Read Alan's posts Kenny, and you'll get an idea where the money's coming from. Careful budgeting is the most important thing, esp. not budgeting on big gates and then finding yourself getting 2000 less. Plus, and this is important, we've let 3/4 of our squad go, so that frees up a lot of money.

Not really a criticism - however, if Cambridge are this successful, we must be even more so (I suppose our early signings/speculation indicate this too). Especially with nearly 6,000 ST holders last season, an average attendance of around 8,600 and £600,000 of income from Andre Gray's transfer.

We won't flog Jake unless we get a good fee for him, especially to a divisional rival.

Not convinced we would stand in his way to be honest, I don't see us demanding a particularly significant fee for him. Even with our horrific injury record this season, in terms of minutes on pitch Jake only played the equivalent of 26 out of 46 league games. He only completed 90 minutes on 17 occasions - at least 7 of which he played 90 minutes at left back purely because Griffiths was injured.

If the Potts rumour is true, or indeed if we sign any natural left back cover, you're talking about instantly cutting a third of Jake's already limited playing time out.

Jake has been a back-up or at best rotation player ever since Still arrived at the club (and arguably before that). If Cambridge are willing to pay a fee for him, I'm not sure we'd put up much of a resistance.

...and I think if we do sign Gwion Edwards from Crawley, he'd too be an instant upgrade. I like this guy.

Looks like the Romain Vincelot move from Leyton Orient to Luton is true, as per Twitter.

I assume you are talking about this tweet?
https://twitter.com/romain_vincelot/status/603465891225989120

Not sure you can read too much into that to be honest.

If his hidden meaning actually is "see you soon when I also sign for Luton", it seems a bit of a strange signing. He's a defensive midfielder I believe, which is our strongest area in the squad - especially if the Ogogo deal is still on the table.

Vincelot would be a good signing for you, wouldn't suprise me if our board did just let him leave. He is under contract for another year though.

Right, but they've lost two of their best players already, so it really could be it this year.

That's not too different from many years previous though. They often lose some players if they do well but are pretty good at replacing them.

They usually find a committed bunch of players and do well even if they start poorly - they've signed Pearson from Halifax today which is a good move. Coleman's a good manager for them too.

Don't ever write Accrington off. They'll pull something out of the bag.

Are Luton signing all 30 of these players then?

He's 31 years old and a winger, and he'd probably be expecting a 2 or 3 year contract I would assume? I wouldn't be too fussed about signing him.

He's a good player at this level but considering everything (31, transfer fee, big wages) you should steer clear.

Incredible mardy fucker too.

Not too sure about Mansfield. Reckon Dagenham, Morecambe and, depending on who they sign/let go, Wycombe will struggle more than the Stags. Also expecting Barnet to struggle a bit, but will steer themselves to safety and mid-table from January onwards. Still, too early to say.

It's pretty obvious we are going to assemble a squad with more talent, due to a few things which includes the fact it's nearly impossible to assemble a squad so poor that Cox did. The increased budget could, should enable us to increase overall quality even with a inexperienced manager like Muzza.

I'm very skeptical of Murray though, I really hope he proves successful with him being a bit of a legend to the club, but tactically he's come across really poor in my view.

Way, way too early to say though, we don't even have a squad yet and only made four signings but I imagine when the routine 'predict league table' thread appears i'll be putting Mansfield lower mid-table at the absolute maximum.

Lots of rumours surrounding us at the moment - isn't Vincelot a goal scoring midfielder or am I thinking of Vincenti? I know next to nothing about Edwards except an approach was made by us. If Vincelot is a DM then I don't think we will sign him and Ogogo, be one or the other, especially as I expect us to sign Cam McGeehan permanently from Norwich.

Vincelot got in to double figures for us in our L1 season (a lot with his head surprisingly considering he's about 5 ft tall).

Ogogo has scored a few over the last couple of seasons too.

I'd drive him up to Carlisle if we were to offer him a 3yr deal. He's a class player for this level.

Rumours picking up speed that Keanu Marsh-Brown is off to Orient.

Good riddance to a pest to our wage bill. The club aren't completely innocent in how he's been treated (to me on the outside anyway) but he's hardly done much to endear himself to people lately. It's a shame as he's a damn talented footballer. I'd steer clear personally, he's a bad influence. His mum/agent is completely nuts too.

Did he actually play for you much last season? Seemed a bit strange that you were requesting crazy fees for the guy when he wasn't in your team at the time. I do feel like we sort of dodged a bullet not signing him though, definite talent but that kind of attitude isn't worth the hassle.

Not crazy fees, he had 2 years left on his contract (which he hadn't long signed) and at the time hadn't displayed anywhere near his recent levels of arsehole-ery. He barely played at all last season, mainly because he didn't seem to buy into Allen's thing of tracking back and playing for your teammates. Although he played well when he was on IMO.

Very talented but I'd personally not want him anywhere near a club I support. Too much of a risk and won't be dirt cheap to pay either.

I was talking more in terms of 'If I were a Portsmouth fan', but still I don't think I'd like him here considering the wage he'd be on and the transfer fee.

Agree with that, although I do think he'll think that he has a point to prove and will want to stick two fingers up to the club. With that motivation, I would not be surprised if he was outstanding as he has the talent to play at least another step up. Equally I wouldn't be surprised if he threw his toys out of the pram either and took to Twitter to post another cryptic message or two.

I'd be curious to see if there is a fee involved. Our chairman is stubborn, so I think he'd be reluctant to let him go for nothing, even if the wages could be much better utilised elsewhere.

Accrington won't go down. Season on season they get no love from the bookmakers or opposition fans, but year on year they repeatedly punch above their weight and embarrass bigger clubs.

They are well organised and always turn up. All power to their elbow in my book. And far too early to consider any promotion/relegation candidates. We don't even have half a squad yet, so far too early for even us to have an opinion of ourselves.

Most fans gave KMB every chance but he simply isn't a team player. Not strong enough to play as a striker and wont help out defensively, close down or help regain the ball in any way. Give him the ball and he will hurt the opposition but the only formation he really fits into seems to be the 4-5-1 under Davids.
Not the brightest on social media and really threw a fit when Blackpool offered to buy him but our Chairman wasn't happy with the instalments being offered.
