win games regarding of playing style remains to be seen

Are Mansfield fans generally happy that Adam Murray is going to be there next season? Havnt seen anything to convince me he is gonna make you better, granted with what I am guessing are Cox's players.

I'd say 70-30 in favour for Murray maybe.
Personally I am against Murray being Manager as I don't think he's going to be good enough.

but good luck to both Chelts and Tranmere in the conference, its tough, but not impossible to get back out of....Shrewsbury, York, Luton, Mansfield, Oxford, Carlisle, Cambridge, Barnet have shown its very possible

Think Tranmere only have the same hope that we had as lets be fair they are a shambles on and off the pitch and the negativity and apathy that surrounds the place has clearly helped relegated them out of L1 and L2, I can understand that frustration of not being able to turn it about as we have the same problems here, them like us I think shall just have to hope that new owners and new direction at least pushes them right way in summer.

for Cheltenham I think they should not be too downbeat, its not easy but I think Chelts fans should look at the club they have now to the one that came up from the conference, the whole place is different, you used to have to give away fans a tin shed, you can at least go down with the club transformed top to bottom so that it has a chance to return.

Come on Shoddy, after 10 years of living in Liverpool you should know that the "The" thing only works with Wirral and Asda. Also, Home Bargains must always be referred to as Home and Bargain, so you did get it part right at least.

Relegation for Tranmere saddens me deeply. 3rd non-league side I've visited then along with Redbridge and Stockport. I hope they come back up soon.

I always tend to think caring for a club is vastly overated when it comes to management. Ability is always going to be more important than sentiments.

Agree totally, to a degree it can become a problem when a managers job isn't working fans attachment to him means they hold out for longer when results aren't going right and It causes more problems.

However, what was a problem under Paul cox was the style of football - we've actually had some alright passing performances under Murray but we don't have the players - he will need to bring in his own guys next term and start the season well.

That was pretty funny to be fair. On my birthday though which wasn't so.

replacing Yates with Buckle was an absolute shocker. That man should never get a job in football again. They may have been on the slide at the time Yates was sacked, but were still 10 points ahead of the relegation zone, and it was tight at that time, they were only 8 points from the playoffs after a decent early spell in the season. Any other manager but Paul Buckle would probably have been able to do something with that... even Yates probably wouldn't have gotten them relegated.

Buckle was the worst thing ever to happen to this club. He came in and completely ripped apart the team, got rid of good experienced players (Byron Harrison, Jason Taylor) and relied on youth players who clearly weren't ready. Getting rid of Yates when we did was a big mistake - either he should've gone last summer, or we should've stuck with him for this season. I have no doubt we'd still be in the FL with him in charge.

What has gone wrong with Paul Buckle's career? He did a great job at Torquay, getting them out of the Conference after only two seasons and nearly making it to League 1 two years later, but he's been a disaster at every club he's been at since. And it can't be simply down to being one of those managers (like Gary Mills) who's good in non-league but crap in the League, because he did poorly at Luton who were still in the Conference when he was there.
