possibly yes. The other 2 NL central defenders mentioned a lot have been Niall Maher and Tom Bradbury both ex-Halifax. Tranmere fans think Bradbury is signing for them, whilst Chesterfield fans think Maher is joining Oldham - but Oldham fans think the deal fell through on Friday and he'll probably be joining us.
But as it's silly season either, neither or both of the rumours could end up being true.
The Maher to Oldham rumour started because some joke account said they'd seen a car with the number plate NM4H3R outside Boundary Park twice. Ignoring the fact that's not even a UK number plate (obviously), why would he choose to stay in non-league? He's hinted himself that he wants to step up a level.

I think people are making the Wild connection, but he'll have a lot better options than us.

Stockport County.
Sam Byrne mentioned him in a tweet again last week so I reckon he’s heading our way.
I think if Tranmere are offering him the number one spot, he'll go there definitley. Hinchliffe has got the shirt and I think Ross will stay on until another young-ish goalkeeper comes available possibly later in the window (big clubs may want a look in pre-season etc). Luca-Ashby Hammond possibly, depsite him barely playing for us, he was highly rated by all accounts. The problem is whether or not these clubs will think they'll get the minutes.

Hoping we might be in for Whalley. Strong Hurst connection as he was a regular for most of his time there, I believe?
Whalley had his best season with us under Hurst. His goals helped massively in us pushing Blackburn & Wigan all the way but ultimately finished 3rd and losing at Wembley (shock).

I am pretty certain Hurst would definitely have spoken and offered Whalley something for next season. However, I think Shaun wants to stay in the North West so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him rock up somewhere like Tranmere, Wrexham, Crewe, Stockport, Salford, Rochdale, etc.

Wherever he goes, he’ll create ahd score numerous goals. Can definitely still do a job in League 1 and was disappointed when we released him.

Dale have signed Ethan Ebanks-Landell on a 2 year deal.

Been on loan with us before and did pretty well.

Should be a good signing.. :)
Really happy with that. He was solid for us when on loan in league one and has stayed at that level since then. It'll be interesting to see whether O'Connell will stay or EEL is a replacement for him. If he stays, that's a fairly strong-looking defence taking shape.

We have signed Joe Riley from Carlisle. RB/CM.

Our defence is looking alright, much better than it was at the start of last season.

Riley-Daniels-Clarke-Monthe-Gordon

I should warn you that one of the main reasons he turned down a contract offer from us was that previous managers kept using him at RB and he doesn't want to play there (not his best position, though he's not a bad RB by any means)

I actually think he’s overrated by a lot of our fans, and definitely suspect at shot stopping, he’s more than capable of a worldie save too typical L2 keeper I suppose. Bonus is young and improving, definitely finished the season a better player.

I don’t think it’s a bad signing for you guys if he does but I’m not arsed about him not being here next season either.

What do you mean by suspect at shot stopping? In what area? Curious as I thought he was a good shot stopper.

CDM? Joss Labadie is out until at least Christmas with an ACL injury could be his replacement if so.

We’ve signed Ethan Bristow a left back released from Reading on a two year deal. Looks a promising youngster having started 7 times for Reading in the Championship last season.

Is delighted the most overused word in football at this time of year.

Every club is “delighted to announce the signing of…” or “delighted to announce the appointment of… as manager” and every player is “delighted to have signed for… and can’t wait to get started.”

There’s just a bit too much delight going round for my liking.

Nope, not that type of player at all. He’s a midfielder that drives forward. Don’t get me wrong, he can put in a tackle, but his good ability outweighs that. He’s a typical number 8 really.

“Fuck sake… We’ve signed ….. on a 1 year deal. Which is 1 year more than the club would ideally like” hasn’t got the same ring to it…

Did you rate him then good signing for us?

Does this mean Macdonald moving on? Would be a little sad if so. Bristow sounds like a player with potential and apparently other clubs after his signature so encouraging signing, though until today I’d not heard of him. In some ways that’s a positive as used to get a lot of leaks about Rovers signings.

Calum MacDonald - if so he was a decent player when we had him on loan from Derby back in 2017/18

Just a simple Real Madrid style Comunicado Oficial statement would make a change.

“[Club] have agreed a deal to sign [player] on a 2 year contract.”

Then maybe a bit of info on the player and a few words from the manager about him.

No need to go overboard with the delight.

He still is. Missed the first few months of last season due to a shin splints issue and served a 4 match suspension near the end, but has been offered a new deal. Get the impression he’s waiting for a better offer, but I don’t get the impression that the lad who’s signed from Reading is going to be just a squad player and his usual position, like Calum, is left-back.

Been one of the best players in the NL for the last couple of years tbf so don't doubt he can step up but I don't see where actually starts in our team positionally. Good players are welcome though and I'm sure DC has got a plan.

He's probably answered my own question in his interview. Reckons he's best as a 8 and a half/10, so he'll compete in the midifeld three particularly with Collar and Sarcevic.

Do we have a genuine #highlyrated claim here?

Midfielder Stephen Dooley has turned down Dale's offer of another year in favour of a two year deal at Harrogate. Don't blame him. Works hard but probably not in most Dale fans' potential first xi for next season.

Not sure because I don't know this level but he always looked quality for Torquay tbh. I always thought he was a winger type tbh.

Mark Shelton signs a new deal, was good in the NL, not as effective here. Lots of enthusiasm but not enough guile for me. Hopefully just a squad player.

Odusina rumours gathering a bit of pace at our end today. Journalist from our local rag seems to think he is our number 1 target to replace the departed Paudie O"Connor.

Any further news up there mate?
