Good to see Ches bringing that average age down. :hypo:

Could be inspired, could be completely past it, impossible to tell. We signed Dan Gosling on a similar deal last season and he was totally shot to bits, but McGoldrick and Sharp are still banging in the goals and Fleck’s got a few years on them yet.

We could sign Haaland and you'd be like 'oof, I'm not sure about Norwegians'

Fleck will be too good for this level. Chesterfield have no excuse for not getting top 3 with that side

Fleck was class and still might be but the track record of classy midfielders who can’t run anymore dropping down to League 2 and thriving is basically non-existent

Do we know he can't run anymore? Is that a given? He's been training here for a couple weeks I believe so I doubt we'd have signed him if he was shot. I suspect it's just a location thing, we're handy for him as we're only 20 mins away, a bitt like the Naylor signing and he's been ludicrous good. Here's to hoping it's more of the same.

I’m just scarred from having rattled through David Vaughan, Harry Arter and Gosling in the last few years. Bostock was class, though.

Jack Lester disagrees with this.

Our official Twitter account have just randomly tweeted a compilation of Nahki Wells goals for us during his time here between 2011-2014.

Doesn’t make any sense.

He’s on a fair wedge at Bristol City.

It's a trend of highlight videos of mid 2000 PL players alongside mid 2000 indie music

They've not done great with the trend as Nakhi Wells never played in the PL and the song is from 2015

Trained with Blades through the summer too, so probably not a million miles off being “ready”

I know you love this shout, but Cook knows how to build a team and for me it looks like it’s got the perfect blend of youth & experience in all the right places. Younger, energetic and pacy players (e.g. Tanton, Gordon, Araujo, Daley-Campbell, Dobra, Berry, Metcalfe, Markanday etc) and then our spine is ridiculously experienced full of seasoned pro’s that have a number of promotions on their CV’s (e.g. Dunkley, Naylor, Grigg, Jacobs, Madden, Fleck etc)

We tied Alex Gilbey and Joe Tomlinson down to “new and improved” contracts yesterday which is good news.

I mean look, there's every chance it doesn't work like most transfers. But it's a low risk deal, we've seen Naylor same age very dominant, I think the chances it works out are higher than not. Going 'lulz too old 33 geriatric c*** not gonna work that at all' is a bit soon to say

With the talented and proven old dog Cook at the helm, experienced talented players signed down the spine of the team and the very good wages being spent then the pre season favourites tag looks a solid shout from the bookmakers.

Resale potential may be nonexistent for a lot of the squad and a short term approach clearly taken but Mr Cook won't mind one bit if it results in another promotion of his CV. Nor will the Spireite faithful.

He wasn't. But I'm certain Forest had him playing there for a time.

We've got a few resaleable assets. Dobra, Berry, Gordon off the top of my head could sell for a few quid one day. Not loads and loads, but I'm not sure if fancy the prospect of half our player pool disappearing through outgoing transfers anyway

Who needs resaleable assets when you’ve got #oil

Was hoping we would get a teaser and then official announcement but was not confident. This is without doubt superb news. We either get one of the best players in the division for this season and another two. Or a club in a higher division decides to pay the man and meets our player valuation/release clause. It's a win win.

Plus us lower league football fans get to see his magic, moans and above all assists for potentially years to come.

Wow, amazing news. Assumed we’d decided to cling on for one more year and he’d be off to the Championship on a free.

It is undoubtedly great news for County, the two seem a great match, but I do think the fact Jones is still at County backs my opinion up regarding work rate and attitude, because talent wise he is above and beyond the club he is at.

Did any respectful bids come in for him in the summer?

I think you're probably overestimating those factors and underestimating his lengthy injury history, at least when it comes to someone paying a fee that Notts would entertain. We did reject some bids towards the end of the window but I don't know who for, you'd have thought it was only Crowley and Jones who would be massively in demand though.

I thought he'd definitely be off in the summer if he had a good season, so absolutely buzzing.
