This has probably been our best summer of recruitment in a long, long time, relatively speaking. Robins is a good manager and he seems to know what to do in regards to building a squad that will be competitive in this league. Main concern at the moment is that he might not stick around, as he has history of with us, and that we may struggle to cope with being a big name in this league. We've struggled in the past with teams coming to the Ricoh and being really up for it etc.

Wouldn't have thought his stock is high enough currently for you to be too worried.

Looking forward to the first day, should be a really good test of our own top seven chances this season. Think we've got a 100% record at the Ricoh to protect too.

Think we are now the only club not to have made any signings.

An utterly depressing time to be a Carlisle supporter especially when you consider how shite we were in the second half of last season.

Absolutely dreading this relegation battle.
We haven't made any and there was nobody new training with us yesterday.

We haven't signed anyone either.

The only debt we are in is to SISU iirc. I don't think we owe anyone asides from them anything. It's hard to know how bad our financial situation is really.
A bit worrying as far as the short term is concerned. Sad to see a club with the tradition and history of Coventry in this current mess. I'm sure your supporter groups are on the case.

Our record against you is appalling. One of the worst games I've ever been to is when you beat us 3-0 at Meadow Lane under Pressley and I watched Nathan Delfouenso get done for pace by Gareth Roberts.

Do you think another league club would pay a fee for him? Curious as I believe we still have a sell-on clause.

From our perspective it'd make no sense letting him go for free as we can keep the player and just let him go for nothing in a years time so if he leaves us this summer it'd have to be for a fee. What sort of fee we're demanding is anyone's guess.

I'm certain there will be interest in the player as he's clearly talented but he's yet to find the consistency needed to have clubs throwing money at us for his signature. I'm sure there will be managers at this level that'd be willing to take a gamble on Pett but whether they'd be prepared to give us money for the privilege I'm not so sure.

I just did a double take. Did someone actually say Robins is a good manager? Well I have heard him called many things....... :animatedf:

Isn't this the same guy who made his senior debut as a sub for Watford in a massive game that they needed to get a draw/win to get promoted, and then he let a lob from distance slip through his hands?

Even accounting for how nervous he must have been it still struck me at the time as an awful bit of goalkeeping.

Although despite that long anecdote I've no idea whether he's actually decent or not.

Surely he's not gonna be first choice if it's a half season loan...right?

Apparently only played 8 games at 23 year old, doesn't really fill you with hope. At least we've signed someone though.

It's just utterly depressing, even now we've signed someone. Especially when their fans describe a blunder like that and then I think back to 6 years ago beating them at Wembley, now they are loaning us their shite while they surf the waves of the championship.

Hand me a noose.

He will be, we've signed the youth lad as backup. That will be it. Our tight arsed unimaginative board won't allow us to have 3 pro goalkeepers on our books.

Brentford are run far far better than us.

As for this keeper we have signed on loan, well it is better than no keeper I guess.

Bonham has excellent potential as a young keeper, and I'd be surprised if he wasn't your first choice. Great shot stopper and regarded as having the best distribution amongst our three keepers, he simply hasn't played too frequently and therefore might lack some of the confidence of more experienced keepers. Hopefully he could put in a 'keeper of the season run for you lot.

He was given a game for us toward the end of the season at Barnsley, and put in an excellenshowing. Watch from 3.30 onwards (he saves the one that hits the bar):

That was a superb moment. Delfouneso was about 5 yards ahead of him as well.

They are some top saves and he is big too which is always a good factor for a keeper, I just hope he can catch the ball better for us as there is a moment in those highlights there where he embarrassingly drops the ball.

Thanks for the encouraging words though, I look forward to see how he fares.

Yeah promising saves but 2 moments where comes to catch the ball and either drops it or gets beaten to it by the head of an opponent.

All keepers drop the ball from time to time. When he started that game there was a sense of real nervousness from the Bees fans which fed into Bonham. It certainly didn't help.

The cross where he gets beaten to it I think he actually does quite well. None of our players are near the ball and no one is helping him out. If he doesn't challenge then their attacker has a free header on goal. Bonham gets out and puts him off.

If Bonham realises early on that he's a level above other keepers in L2 then he'll do very well indeed. If he doubts himself then he may struggle. This loan is a confidence building exercise for him.

We've signed Dean Moxey from Bolton.

Over the moon with this signing. Deano bleeds red and white, has bags of quality and isn't even that old!
By rights he should be playing in the championship so hopefully this signals our intent for the next few years.

Didn't realise Moxey is only 31. A hell of a signing for a player of that quality at that age.

Signing of the summer for this level so far.

Welcome back Deano!

I'm absolutely buzzing with this signing. He will improve us going forward as well as defensively as he is excellent from set pieces too. Still got years ahead of him too

A Dean Moxey and Lee Holmes combo is superb for this level. Now we need to sort the RB slot as the next priority....

The fact it's a half season loan worries me. If he turns out good, we'll probably lose him in January, if he doesn't, we're stuck with him as number one.

Good signing for Exeter, as long as they don't lose all of their key players from last season, I think they'll be top three.

I think it's more an insurance move for us in case a bid comes in for Bentley in January.
