Quite a few League Two players have been sold for over a million over the years. Not seen much of Dobra so I can't comment on whether he'd be worth it, but it's not that outlandish.

Cliche, but what players are worth is what someone will pay for them. We've got around a million each of the last 3 seasons - Assal to some Kuwait team, Rudoni to Huddersfield and Al Hamadi to Ipswich. The Assal fee was truly insane but Rudoni has since gone for over 4 million (20% sell-on kerching, making him worth 2 million to us in total) so actually a bargain for Huddersfield to spend that amount on a division 4 player.

We got about £400k for an out of contract player in the summer and we sold Nick Powell for about £4m when he'd only played in League Two in 2012. It's not that unlikely that someone would spent 7 figures on a League Two player.

£1m lol.

He was garbage for Ipswich and did nothing at Colchester. Did well in the National League and has played half a season in the FL with Chesterfield.

What's he done to justify that ridiculous price?

If he's worth that, Jatta is worth double.

He is streets ahead of most players at this level, tears teams apart, including those we’ve played from League 1 and the Championship in the FA cup.

He may not have ‘justified that price’ as yet - but with 10 goals this season from CAM - there is no doubt in my mind he will go for £1M when we do sell.

As for Jatta - thought he was useless against us despite scoring a scrappy header. Not worth buttons.

Useless?

That scrappy header happened instantly after he stole Naylor's lunch money and stuffed him in a locker. Bullied him good and proper. I'm sure Dunkley would have stood up to him better.

Dobra's head getting turned is of course the other factor that hasn't been mentioned. Probably quite judgemental of me, but based off the way he carries himself on the pitch it wouldn't surprise me if he's a kick-his-toys-out-the-pram type if Chesterfield start knocking back 400k+ moves for him. McAtee is probably one of the closest comparisons in recent times. Similar age, standout NL season, under contract etc. We got less than 400k for him but it was beefed up with add ons and we got him back on loan for the whole season. I think we got some form of add on fee when he went to Bolton but it was fairly minimal. The add ons, in my opinion, need to be added with an air of caution as they can become massively devalued if they don't do as well as you'd hoped at their new club. Percentage of profit isn't a great add on for L2 clubs unless you're selling to someone like Peterborough who have a long history of developing players and who you know can rinse Championship clubs of fees. Selling them to basket case clubs like Wigan as we did with Omar Bogle was crap for us as they sold him a window or two later for pretty much what we sold him for.

Michael Reindorf joining on loan, Notts fans predictably furious that we’ve not dropped hundreds of thousands on a backup striker. You’d think they’d learn after the last ‘inexperienced 19 year old on loan’ we signed was George Abbott

Does sort of feel like we’ve rolled the dice on Jarvis, Whittaker and Reindorf and just need one of them to properly hit

Don’t be fooled by his on pitch persona. We’ve already gone through one contract renegotiation with Dobs and there was never any indication that he was being particularly awkward during that. There’s a lot of mutual respect between player and manager there and I’m pretty sure Cook wouldn’t stand for any nonsense anyway.

As far as I can tell, he does things the right way off the pitch. You don’t see him out and about. To me it’s clear he wants to be a winner and to have the best career he can have and that’s exactly what I’d want from any player on the team, no problem with that at all.

Crazy money being spoken about, maybe the market is crazy and January is a poor value window but £400-500k with a couple of decent add ons such as a sell on, maybe International bonus if he plays for Albania for instance and would be a decent deal, often in these like us with Dipepa the money is in the add on's further down the line.
We sold Berry for 400k with add ons last week. Dobra is a much better player

Always makes me giggle when fans talk like this - he’d slap Cook’s big bald head and wave tara at him if someone like Bolton offered to double his wages, no matter how much of a good little boy he is who doesn’t hit Chesterfield’s non existent nightlife

Wigan made a £250/300k profit in approx 6 months on Bogle! Less of course the additional £50k to GY as a sell on

Just what we need, an objective view from the Notts lot on Armando

Let’s say he has a release clause and it’s met. In reality it’ll be a handshake and a case of wishing each other good luck and that’ll be that.

Rory Feely has joined Crawley for an undisclosed fee. Baffled as to how we have got a fee for him, useful squad option for us but certainly not League One quality. I can't see Crawley surviving if that's the sort of signing they are making.

It’s a matter course now putting down “undisclosed fee” in nearly all transfer still under contract…..probably pays for tomorrow nights lights bill…as you said he is a useful squad member for league 2 and below, can’t see him appealing to any other league 1 squad.

Know nothing about him, but we could do with someone with a bit of mad x factor about them. Lightning pace or wild dribbling or something, one of those League Two players where they don’t know what they might do next so defenders can’t. Got more than enough neat and tidy footballers but need a chaos merchant to throw at these low blocks teams keep rolling out at ML.

Stockport County.
Looks like we dodged a bullet with Hutton. I remember when Gillingham were buzzing after nabbing him off us by offering more wages. He was in a hotel in Manchester waiting to sign the next day as the story goes.

We’ve loaned out Diamond Edwards to Weymouth. Barely played for us since joining from Southampton and to be honest the brief time have seen him not really done much. Hopefully he can get a bit of game time at that level as if not doesn’t really bode well for him.

Dobra has suitors including Stockport in League one and others in divisions above - club keen not to sell in this window.
