Walsall Football Club can confirm that striker Devante Rodney has joined Sky Bet League Two side Rochdale after the two clubs concluded a transfer agreement.

I know fook all about him. Don't remember ever seeing him play.
So I'll wish him luck and pass judgement after a few games. But the journeyman career to date is a bit off-putting. Still, we've had plenty of players in over the years that fans of other clubs have said were crap and they've ended up doing well. Opposite also true for supposedly 'highly rated' players actually turning out to be crap. Jordan Williams springs to mind.

the Jordan Williams you bought from us was a very good player at NL level - sometimes players make the step up easily some don't - I was surprised when he didn't do so well.

We've had players like Sodje and even Garrity this season that other clubs have said were terrible but actually turned out to be mint. But with Dave I think Rochdale fans should pay heed to the numerous clubs he has been with, who have all said the same thing.

I Remember the 2 goals he scored v Donny (last game of the season)that almost kept us in the league

I think he's a good National League forward as already proven, his raw physical attributes are enough in that league to score goals but he's nothing more.

Of course it's only fair for Rochdale to give him a fair crack of the whip before judgement, but that's three clubs fans now who've said how hopeless he was, red flags shooting up all over.

He was good for Fylde in NL tbf. He and Croasdale were two of their best players so we signed them summer 2020 after they were relegated. Croasdale's been mint, Williams looked awful but he never got a run of games. I think he's gone off and done alright for TNS. Probably a confidence player by the sounds of things.

Maybe too big a leap. It was NL to League One. But even when he was on loan at Lincoln in the league below he didn't seem to get rave reviews. Same when he dropped down again, back to NL, at Stockport. Some players just work well at some clubs and with certain managers I guess. Just a very disappointing signing that sticks in the memory as one where fans of the player's older club were heaping praise and never really worked out.

Young midfielder Dom Jefferies joins us from Brentford. Haven't seen him play, but is another body in midfield to compliment Williams, O'Keefe and Ben Reeves.

Also looks like we'll be keeping eyes on Alex MacDonald over pre-season as he's nearing the end of his recovery time after several months out. If we can get him fit he'll be a cracking addition to the squad, he was one of our best players in 20/21 on the left hand side.

Next targets have got to be attacking players.

Dom came through our academy but flynn decided he was'nt going to make it so he slung him out where he was picked up by brentford straight away, good player is dom i wish him all the best with you,
