Chris Merrie from Wigan Athletic for us. We signed Charlie Jolley from them in january, bit of a theme.

I liked Manny, thought he would push on more tbh. Scored a cracking late headed winner for us at Barrow in the conference days, see they've forgiven that but if it's right he's London based maybe even the well known charms of Coops won't be enough.

Being London based won’t make a big difference for Monthe I wouldn’t have thought, he hasn’t played for a London based club in years. Seems to be the have boots will travel type. Think he played for Southport in the past as well?

I see Danny Johnson has been at the very least speaking to Mansfield:

If he can get paid more money and move closer to his native North East he will do so. Suprised a League One side hasn’t gambled on him.

Would be a shame to lose him to another League Two side, but if he can get more money and a better/longer deal elsewhere closer to home then so be it. We don’t hand out long term contracts and he will be 30 this season.

On his day at this level he will score plenty of goals with the right service.

Wigan fans rate Chris Merrie and they offered him a new contract so can only be a positive that we’ve signed him.

Wish Paul Lewis all the best. He was ok. Tbh he’s one of those where you don’t notice him doing much but he works hard and does a job. We played him too high up though he’s definitely more of a deep lying midfielder.

We have also signed Nathaniel Knight-Percival on a free transfer.

We’re starting to get the ball rolling now!

Danny Johnson signs for Mansfield on a 2 year deal. A shame for us to lose him, can imagine Mansfield would’ve made him a very, very good offer - closer for him to the North East as well.

Hard worker, clever and a very deadly finisher on his left foot.

He tailed off in the second half of last season after his 5 week long injury, came back into the team lacking some fitness and as Ross Embleton was trying to organise us better so we didn’t concede as much, which resulted in us being boring for a month leading to his sacking.

We was similar under Jobi McAnuff and Johnson was clearly getting frustrated playing in a team that wasn't creating chances.

If Clough can play to his strengths he may well fire Mansfield into a promotion push.

If he can stay fit cause that was the issue when he was at bradford before us but Adams got him fit

Aren’t your season tickets over 400 quid as well? If you can’t afford an average league 2 full back I’m surprised your fans still bother, fair play.
We won't bother this season, we will get our lowest attendances ever.

Tl;dr - Good finisher, works hard, shit at football.

Yep, I remember him at Southport and presumed he was from the area. We've had London-based players in recent years (I think Byron Harrison was in London?) but it's probably not ideal.

And yeah, I also remember his last-minute winner at our place. I think we'd scored a late equaliser just before it.

A very important signing, we desperately needed a finisher, we created shedloads under Clough but had nobody to put them away.

NKP (Tranmere) is steady but far from stand out, can’t say anyone would have him back here.

Looks a plan with the height of the new lads signed so far! So as it stands:

Keeper TBC

James Gibbons
Aaron Martin
Nathan Smith
Dan Jones

Dave Worrall
Tom Conlon
Brad Walker
David Amoo

James Wilson
Devante Rodney

Looks the strongest XI so far with probably another 8-10 to join.
Is it already time for the hilarious vale optimism? I swear every season you've got the best team in the league

DJ is a great signing for Mansfield, first half of last season he was scoring every sniff he got. Doesn't do a lot else other than score, but if you supply him that's no problem at all.
Definitely a top 7 standard striker, however he is a miserable bastard.
Still, reckon that's excellent business for Mansfield.

rumoured on our forum to be "crossing the t's and dotting the i's" on a contract with us... and the rumour starter wasn't one of the usual crackpots - so might be something to it.

Barrow seem to be building a decent side then with Jason Taylor just thrown in there for comic relief or something

He's signed up on a 2 year deal as player coach and he'll be mainly coaching I think - and only play when we have injuries - IF we manage to sign a midfield hard man.

Luke Hendrie is not signing because we can not afford his wages.

We cannot afford the wages of someone released by recently relegated Grimsby.

What a season incoming

We didn't release him, his contract is up and we have offered him a new one.

This thread seems a constant cycle of everyone shitting on each other's signings.

Surely someone has signed someone decent?

Well we should still be able to at least match what a team in the league below us is offering, you'll have outbid us easily.
