What I like about the deals we're doing is that we're not handing contracts out, we're handing out dreams aswell.
Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for Stocky, the CEO of the Make a Wish Foundation.
We've seen certain clubs who I'm not going to name going all guns blazing handing out daft contracts on big money to FL players. Certainly not our style.
Would be a fair point if it wasn't absolute bollocks.

Lee's brother again on Twitter reckoned it was a 'done deal' before Lee got the chop, Lee had tapped up half the players on the EFL database for next season!

That Geordie winger rocked up at Gateshead as well this week.
Surprised anyone can understand what he posts, got the writing skills of an ostrich that fella.

The four lads we've signed will hopefully improve under Challinor. Challinor definitley sounds like he pushed for Akil Wright.

Sorry what?

Who’s taking Danny Johnson off Mansfield anyway, surprised not to see more L2 clubs linked.

I actually initially said we'd be looking at 350-500k in the National League and then that we could probably add another 200k on because of promotion so 700k is right at the top end of that. There's no reason for us to sell him, hence a rather inflated price tag. As Lew said we sold Bogle for close to a million after half a season here when we had a chairman who was desperate to sell players so considering everything I don't think we're being unrealistic. McAtee is probably the best attacking player we've had in the last decade.

Also not really fair to judge him on goals, he's more of a #10 than a goalscorer.

Doyle was also in his 30s when you signed him, whereas McAtee is 22.
You don’t get those figures in League 1 never mind League 2 unless it’s a striker.

We appear to have a striker incoming and in talks with another. Absolutely no idea who, it’s all very secret squirrel, bound to be shite though

Seeing as you're paying him a Mansfield Kings Ransom special, you'll probably need to pay a % of his wages to the club you're likely to loan him out too ;)

Joking aside, as you say I too am suprised not to see his name linked anywhere. If used right he has his uses, scored 22 goals I think it was for us 2 seasons back. Won't be coming back here though as he pissed our heirachy off with something he said/did - Which I'm still trying to find out what it was he actually did.

Did you ever sign Dayle Southwell? He's done Lincoln, Grimsby, Boston.

Jonny Margetts must have been close to completing the set? I don't think Nathan Arnold will have played for you but did us and Grimsby.
Don't bring up Jonny Margetts, his signing has got to be the stupidest of all time.

We had him on trial at the start of the season, rejected him because we didn't think he was good enough. Signs for you lot, has a random hot streak and we buy him. We paid for a player we rejected two months prior.

Still time for Southwell to sign, VNN players are who we will be looking at for the foreseeable

When we got promoted 4 seasons back, we sold Josh Koroma to Huddersfield for around £450k (plus add ons etc) after he scored 13 goals in the National League and he could play anywhere across the front line, so I'd say £500k is probably the right valuation for McAtee imo. Koroma was the same age as McAtee as well.

Obviously if he has another good season, the price goes up.

Times have changed, not many teams at L1 & 2 level spend on transfer Fees given the number of free agents available and they certainly wouldn’t spend that amount on a player who has had one good season in non league

We’ve probably got enough money to spend on fees that size

We’ve signed Sonny Hilton on loan from Fulham.

No idea if he’s any good but Simpson has worked with him at England U20s, so he should know enough about him.

Please elaborate as I’ve no idea which club you could be talking about.

For me McAtee is worth about 500k atm, if he has another similar season then probably pushing a million but he’s only got a year left on his contract. I don’t think 700k should be seen as a daft valuation, I remember Fleetwood signing Jamille Matt for 300k! Also 700k isn’t meant to show his value to other L2 clubs, that’s more for the big guns of L1 and lower championship.

In regards to Fox, I reckon he was on £1500 a week last season. I imagine we offered him £2000, maxed out at £2500 and he’s signed for Northampton on £3000 a week. All seems quite believable.

Fox was our highest earner on £2300 pw last season I was told by a guy who seems very in the know and who’s been correct on most things GTFC related that he’s told me. McKeown second highest on £2100.

Stockport County.
McAtee is a good player, Grimbsy fans were right about him.

People scoffing at what he's worth, it's completely subjective to Grimsby and to a potential buyer. Him only having a year on his contract is relevant, Grimsby would do well to tie him down tbh.

If I was a betting man, I'd say if he personally does well for Grimsby next season, there will be interest and Grimsby may sell in the winter window depending where they are in the league etc if he hasn't signed a new deal. If they're mid table, they may think taking some money is a good idea, if they're in the hunt for promotion or in a relegation battle, his worth may be more to keep him. As I say, it's purely subjective. 1 year left would worry me if I was Grimsby though, I'd stop bigging him up as much as they do if I was them.

Two of our youngsters central midfielder Matt Young and keeper Rhys Byrne have signed one year extension contracts.

Both are likely to be loaned out for 6 months to clubs in the National League. Young has potential but lost his way when thrown in at the deep end in our 15 game winless streak.

Byrne looked promising in the 4 games he played in the Papa Johns trophy last season, but he won't displace Vigouroux in goal so we need to get him some games under his belt.

Also Farrend Rawson has left Mansfield for Morecambe.

Dan Sweeney leaves FGR and joins Stevenage - move back to North London for him.

Stevenage signing some steady players IMO after basically being really poor for 2 and half of the last 3 seasons.

We could easily pay £700k for Mcatee and most likely will
Was this money there last season ? I'd doubt you would pay 700K, with the player only having 1 more year on his contract .

Seen a report that ex Red Jordan Roberts has joined Stevenage.

I like Roberts. Attacking left side forward, pace and a decent leap. Trouble is, at the end of the season his stats don't look as good as they should. I'm not sure if it's me that's wrong about him or he is doing stuff that is not showing up on the stats we see.

Sweeney is indeed a good signing for Stevenage. I'm sad to see him go, but apparently he wants more playing time.

And I'm surprised Rawson didn't get more game time at Mansfield rather than that converted centre forward who looked a liability whenever I saw him.

We released Rawson, a tad surprised he got L1. He’s either very good or a complete liability.
