We're supposedly still interested in Barrow's Ritchie Bennett despite our bid being rejected. His buy-out clause is rumoured to be around £50000, but we've not got much money to play with.

I have it on good authority that Nicky Maynard signed for us on Monday but it will not be announced until Thursday and also a loan has been agreed with someone but don't know if that will be Tyler Walker or that young Liverpool left back.

Has Maynard been announced yet? Very good signing to be fair will score plenty for you in this league

The lure of playing against such heavyweights as Kilmarnock and St Johnstone meant we never stood a chance on that one unfortunately.

Being serious though the guy who told me got all our January business spot on so I had no reason to suspect that he was obviously talking bollocks this time.

Pretty sure we're going to sign an untested kid or the trialist we currently have to fill the space upfront so we'll probably see Sam Jones start the season upfront (of which I have no issue). That means it frees up the CAM position behind that can be filled by any one of Berrett, Kelly (neither look nor sound like a good proposition) or Osborne, who is probably the best fit. Still have no idea what formation we're playing this year!

Apparently we have Jack Barthram on trial who was released by Cheltenham. A bit underwhelming but sounds like some fans think he was unfairly frozen out by Johnson last season?

No harm in looking I guess...

Strange one. We had him training with us a couple of years ago while he was at Swindon but chose not to sign him. Doesn't seem like he's progressed since so can't say I'm particularly enthused by this.

I like how our business seems to have gone under the radar, 9 summer signings to add to the good players we kept (We released 12 and there was a lot of shite in there!)

The players we've signed all fit Caldwells system and I personally have the buzz back for next season after last years horrendous campaign!

Were also due to announce our tenth summer signing rumoured to be one of the three between Louis Reed, Jose Semedo or Jonathon Douglas. Personally I'd be very happy with any of them, fingers crossed for Semedo though!

Yeah seem to remember that. Possibly a 1931 funded candidate?

Was hoping for much better tbh. Someone on twitter mentioned we were looking at Lawrie Wilson but not heard anything else. He'd be perfect but is realistically L1 standard.

And for what it's worth I think our best signing so far is Scott Wiseman... Looks a class above in the games I've seen so far! Looking forward to that back three of Evatt, Hird and Wiseman!!

Alex Lawless has signed for Leyton Orient after we released him. Tidy player but I don't think we saw the best of him.

You've got a shite squad, mid table at best surely looking at some of your players.

Again, without sounding too biased, we really don't need too much strengthening to be a good bet for promotion this season.

We've signed two so far, one of whom is a squad player and the other (Moxey) should really improve us. As it stands now we only really need a RB and we're pretty much there. Look at our form from November last season and we (i think) picked up the most points between that point and the end of the season.

Obviously things will likely change massively should Watkins or Wheeler leave but there's been no confirmed bids for either so far.

I do fancy us to do very well this season as we've kept all of our best players together, whereas some of the bookies favourites have brought in a lot of players which is never guaranteed. That said, you've got to look at the facts and as much as he's a fat c***, Evans has a promotion track record when he's given a cheque book as big as him so Mansfield will be up there. Luton and Coventry look strong but something about Nathan Jones has me wondering whether he's got the nouse to get a club like Luton promoted.

I'd be leaning towards Lincloln as a good promotion bet. They've got some good players in plus their management team seem great. Add to that they've got momentum and their attendances will be very healthy too.

Anyway, what do I know. We will most likely lose our first 5 games and the Tisdale out protests will start again!!!

Your point about Jones i think is definitely a fair one. No doubting the passion of the man, he clearly is a decent coach and I think he has a good understanding of how he wants to play, but he showed himself to be incredibly stubborn last year sticking to his 442 diamond formation for far too long, often shoehorning in players out of position to accommodate it, and placing too much faith in players like Cook. His infatuation with small technical number 10's is also a bit of a problem at this level where I think it became apparent last season we needed something a bit more in the center of the pitch than that.

I've also yet to see him really change a game with a tactical change that he has made and he got out thought at times I thought last season.

He definitely is a very promising manager but its definitely a big season for him as a manager, he doesn't really have any excuses.

We've had two bids rejected for Andy Cook, I can't see us paying what Tranmere would likely want tbh.

A shite squad??
I think the only area of the pitch you're stronger than us in is midfield and we're still trying to bring 1/2 more players into that area!

Id have Tommy Lee and Joe Anyon over fat lad Conrad Logan and Bobby olejnik all day long... I'd have a defence of Evatt, Hird and Wiseman over that crock Mirfin who's just looking for a final pay day and a Notts county reject in Krystian Pearce!! I could go on but tbf ill just leave it because it will be quite funny watching your players under perform in the first couple of months and steve Evans come under intense pressure... Then he'll do what he does at every other club when things start going wrong and attempt to turn the squad over again when next window opens... Guess it's just a case of wait and see

Notice the backtracking from a lot of stags fans over the summer? I remember when they were laughing at us saying we'd struggle to put a side out come first game of the season... Now after our shrewd business in the market, with Caldwell putting together a team with all the makings of one that looks like it could challenge, I've barely heard a peep from that side of the M1... Bless em, forever in the shadow

Pearce is one of the best centre backs at this level from last seasons showing.

There were rumours that he was struggling to stay fit last season which was why he was being left out of the team so often. Not sure why else he'd have been left out as he was outstanding in the NL and solid whenever he did play in L2. I think if he can stay fit he'd be a good but not spectacular signing in this division.

What's up with this WH_Stag fella. Worst troll/WUM I've ever seen. Can he be banned for a little while until he learns to be a grownup?
