Is this the same Twitter guy who posted the Mark Hughes starting on Gavin Skelton video to flog season tickets then deleted the next day?

Not new players but Aidan Barlow has signed a 1 year deal with an option for a further year, Jury’s out. Bobby Faulkner signed a 2 year deal, lot of excitement regarding his prospects could earn us a lot of money in the future.

Mansfield are going to be after around 5-6 players this window assuming nobody else leaves, including two GKs. Only proper link so far is Michael Jacobs from Portsmouth. My gut instinct is the club will back Clough with some proper quality to go straight in the eleven.

I don't know if you need a right back, and he's 34 and AFAIK under contract, but Nigel Clough has already signed John Brayford (Burton) four times for various clubs...

Would have loved Levi Sutton back here, hopefully he barely features and we scam a loan out of Bradford in Jan

Would be extremely surprised if Jacobs drops a league but cracking player if you can keep him fit

For any Stockport fans it’s been mentioned on our forum you might have had some interest in one of our out of contract centre-backs Nathan Smith. Typical old school centre-back, not the most technically gifted but a nightmare for strikers just as a pure defender. Not sure how much is in it but if he were to go would wish him all the best.

We’re after three CBs this summer so definitely in the market.

Are you guys not offering him a new contract then?

Guessing from your description he’d fit into the centre of a back three?

Surely we will offer him a deal. Find out tomorrow I guess.

We’ll almost certainly offer him a deal though the retained list should be announced tomorrow hopefully. We do work to a strict wage structure though so whether now we’ve been promoted that increases enough to tempt him to stay we’ll see.

He is definitely most effective in the middle of the back three. Put him there he is excellent. We have had to use him at RCB for a period due to Lewis Cass unfortunately having his season cut short due to injury though where hes not been quite so good as his ability with the ball isn’t the greatest.

Haha we have attempted to lure him across already, you could argue we do need a RB and I’m pretty sure we will try to sign Brayford again. Worried about signing too many players around that age though, already got Akins, Perch and maybe Quinn.

Clough said some of his targets would only come to us if we had got promoted - assuming Jacobs is one of those.

We had Jacobs signed in January but then the Cowley’s pulled the plug and gave him a run in the side. Know for a fact if we’d been promoted he’d have been through the door at our place already.

But sadly I looked at the table and we didn’t finish 3rd. Funny because I could have sworn we did, ah well.

Don’t think you did, he was on his way to us then got a run in the Portsmouth side and decided to stay

Sounds like he has got a good agent! Will take that rumour with a pinch of salt

Not bothered about Baker-Richardson. He scored a couple of crackers but fitness dubious and he seemed much too easily satisfied with his own performances. His attitude to getting vaccinated - which he had no need to discuss in public - stank.

Faz Rawson released, decent L2 CB on his day.

Would avoid if possible. Doesn't anticipate the bounce of the ball very well, not a good trait for a CB.

On our retained list I would have been a little harsher, probably added 2 or 3 more names.

Who? You’d have to go for the older lot really, I think we will be fine long as who we bring in is players you expect to start often.

They have performed steadily enough but we can get better players than Bowery and Hewitt.

Of the oldies I'd keep Quinn. Perch has done little wrong but I'm convinced not a CB, O'Toole the better of the two and we can't go without natural CBs again.

Some balancing of the squad is needed because we've a lot of players out of position, not the style of player that we need for the position, or just don't have any natural players at all (e.g. no proper wingers).

Missing out on the CB at the beginning of the season is ultimately one factor that's cost us (see the feet and body position of Perch on one of the Port Vale goals and Hawkins getting sent off 60 yards from his goal).

What Hawkins did was absolutely criminal and it’s not the first time he’s been exposed like that. If we go into next season with him as 2nd or 3rd choice CB then we can expect another failed promotion campaign.

He’s very good when a team plays route 1 or has limited forward options (see the Northampton play off games) but any striker with a hint of pace or intelligence and he’s found wanting.

Wilson must have had the biggest grin on his face seeing Hawkins in defence.

If Clough gets who he wants this summer I’ll be surprised to see Bowery starting too much, he’s a handy player to have in the squad. I agree re missing out on Tom Naylor, and that’s the most important signing we need to make this summer - a very good CB.

We're joining the looking for two keepers club, after Magnus Norman has turned down his contract offer, though we might only be after one as we have two young keepers who might be ready to step up to the bench.

Personally I wouldn't have released Mark Howard and regret it even more now that Norman has left but Simmo doesn't want an old keeper (Howard is 36) and said so.

Sounds like we'll have to get in line behind Mansfield when looking for keepers
