So Kemp gets recalled to be replaced by another MK cast off - Dawson Devoy. Never heard of him. 43 games for MK with 0 goals. Sounds a like for like to me!

Jesus!
They’re different types of midfielder. DD has mainly played as a standard central midfielder whereas Kemp is more a 10.

I really like DD but he hasn’t had a run of games and just can’t cement himself in the team. I expected a LOI or national league loan, not league 2, but it sounds like Swindon can’t really pick a full 18 at the moment so he probably will get the time he needs.

Personally I think clubs would be far better off not using the loan system. At Wimbledon and probably at other clubs come every January it's a rebuilding process. It's like playing two seasons in one. I'd rather we just used our own player's. At least you know you aren't going to get shafted in January. It's so predictable every season. Loans in essence are not really season long unless the player you have on loan is shite and the parent club don't want them back. Really can't be arsed with the rest of the season.

Aaron Henry recalled by Charlton and immediately loaned out to Wealdstone.

There's a player there and he needs some games so agood move for him.

Rumours here that Macauley Bonne spotted at your place. Anything your end?

Heard nothing here, we need to ship out before we can ship anyone in tbh. Any business we do IMO will be late on in the window.

Rumour is plausible though as Bonne would fit Wellens style.

Might see a few of our fringe players end up back playing in this league.

Langstaff to Coventry very much picking up pace. Not sure I buy it yet, but at the figures being mentioned we’d be mad not to. With Williams leaving as well and the compensation from that it’d clearly set us back massively in the immediate term, but you’re talking transformative medium term.

Problem with modern football. Too many teams max out their budget bringing in permanent signings but then can't afford to fill their squads, so have to go for cheap loans to pad out.

Personally, I would argue that season long loans should never include recall clauses. Why they've become a common thing I don't know, never remember this being such a big issue 5-10 years ago.

It’s probably to do with contract lengths. Take Kemp, for example, joined us with a year left on his contract. If he couldn’t have been recalled now and sold he’d go for nothing in the summer. But your point is valid. It does safeguard both clubs, though. If your loan turns out to be a dud you can terminate in January.

I don't want him to leave because he's been simply sensational for Notts and the now much younger fanbase (& teammates) rightly adore him. He's clearly a lovely young gentleman, when he slows down and you can understand him.

But I must be admit even though it would completely derail this season I am becoming increasingly excited about Notts selling a player they bought so cheaply for Megabucks and making a club transforming profit. I feel slight guilt in saying this but if he went then it's tangible / financial conformation that our fantastic owners approach since arriving has worked, and big time. Then hopefully repeat process.

This is obviously his peak during his career to date and Coventry City is as high as he could/should go so if the offer huge and snap their hands off.

Naturally if it happens and the league's best goalscorer leaves part of the fanbase who are shortsighted would go into meltdown and wrongly claim no ambition. Backwards step etc and miss the point.

We haven't sold home grown or cheaply purchased players for huge amounts for 30 years. Would be a welcome return.

If he doesn't then we keep the League's best goalscorer and exciting prospect a little longer. Before the inevitable

Oil money Mansfield?

It’ll be on the back of higher than executed ticket sales/more hospitality sales and sponsorship, the town hasn’t got behind the club like this in my time.

The plan as far as i’m aware is that the deadweight of boateng is off on loan which will free up £3.5k a week i believe also.

We need someone like that as the options upfront aren’t what we need and the conversion rate to chances created is shocking.

Mansfield's transformation as a club in recent years has been nothing short of sensational when you think what they were not long ago. Just look at the season ticket sales and crowds last few seasons and all the benefits that bring.

It's taken a while, and that's fully understandable when you think the low point the club was at, but after large financial backing from John Radford for over a decade. Safe to say he needed this payback from the locals.

Tbh I can't think of any fanbase at this level that deserves some success and promotion than Mansfield.

They were always going to build up slowly to success, it's what Nigel Clough does.

Remember kicking his arse in the POs when we beat Sheffield United. Miserable little toe rag.

Few years on and we’re facing Colchester in a relegation 6-pointer. Listen, lads, it doesnt take much or very long to plummet!

Fans at most clubs at this level, and definitely Notts :err:, don't need that reminder.

We sure know how to plummet. I just feel sorry for the fans of clubs who have never got high enough to plummet. You know who you are

Comeback to me if you ever reach Non League.

Joe Lewis not playing today. I guess that's him back to Stockport. L-Evans is playing.

Not sure if that's our doing; we're just as desperate for a centre-mid as well

We're being linked with Oxford midfielder Alex Gorrin. Out of contract this month, hasn't played a lot since coming back from an ACL last year. Could add some experience which we badly need.

They're signing League Two standard players to stay in League One. Baffling stuff. They'll be down by Easter.

Why is it baffling?

We have signed GOOD players from L2 who are good enough for L1. Peterborough are 3rd in L1 and many of their players were signed from below L1.

Going by your logic, you will have to get rid of all your players in the summer because they are L2 players and won't be able to keep you in L1 if you go up??

You're the baffling one.

Jake Young not in the squad today. Official line is he's injured and it's the same injury that he's managed to play through at Swindon for the last month.

Expect him to be sold for 50p and a bag of quavers before the month is out.

I reckon he's a flash in the pan anyway mate Cooky is a much better bet than him even though he's older.
