It's interesting reading other people's opinions on players and how different they can be.

Joe Lewis on the whole is a pretty solid League 2 CB. He's an absolute unit with his strongest position being the centre of a back 3. Isn't amazing on the ball, but is good enough. Had a couple of MOTM performances last season (thinking Orient away in particular).

Hussey was easily one of our best signings last season. I don't get the comment that he didn't have legs to get forward. He spent most of his time getting forward and crossing the ball into the box (he managed 6 assists from LCB). When he played against us for Port Vale in the cup, MSH went at him over and over again and Hussey came out on top every time. A proper solid defender who's great on the ball. He'll need replacing for sure.
I’ve had my say on Lewis above as Stocky points out when Horsfall went down injured we saw him start two games before Byrne (Tranmere’s fourth choice CB) was brought in and immediately replaced him in the team.

At the weekend when push came to shove Lewis was dropped and when we brought a CB on to go back to three at the back after Wright’s injury and the original reshuffle it was Byrne who he trusted to bring on in our most important game of the season.

Hussey was at fault for five Salford chances in the second leg alone. He took 90 per cent of our set pieces so I’d hope he had some assists. He did get forward at times of course but then he struggled to get back. It’s not his fault his legs have started to go but you could see that was happening because when he was asked to play LWB we got nothing from him.

Obviously, I’d love him here.

Blackpool and Derby interested.

County fans on Twitter fuming that our name is even being mentioned. We’re a sideward move, init.

Hearing Portsmouth and Bradford are the most likely destinations for Dan Agyei this summer. Bell has said what most Crewe fans were already thinking that it's unrealistic that he will sign a new contract with us.

Looks like Bailey Cargill is about to sign from FGR.

Surely he'll be heading to Pompy if that's the case? Unless we guarantee him that he'd be a starter for us. Be happy if he does choose us though. Exactly what we need.

I remember him on-loan at Coventry moons ago. What is he these days, a winger or forrad?

Appeared to be on the wing when I was at your gaff a few weeks ago.

Another player that can play LB, very important after spending a season with Macca out and relying on Jordan Bowery. Like how we are getting business done early, maybe a sign we are getting our first choices more than previous windows.

Need another defender and a goalkeeper then anything else is a bonus.

Don't think Notts fans need worry about Rodrigues coming to us. As much as I'd like it to happen, there's nothing we can offer to him that they can't aside from a few extra thousand fans through the turnstiles.

Yeah I can’t really see that one. I don’t expect him to stay here but if he goes it’ll be to go up at least one league or back to Holland.

McGoldrick deciding between staying at Derby for another year or coming to Notts when he gets back from his holiday. Still too early to get excited, but…

Good signing on paper, if he can stay injury free!

I’m 99% sure we’re about to announce the return of Alex Gilbey. Delighted with that, 2 x POTS for us before we got a lot of money from Charlton for him, and he seems to have done well last season in this league.

Edit: confirmed. Brilliant news

McGoldrick would be a fantastic signing for league 2, would challenge our Cookiemonster for golden boot next season!

If McGoldrick signs you can dust off the going for it klaxon

Can't see Rodrigues to Bradford. League one or Championship level player. He's well settled in Notts so can see the Derby transfer

I still can’t see it, he was a contender for the League One player of the year last season and Derby can obviously offer multitudes more money than we can. He’s a lifelong Notts fan who has said a few times that he wants to finish his career back here, though, so maybe he really means it!

The pull of playing for your club, especially at the end of one's career, could certainly trump a little extra money. Might be a case of Derby only offering a year too, whereas you could offer two with potentially a move into coaching at the club. Never say never. I can see it happening, as an outsider.

I'd be surprised if he goes to you, think he's Derby bound.

He was apprenticed to us , then came back on loan and was frankly terrible for a month at 18, just too young and looked lost up front.

It’s typical how often does our club get thrown in with agent speak? We’ve probably not even looked at him. I remember last year about 4 left backs got linked with us despite us already having two contracted for the upcoming season like two weeks earlier

Gutted by this. I knew Gilbey was considering multiple offers so not totally surprised to see someone else get him but disappointed nonetheless. Was great for us, played an integral role in our promotion and will be difficult for us to replace. Will miss his presence in midfield next season, our loss is most definitely MK's gain. Top signing for you guys.

We are signing josh neufville off luton who spent some time at sutton on loan last season
Had him on season long loan. Some talent but raw and again not really enough end product. He wasn’t in our strongest side once we got Ajiboye back on loan. Would have probably taken him on to develop though but depends what else we can attract.

He will be our third or fourth choice if everyone fit.

We’ve given Slocombe a two-year deal as well, which will take him to nearly 37. Just how we seem to operate, but we’ve explicitly said we want to sign another senior goalkeeper who I imagine is going to end up as first choice.

I’m sure we’ve only offered contracts to Slocombe, Rawlinson and possibly JOB because the owners and Williams were too polite not to. They probably had their fingers crossed behind their backs hoping they wouldn’t accept. (Danish accent) ‘Fuckin ell Luke, you said Rawlo would go and sign for Alfreton’.

Ruben to Bradford lol. More Leigh Curtis bollocks.

Sounds like we're going to announce our first summer signing today. Few people think it'll be Patrick Brough.

He can do both either through the middle or as a wide forward, even played as a more traditional winger. Infact I think he's played wing back a couple of times.

Did any of the Notts/Wrexham fans see Shaq Forde last season? 9 goals in 20 for York on loan from Watford, being linked with us. Presumably we're looking at a loan there.

Halifax's Jesse Debrah also linked, didn't play either game against us in 21/22 but Maher and Green have turned out to be decent pickups from them so hopefully he'll follow that trend if it comes off.
