Well we should still be able to at least match what a team in the league below us is offering, you'll have outbid us easily.

Not that much of a surprise, you threw money at everything to punch above your weight for a few seasons, now you're skint as a result of it, we have just been taken over by new owners who have said it will be a better budget than last season.

This thread seems a constant cycle of everyone shitting on each other's signings.

Surely someone has signed someone decent?

Barrow apparently

We won't bother this season, we will get our lowest attendances ever.
What is happening at your club -- I still remember the time you finished third to Sunderland in the old second division.

We're sleepwalking to non-league due to bad decision after bad decision really, players seem to look terrible here and then be great at other clubs. Just nothing seems to have gone right for us for a few years now.

Luke Hannant has signed for Colchester after being out of contract with us. I’m not sure he’s good enough for league 1 so staying in league 2 makes sense and it’s localish so won’t require much upheaval. Good luck to him.

We’ve made a good start with Josh Coley from Maidenhead who looks like he will be exciting if still a bit raw. And Scott Brown as player GK coach looks like a good bit of business.

Barrow have made a couple of good signings. Zanzala in particular.

Vale seem to have done well so far. Wilson and Martin will do well for them.

But, there will probably be a bunch of average looking signings that turn out to be outstanding players a la Paul Mullin.

Spend a season or two at this level and you’ll see why.

Conor Wilkinson and Lawrence Vigorouroux are set to move on from us as well - no idea what clubs they're going to, but Wilkinson had offers from abroad.

We've apparently got a keeper lined up to come in, who used to play in the Premier League - So either a 50 year old Brad Friedel or a youngster I'd imagine.

Dan Happe has apparently signed a new contract with us.

We're also trying to sign Omer Beckles from Crewe.

NKP (Tranmere) is steady but far from stand out, can’t say anyone would have him back here.
That bad then?
I still think we'll get a younger central defender in too, but Mellon has worked with Knight-Percival before and knows what to expect.

NKP had 1 very good season with us living up to his Rolls Royce nickname he had acquired during his time at Shrewsbury. Unfortunately he was more like a Reliant Robin the rest of his time with us

I don’t think he’s ‘that’ bad, he’s just played his part in earning promotion of course but many on our forum will say he is. He was in L1 (released 2019) with us and struggled especially later on in his time here. Contradictory given last season but I’m surprised a side who will be in the top 7/top 3 would take him on.

I think it may be that Mellon knows NKP is a battler and we had too many snowflakes in the side last season, who melted when the pressure was on.

John McAtee has agreed to join Grimsby, as he's 21 we will receive compensation for him.

I would have been gutted this time last year but he was a disgrace last season, his and a lot of other players lack of effort was the reason we struggled so much.

He will probably turn it on for Grimsby though knowing our current situation.
You can’t really stand in the way when a player wants to better himself by going to a bigger club, you should be pleased for him.

No way will Beckles be with us next year. Heard a while ago he wanted to move back down South and would be willing to drop down a division, but then Wigan apparently offered him a contract last month too...

Looks like Rhys Bennett is going to be his preferred replacement here after we missed out on Lloyd Jones. But time will soon tell.

Sounds like Stockton is signing a new deal with Morecambe. Good news all round I think, he suits them and we should be looking at better.

Looks like Liam Ridehalgh is on his way to your lot. It will be weird seeing him playing for another team after 8 years at Tranmere.

Whats he like?
He is a bit of a marmite player for us but he never hides in games and gives it all he has got. You would never call him a tough tackling defender but capable as a CB as well as a LB. He can knock in some superb crosses and if you get Andy Cook he will get a fair amount of assists for him. They played together for two years so he knows where he will be in the box.
He was responsible for the most ballsy performance i have seen by a TRFC team by getting himself sent off after 48 seconds in the 2018 NL play off final win.

Tom Naylor was apparently close to signing, but looks like he’s off to Wigan now. Was always a long shot getting him to drop down, but according to Nixon on Twitter he was about to have his medical here.

Good to see he’s done well with you guys. We had him on loan a couple of years ago and he was very poor but to be fair, he didn’t get too many starts. He’s obviously benefited from regular games and he’ll definitely score against us next season!

Was raw with us 2-3 seasons back but scored his first goal and then had to go back to Wolves for personal issues or something so didnt get to see him settle.

We had Donovan Wilson for a brief period on loan in 2018. Never really thought he was up to much but he was playing under Neil Aspin which was virtually impossible for any attacking player. Certainly seems to have developed when seen him for Sutton a couple of times on TV.

Played on loan last season. Obvious link with Gilmartin. Pretty good, I reckon. One year deal with a sell on for City.

That's right, played 2 games in a 7 day emergency loan wasn't it. Seemed to be fairly competent. Hadn't played a lot of first team football but at 24 a good age. 1 year deal a small concern but needs must I guess.

Wollacott did well on loan for us a couple of years back, very good shot stopper overdid the sweeper keeper bit at times. Kept a clean sheet in the league cup away at Bournemouth against the likes of Callum Wilson, Dominic Solanke, Josh King and Ryan Fraser.

Think we could do a lot worse than Jojo to be honest. Guessing our assistant Rene Gilmartin probably worked with him at Bristol City.

Given the puddle of shit we are expecting to fish in for players most fans are happy enough with our first signing.

Clough said that Naylor was having his medical, and claims his agent was still in discussions behind everyone’s back with Wigan who eventually came in with a bigger offer.

No doubt that it be a very good signing, but I’m not quite sure it was a good idea considering he would have comfortably been our highest paid player. Rather that money go towards a striker, or even a top GK for this level.

Quinn is expected to sign next week, we have a loan deal for a young GK to come too, plus close to another loan for a first choice. Rollin is essentially on the transfer list so the fanciful partnership with Hewitt probably not happen Grimsby fans, good news is you can probably sign him if you’ve got 50/80k to pay.
