Our January signings have been sub-optimum so far.

Andre Wright on loan from Coventry. Cancelled after one day when the FA found he'd already been registered to two clubs this season.
Replaced by Jack Storer from Birmingham. Starts the first game, subbed off at half time without being injured. Doesn't play a single minute after that, cancelled by mutual consent today for 'personal reasons'. Now he can't play for anyone else this season.

I am sure this is not the only offer Exeter will get for him. They have a good shout for the players off, and he is one of the reasons why.

No way will they accept what you have offered. However, whether Exeter will get a million plus, I am not sure. I suspect part of the issue will be how much they need to sell to cover the other costs, such as Tisdale's salary etc. I would suspect more likely is a sub million, but with extras such as number of appearances, and maybe sell on.

I didn't know Ollie Watkins name but just knew him as their number 11 who looked good.

Trust me, there's no way we'd let him go for under £1M. He's by far and away superior to Matt Grimes who went for £1.75M two years ago. Plus being a forward he will generally demand a bigger fee.

Since he broke into the first team just under a year ago he's scored 18 goals and he doesn't play as an out and out striker either.

Controversial, you ignorant bastard

I do not follow L2 football that closely, nothing wrong with that, Last time I followed the league closely was the conference oddly enough. Old TFF Non-league section was superb.

I find it hard to believe he is that important to L2 football knowledge, not like he's been part of the furniture for years.

What did Exeter do with the Grimes money?

Ha, good question.

Some of it has gone towards our new pitch and drainage system plus we've just added a state of the art 3G pitch at our training ground.

Apperantly we had a £350,000 bid rejected for Ollie Watkins at Exeter according to local rag.

Never heard of him, and it seems unlikely considering Derby are interested and having a quick look at Exeter forum they seem to want 1m+ for him although that might be bias obviously.

Maybe we just putting bids in for a laugh, it's all a joke in my opinion.
Surely he is going to Rotherham?:ffs:

We've got to be aiming higher than scouting tinpot fourth division footballers. Perhaps need to scout the European leagues or that African Nations Vase thing?

Same here.

I reckon I'd struggle to name more than a couple of players for each side these days. When clubs are overhauling their entire team every other transfer window it becomes difficult to follow.

I don't even go to that many games. There are so many ex-Mansfield players that they now seem obscure to a Mansfield fan, never mind following another club's squad.

True enough, this league 2 forum is pretty poor for discussions, the individual match threads don't help, I and I imagine others don't even read them except for our own.

The argument that they attract new people to the forum doesn't stand up either especially when 90% of them have stupids names rather the actual teams involved.

Stephen McGinn has left Wycombe after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent, rarely even made the bench lately as we have plenty of midfielders who are playing well so no surprise to see him go to free up his wages.

We've had a second bid rejected by Macclesfield for their midfielder Danny Rowe, the first bid is believed to have been for 100k. Sounds as though we will go in again for a third

We've signed Kyle Wootton on loan from Scunthorpe.

Big lad who plays up front, brought in as competition for Danny Wright.

Strange the goings on at Barnet, Martin Allen leaves a club who seem to be chucking around silly amounts of cash on players for the league they are in........ To go to Eastleigh who like to chuck around silly amounts....... ok you get the picture!

Well Mckeown is a decent keeper so not that surprising, I reckon he only got put in because Man U would have recalled him if he didn't play, and Bignot had his rotation policy for his first several games to see every player play.

Of course he has shown he is a very good keeper and kept 4 clean sheets in 6 games and now can't be dropped, and hopefully will carry on being undroppable.

Shame for Macca though and means we will most likely need to find a new keeper in the summer.

Henderson could be the difference between midtable and the playoffs for us.

Nah, our midfield and whether the new signings are good enough will be the difference.
It's the midfield and not the defence which has been our weak point since about September

I agree with that. But I've a feeling we'd have a couple more points if Henderson had been in goal against Portsmouth and Doncaster. The defence also looks so much calmer with Henderson behind them. Hard to believe he's only 19.

McKeown cost us a lot of goals at the start of the season IMO, Henderson has been unbelievable since he got here. So much so I'd have £20 on him having an England cap at some point, fantastic news that he's back.

The talk in the Pontoon before the Accrington game was that Wycombe wanted him on loan for the rest of the season so Bignot was playing him to see if he was worth trying to keep him or not. Fair to say it was a good decision!

Henderson has been quality, but I do feel sorry for McKeown. Especially with the level of enthusiasm everyone is showering Henderson with.
