Our resident ITK reckons we have agreed deals with a central defender and a winger, but not mentioned any names. Assume the defender is Bradbury from Halifax, but no idea on the winger. To be announced this week.

Mansfield fans, opinions on Nathan Bishop please? Quite a lot of talk saying we’re set to sign him on loan. Source is Alan Nixon.

I actually think he’s overrated by a lot of our fans, and definitely suspect at shot stopping, he’s more than capable of a worldie save too typical L2 keeper I suppose. Bonus is young and improving, definitely finished the season a better player.

I don’t think it’s a bad signing for you guys if he does but I’m not arsed about him not being here next season either.

Paudie O'Connor signs for Lincoln. Good move for him and one of the three out of contract players expected to move on. Big signing required now to replace him.

Best of luck to Paudie but he’s very replaceable imo, susceptible to a hot headed moment and rather slow. Very good in the air though. Least difficult to replace out of the three OOC I expect to leave.

Surprising one on the face of it.

We've got Montsma (albeit out until November with an ACL), Walsh, Jackson (who're both solid L1 defenders, just never fit at the same time), then Poole (Player of the Season at CB this season after his switch from RB) and Eyoma.

So he must offer something we haven't already got (being able to play 40+ games a season is a decent start ).

I’ve not kept up with League 1 since our demise from there, which was his debut season but if you’re looking too 6 then I wouldn’t hope he’s anything other than back up.

He has improved since his last season up there but lacks mobility for league 1 imo. Very good in the air though.

Ahh that'll be it then, we really struggled against the Wycombe, Gillingham, Rotherham, Burton etc.

Definitely not looking at top 6, it's pretty impossible to compete up there for us. Mid-table is like a league win for us who spend most of the season in the bottom half!

Meant "us" as in all bottom half sides rather than specifically Lincoln but I'm sure both sides are looking forward to drawing each other in the Pizza Cup.

Out of the three, O'Connor was the one I wasn't bothered about. Wilsden summed it up perfectly. Very replaceable.

Charlie Colkett set to sign this week. Underwhelmed but not surprised. I'm just used to us signing injury prone midfielders every year. Goalscoring record is as poor as Ainley last few years and given we've lost Mandron and Porter which will lead to bigger roles for Sambou (5 professional goals to his name), injury prone Agyei (1 consolation vs Accrington where keeper put it on a plate for him) and CBR (questionable fitness and hardly prolific), then I can't see beyond a season of struggle this season barring a miracle. Regan Griffiths is an attacking midfielder whose never scored for us and Oli Finney has scored more lines than actual goals in the past 18 months. Too many losers and shrinking violets from last season still stinking the squad out and some of our fans genuinely think we'll be in promotion contention? Hilarious.

Been in talks with Ash Palmer from Stockport. Would walk into our team given our back line is young, inexperienced and suspect. Seriously think he'd be the type of player who'd raise standards at this football club because some of our current pro's have taken the piss for the last year or so. I certainly would be worried if Offord and Sass-Davies was our CB pairing in front of Richards in goal next season that's for sure, so a new keeper and two experienced heads are very much needed at the back. All depends whether Palmer wants to fight for his place at Stockport or be guaranteed first team football here I guess. But I'd be very encouraged if he did make the switch to Gresty Road.
I'd be surprised and a bit upset is Palmer tarnished his reputation by going to Crewe! :cool1:

All seriousness though, Ash has been colossal for us the past few years and is a steady and solid CB. Untested in the EFL, but should be more than capable of making the step up.

He's not the most mobile, not the best with the ball at his feet but what he does bring is great organisational skills, leadership qualities, and is superb in the air (particularly at attacking set pieces) 22 goals in all competitions since he joined us.

only really fussed about Palmer leaving for sentimental reasons, if he wants to join nonce FC for more security with a longer contract that’s fine by me as we will be able to replace him with someone better.

I think Palmer will stay on with us but if someone offers him a longer deal elsewhere, he'd be foolish not to have a look.

I don't think he's necessarily as likely to start every week for Crewe as he is for us as like you say he's EFL unproven. His reputation with us may actually mean he'd be more likely to get starts here.

Dale have signed Ethan Ebanks-Landell on a 2 year deal.

Been on loan with us before and did pretty well.

Should be a good signing.. :)

I've heard that you've offered Shaun Whalley a contract so could potentially be him. Be a very good signing for League 2. Don't be fooled by his age, he's still rapid and hasn't declined in age. I wanted us to offer him a new deal but after 7 years, all good things come to an end eventually. Definitely would have one of the best wingers in this league on your books if it is him.

Hoping we might be in for Whalley. Strong Hurst connection as he was a regular for most of his time there, I believe?

Wish we had never got rid all those years ago. Goes to show what Saunders knew at the time

We have signed Joe Riley from Carlisle. RB/CM.

Our defence is looking alright, much better than it was at the start of last season.

Riley-Daniels-Clarke-Monthe-Gordon

Play him midfield. He can do alright filling in as a right back but he’s far better in midfield.

We're crying out for someone who can organise our defence. Our three experienced centre halves last year were a joke. Hoban retired weeks after signing, Thomas didn't give a toss and didn't see eye to eye with Artell and Daniels was a total liability which is why we punted him off to Walsall.

We probably need 2 experienced CBs but Palmer would be exactly what we need. Our 4 players who can play CB are 22, 21, 17 and 17 so we desperately need experience and an organiser. You could tell how rudderless we were at times without a senior voice at the back.

That said, he could be using us as leverage to get a better deal with yourselves. I'm sure others will also be interested too given the season he's just had.

so Crawley fans - now that you've got wierd American owners who will look to get as much publicity for the club as they can what do the think the chances that they will re-sign your former player and England Soccer Aid goalscoring sensation (said firmly tongue on cheek) Mark Wright?
God, I hope not.

Seemed as nice bloke. Decent around the training ground from rumour but National South level, at best, now.

Also suggestion of a loan deal confirmed, which some think the Liverpool reserve keeper who did not impress on loan at Notts County. Would be concerned if that’s true. The others sound good news but we still need a few more to sign up by pre-season even if the marquee signing(s) come later.

Better than his brother, then.

Josh is playing for Billericay (his name is tricky dicky and he plays for Billericay) I believe. Isthmian level? Bet he aint got a hair out of place still.

Go on, you know you want him back. Start a rumour you're signing him...the outcry could be fun to watch.

Best goalkeeper I saw play against us last season. We beat them 3 0 it would have been 5 or 6 without him.

We were linked with him bit don't think he'd come in as definite number 1 and would have to earn it over Hinchliffe. Are you looking for a number 1? That and closer location should see you blow us out of the water for him.

Sam Byrne mentioned him in a tweet again last week so I reckon he’s heading our way.

And Salford, who werent likely getting out bid if they wanted him, so I'd maybe keep the rumours with a pinch of salt. Perhaps trying to drum up interest
possibly yes. The other 2 NL central defenders mentioned a lot have been Niall Maher and Tom Bradbury both ex-Halifax. Tranmere fans think Bradbury is signing for them, whilst Chesterfield fans think Maher is joining Oldham - but Oldham fans think the deal fell through on Friday and he'll probably be joining us.
But as it's silly season either, neither or both of the rumours could end up being true.

Yes. Veteran Joe Murphy who played about half our games last season and was very good has now taken on the goalkeeper coach role. While he’s still registered as a player not expecting to play as much. Whoever comes in will be the no 1. John Achterberg Red Scouse keeper coach is an ex Rover and may be a factor in pointing players our way.
