Great to see young players being given a chance. Not much financial cost either.

24 players on the books, I imagine Crankshaw, Evans and Chadwick will depart either on loan or permanantly.

I still hope we get a "few more bodies in". Lets hope we can get "a couple more over the line"

Usually highly rated stuff but you never know until they’ve played some senior football. More cover in the areas we obviously needed it anyway.

Another decent signing for the Stockport had them down as title winners, strengthens that for me

It seems about a year ago since any of us signed someone highly rated. What say you s.o.c?

We’ve no idea what formation we’re going to play and how we’re fitting everybody in natural positions and missing Wootton and Collar to start the season so I’m expecting another slow start. Especially with our tough fixtures.

After your first season back in the league, and having 12 month headstart vs us, who do you have that you would consider as a tough start?

I don't have a clue on how we would end up, but would love to be in and around the play offs, or even more would be a dream. Be interesting if we keep our home form up, and somehow improve on away games compared to last season.

Crawley have paid cash money for Ronan Darcy. He's got lovely hair and can run about a bit but didn't do a great deal. Crawley are determined to give us money for old rope, long may it continue!

We've finally made a permanent signing. Liam Kinsella on a free. Walsall fans? Neat and tidy defensive midfielder I guess?

Tbf, Kemp and Kinsella are 2 good signings. Obviously more to come in the next week now we’ve shifted the deadwood from last seasons scattergun approach.

Its almost as if Flynn/Hatswell know what they’re doing!

Probably the dust from the pocket we got for Nadersan.

I'm quite hopeful about this signing. It's the line '...run around a bit...' that does it.

Every time I see us I just think we are desperate for a midfielder who will run about a bit.

Gillingham, Bradford and Mansfield in August are all teams I’d expect to be in the top 7.

Kinsella is an astute signing for Swindon! Forgetting the obvious links, of course.

Unsurprising move for Kinsella, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for it to happen!

He’s a solid enough league 2 player, he won’t pull up any trees, he won’t split a defence open with a ball, nor will he contribute much going forward but he’ll leave everything on the pitch. He’s also a top lad off the field, he’s done a fair bit around the community, especially with the older generation.

He’s bound to get a great reception from us Walsall fans, through the last few rubbish years he has been the only lad who can hold his head high.

All the best, Kins!

Tbh, that’s music to my ears. We’re crying out for someone who isn’t going to get sucked upfield and at least offer some semblance of cover for the defence. Win the ball, give it to Kemp. That’s it.

We've got 6 of the top 8 (going off title odds) in our opening 8 matches.
Yikes.

We’ve got Wrexham and MK Dons in mid September as well so 5 of the top 8 in opening 9 matches and I thought that was bad.

I hope Flynn has learnt from his previous time with Kinsella. He would keep trying to play him further up the field and it never worked. Play him deep, let him dart about and act on instinct, he’ll do a great job.

Try to manage him and over complicate his game, like he did at Walsall, you won’t see the best side of Kinsella’s game.

Cheers for the feedback BCS.

First five.

Bradford h , Salford a , MKDons h, Gillingham h and Swindon a

We could play well and lose the lot!

I'm being honest here. I EXPECT those five to be challenging for promotion. I think we will struggle against relegation. I won't be happy but six points from that would be very helpful.

Refreshing to read almost total positivity from the Walsall fans on here, only 2 mind, but hey ho. Twitter is a bit more mixed, but that's where life's lunatics live, so I generally take most of what's said there with a huge dose of salt.

We've now got Kinsella, Mceachran and Kemp who are pretty small in stature. I'm pretty happy with our midfield, our defence does require some serious work still. I suspect we'll be very busy this coming week.
