Murray seems to be recruiting very well this summer. Tafazoli or whatever he's called will be a big loss though.

Yeah, I'm quite pleased with what Murray has done so far, seems to know who he wants & got it done pretty early. We're still a striker & a winger short. Maybe a right back (don't know if Bennett has been brought in as a right back or not). Only thing Murray doesn't seem to think we need is a central midfielder, which I think we do. Thomas, Clements & Chapman are too lightweight together for this league, need someone else.

I think anyone scores goals up in Scotland?!
Outside of Celtic the Scottish top flight is top half league two/bottom half league one quality.

In short, god awful.

Murray does see Bennett as a right back.

I also think Murray sees Lee Collins as the combative central midfielder with Taft and Pearce at centre back.

I hate to curse us, but we might be alright next season.

Whereas anything like automatic would be ludicrous to suggest, i'd like to think if things bounce right we'll have a decent tilt at the playoffs.

Spoken to a Rochdale mate up here in Manchester who rates him, said would have still done well for Dale but suffered with injuries last season, which is why he was released (only going off what he's said) thought he should do well in midfield for us.

I certainly think we could do with another forward

For us though there's a difference between wanting one and needing a CM, we already have 5 CMs excluding youngsters which in a small squad is more than enough.

I can't see Muz bringing in a midfielder. Rose can play the role we want IMO. He was excellent at the start of last season before being moved to Right back to cover Hunt and then wide right in midfield.

Rose should never move out of the middle. He's never a right back, or a right midfielder. He's awful in both of those positions.

Orient fave signed calum Kennedy. Very decent left peg and good going forward. Solid but not spectacular in defence. Did very well for us when needed but ultimately us not as good as Jon Meades

Apparently we are in talks with Plymouth defender Peter Hartley.

Glen Rea to Cambridge according to some transfer Twitter account that probably gets 99% of things it posts wrong.

He is more than likely signing for Luton. I'd be very surprised if it weren't the case, although he may not be an automatic starter here.

The club he chooses will also have to pay a fee too.

Pelly has also pretty much made the transition to winger now as well, so we have a couple of players who can play those positions.

Personally think central midfield needs a major looking at, Smith and Lee are not good enough and Doyle i dont think will be around all that much longer after some pointed comments made a few weeks back and whilst I liked the look of Bakinson I would be shocked if he played a significant starting roll next season at any point. Plus we weren't banking to lose McCourt. Even with Rea signing, who is more of a defender who I can do a job from what I understand, I think we are missing at least 1 decent central midfield player at the least.

Not sure how this is all going to work with Jones stated aim of 20 players.
Olly Lee isn't going anywhere (unfortunately); we need to have some variation in players. Our central midfield is probably the most congested area of our side.

Just what was needed. Now for two centre backs and we'll be about there for business this summer. Odd.

Whoever he signs for, he would be a good signing. We are in for a CB so it could be true but like you say, more likely to be Luton.

In terms of raw numbers, maybe. In terms of quality, not so much.

We will achieve nothing this season with our present central midfield options. I'd be amazed if Jones doesn't sign at least one first teamer there.

I wouldn't be surprised either, but we can't have a 30 man squad again this season.
Just over 2 weeks until pre season I think - could be a lot of announcements in the next few weeks.

Looks like we're in for Oldham's captain, Liam Kelly. Strange one. Coco must be waving those Euros around again.

We've only got 15 senior pros on the books currently, one of whom is out injured until at least Christmas. Rea + 1 or 2 new keepers + 1 or 2 new midfielders I reckon (maybe Pigott too, Jones loves him although it's gone a bit quiet on that front recently).

Ha!

Look at these big heed Donny fans thinking their too good for this league, they will struggle against the likes of Newport and Morecambe.

Really? I think we need much more...

Two ways of looking at it, really. We could, as you've mentioned, build a really big squad to cover for the abolition of emergency loans. Or we could bring a bucketload of youngsters through; the Andy Edwards appointment would suggest that we will. We could do with another senior wide player, but that's it if we're going the youth team route.

Muppet, I've seen more boasting from Carlisle and Mansfield than us. I have no idea how we will do anymore than any other fan of any other club does. I feel we have made some good signings but wether Fergie has the ability to make a team out of them remains to be seen.

We've already got 22 senior pros on the books + 2 on the transfer list.

I think we have very different definitions of "senior pros". We have 22 players with professional contracts, but that is not necessarily the same thing.

Jones has also said its 20 senior pros that he will work with.

That is very different from having 20 players on the books.

I suspect that a player like Doyle might still be here, but not part of the pool of 20 first teamers, if he doesn't shape up of course.
