I'd be pretty amazed if that had any legs, even if Cambridge had the money left in the budget for him geography has always played very heavily in Tubbs's career path and he is loathe to go north of the Thames.

Also extremely skeptical of the Reid to Pompey rumour. It first cropped up a few days ago with reports that he had been sighted in Portsmouth... literally two hours later he was starting a pre-season friendly for Plymouth. I haven't seen anywhere remotely credible suggest it is a goer yet.

Michael Nelson signed up.

Won't be playing more than a game a week and probably won't occupy a starting berth for the time being.

He can't be as bad as some Cambridge fans have said!
rather you than us.

Probably just rumours but I'm happy we're being linked with him. For me he will finish top scorer again this season if he is at a club that plays to his strengths. I'm not sure the way Cook likes to play will suit him though.

Looks like we will be offering a contract to Paul Corry after he was released from Sheffield Wednesday. Played a few games for Carlisle last season according to wiki. Hes been solid enough in pre season when called upon, will be back up to Byrom.
Corry didn't look too special during his loan spell, though he'd be a decent enough signing in my opinion.

I don't expect him to be a starter either.

As usual, I'll wait and see how he fares in our colours. Quite often players go to a new club and benefit from a different style, and the shortcomings they had, might not be quite so exposed as they are playing in a different way.

Seen milk turn quicker than Michael Nelson. Good guy though and wish him well.

He's been shown up for pace preseason and been caught out of position countless times. Truly woeful signing, I'd rather have kept Jack Saville.

Reece Thompson of Frickley Athletic signs for us. Could be just what we need.

I'm seeing that you are looking for an experienced CB according to PC. Why did you let Robinson go then?

Doesn't make alot of sense to me either, most people think Cook couldn't promise Robinson starting XI and fans at the Woking game said Robinson had a face like thunder when he wasn't picked, but he was going to be our captain for the season. I have no idea :/.

Morecambe are supposedly taking Jack Ryan from us on loan.

19yr old striker, was on loan at Stockport last season.

Confirmed, youth loan until 31st October.

Plymouth fans. I think you have taken Tanner on loan. Im one of the few wimbledon fans who actually thought he was a decent player. Sadly he did not score us any goals and as he was signed as a striker he was disappionting. Use him as a winger and he is decent enough. Most wimbledon fans think he is a pile of shit.

We signed Elliott Hewitt on a two-year deal during the 1FF hiatus, potentially one of the signings of the summer for me.

We're apparently negotiating a deal for Maidstone utility man Jack Parkinson. Played in 2 friendlies and did ok in them.

We're also STILL negotiating with Peterborough for Jack Payne.

Nelson was doing a job before the Man U cup-tie but something went wrong shortly afterwards , and he put in some awful performances. Could be the bonus thing, which some fans reckon the players were promised but never got. Who knows?

In a way, as much as I would love to see him join us, I'd really start to worry about our budget and the 'no dipping in the Man U money' claim. I'll always be wary of such things, especially when a club spends thousands on new players and still fail to go up. What happens then?

Nelson improved our defence when he first arrived but as said above something went wrong soon after the Man Utd games. His attitude, application and any quality he had left dropped off the face of the earth. Nice guy? Maybe, but I have no time for a footballer who couldn't give two sh*ts.

He also likes to have a little whine on Twitter which is always entertaining.

Nothing like getting your squad sorted early in the transfer window...

We've got what I'd call 16 senior players, everyone else is either in the youth team or just out of the youth team. We're going to struggle unless we add to the squad, by the sound of things there's not too much left in the budget and we probably need another 4/5 players.

Our summer activity has been poor, can't say I'm too confident about our prospects this year.

Ardley says he tried hard to sign Robinson in January before you got him, and over the summer repeatedly implied he was close to getting an experienced centre half who would go straight into the squad. That would mean it may have been in the making ever since Cook took over. Most of us thought the new old bloke might be someone like Danny Shittu because it's in the constitution that we have to have at least 6 ex-Millwall at the club at any one time but in retrospect he was probably always referring to Robinson (and of course Robinson qualifies under the Millwall rule too). So I wouldn't assume just that Cook wanted him out - it could be mutual or even that Robinson just didn't want to play under Cook. Why, we may never find out.

Got no problem with Michael Nelson. Brought some crucial experience to us in a season when we needed it most and helped get us the plum tie at Old Trafford. His performances dropped after Man U but we stayed up so no harm done. Full respect to the man.

P.S. I don't like Twitter rants but I get the impression his may have been justified.

Theo Robinsons third club this pre season, he must be starting to worry.

Not to mention the clubs are gradually getting worse. Mansfield could be right around the corner if he's not careful.

Shaun Miller signs on a 1 year deal and also Jack Ryan on a 3 month loan deal. Hopefully we can get Miller somewhat close to his Crewe days and he'll be alright. No idea on Jack Ryan though, scored a couple at Stockport last season and also bagged against AFC Liverpool for our ressies yesterday.

Only way you'll get Miller to score is if you play a big lad up top with him. The extra space brings out the best in him and he can't play the lone striker role to save his life.

Will be following Morecambe's results this season, hope Duggy and Miller do very well for you lot! Two good lads to have in your side and in Duggy you have a very good leader for this level!

Made our 18th signing of the season in ex-Feyenoord and Vitesse CB Civard Sprockel.

No idea what the fuck we're doing anymore. I guess we're working off the law of averages that if you sign enough players, the chances are there will be 11 decent ones among them
