Cullen, clearly a great finisher but just never got fit and had struggled before moving to us with fitness. Unlucky in that he got fit and in form just before covid finished the season off, scored two on the first weekend last season then never got much luck again. Never scored away from home though bizzarely with us!

Hannant I havent heard myself. he chipped in with a couple of goals, worked hard but feel he is to similar to Worrall in that he's not overly pacey whereas a better balance is Worrall one side and a blistering pacey winger the other would be better.

Guess he might work in a 3-5-2 as a wing back though.

A week today is the final court hearing to see if the warring parties can sort things out before September when the absolute final decision on whether Power has sold 50% of the club or not. Just been reported the Directors Account is £4m light and, coincidentally, Power’s personal account is £4m heavier. I’m not sure whether what he’s been up to is just morally corrupt or downright criminal. Either way, he’s singlehandedly ruined our club.

James Wilson confirmed- 2 year deal. If fit it could be a very good signing.

very happy with that. Him and Rodney could be a great partnership. Wilson as the main striker and Rodders zipping in and around him.

Was once highly thought of at Man United but for whatever reason never quite hit the heights. I do like the fact we are focusing on players around 25 years old. Needed to get younger throughout the squad.

DC does have a decent history with forwards to be fair. Matty Taylor wasn’t exactly prolific until he joined Rovers and he did the same with Adebayo at Walsall. Hopefully he can repeat the trick with Wilson.

Wilson has all the attributes to be a 30 goal a season striker at this level. The only issue is how much he wants it and is he affected by having to drop down the divisions. Only time will tell.

But, on the face of it, a very good signing for Vale.

Decent signing, wouldn’t have minded him at Valley Parade.

He is from Biddulph which is about 5-10 miles from VP so maybe "coming home" will see him settle.

Decent scoring record at Salford and according to DC he was played wide there.

Brain: Don’t say it Don’t say it Don’t say it.
Mouth: Port Vale are going to piss this league next season.

You won’t be hearing that from me. We haven’t even got a keeper yet. No doubt will get the usual ones joining up to declare us the preseason champs at some point before losing their login details once the real stuff starts though.

We've only 12 players so far... no keeper, one out and out striker and no left back... work to be done still I agree.

Sam Hornby might be available?

Wilson does have a bit of a Lee Angol vibe about him, he’s gotta start doing the business now, good opportunity for him, going to a club with actual working toilets.

not really. I wanted to like him but he could never nail down a starting place really.

the best benefit of doubt write up i could give him is that we never played a sytem which benefitted him and so he was fighting for scraps against players who were a bit shit but better suited to a lone striker role.

he has a decent goalscoring record but i think he's probably one you need to give good service to, which we never did.

niggly injuries mount up and he always seemed to be carrying too much weight - probably due to the lack of minutes over the last few years.

it wouldn't completely surprise me if he signed in L2 and did an ok job for someone who plays to his strengths but i wouldn't be putting money on it.
Looked at his career Mcdonald signed him for Blackpool so could be something in it

Lovely stuff. Can't say I know if he's any good but the Carlisle fans seem a little bit...upset... so presumably he's half decent. I get the impression he'll play alongside Quigley or wide of a front 3.

I fully expect to read comments about how he "isn't that good anyway" and they're "better off without him". If not on here, certainly on Twitter.

Can't really blame Zanzala, this way he gets to play and train full time rather then training on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Carlisle whilst working a day job at Dobbies Garden Centre advising customers on wheelbarrows, goldfish and seeds.

We are apparently signing a league two center half who had a very good season. On a free so out of contract. Who could that be?

Rhys Bennett at Carlisle maybe? He was a standout for them by all accounts. Other that if it’s a free you can rule out the likes of Godwin-Malife as they would still require a fee I believe.

hopefully not Rhys Bennett;- as us signing him would be the final thing to make Hellogregory go on a new relegation rant

not a rumour, but we let go young striker/attacking midfielder Kaldi Lolos. With three young strikers ahead of him, Lowe felt he could not give him enough game time. May bite us on the backside. I think he may have what it takes at league 2 level. So I’d expect a few clubs to have a look at him.
