25 years of 'we're gonna do this' , 'we're gonna do that' only for them to do nothing apart from the odd lucky victory sort of makes mansfields claims of superiority rather cringe , good luck tho and congrats if you do but you've certainly not learnt any lesson. It'd be nice for you to finish above us for the first time in 25 years to be fair. 25 years eh? 25 years of being our tiny little bitches. No wonder they are so bitter. Bless em. We only had 3 sides. Seriously good luck tho.

Must be nice for you to be the bigger club in your rivalry now you've had to accept Wednesday/United and even little ode Rotherham don't give a fuck about you. Fuck me even Burton couldn't give a fuck.

They've always been shite, they're still shite, and they'll always be shite, simple as that.

In the Mansfield-Chesterfield rivalry I think this might be the season where the pendulum finally swings in favour of the Stags. That said, your situation is looking much better than it did a month or two ago and football always throws surprises.

Also I hope that Chesterfield do better than expected. Surely it's better for both parties if we have two decent teams challenging at the right end of the league. No sense in being babies about it.

Not being funny but even if you finished above us this year, the pendulum definately will not swing in you favour... We've finished above you for a quarter of a century... It would take a long long time aswell as sustained success before you could even merely consider that the pendulum had swung your way...

Stags fans won't like to admit it, but we left you behind a long time ago in terms of the size of our clubs!

Well my argument would be that if you compare the two clubs and look at the evidence (quality of squads, managers, chairmen etc.) then it seems that the Stags are on the rise whereas you are in decline, even though you have stabilised in the past couple of weeks with a number of good signings.

If we can get into League One (definitely not saying that it will happen) and then stabilise while you have a few underwhelming seasons in League Two then you would have to consider this to be the season that the pendulum swung in our favour.

But whatever, I hope my little theory is ruined and you do well too!

I hope one of you fuckers goes up so we don't have to endure this shite again next summer.
I was literally just about to post something similar. It's boring already and we've got ages til the start of the season.

I don't think it's nice showing any sort of favouritism, one more so than the other, so I am going to be sporting and say I hope that both of them go down....

Our squads coming together nicely anyway. Just because we didn't sign 23 players in June doesn't mean we aren't gradually getting a squad together. I imagine we will add maybe 2 more and we will be done. Been a massive summer and we have got the big earners off the wage bill and O'Frady aside replaced them with a lot of inexperience so we will see how that pans out. We may we'll be mid table this season but we were in a state 2 months ago so I'm slightly more optimistic now.

As for Mansfield, they were quoted at 9/2 in places, biggest lay bet you'll ever see that. Not buying their quantity approach. After 28 years or whatever it has been, they are due one good one I guess.

Apparently we have Jack Barthram on trial who was released by Cheltenham. A bit underwhelming but sounds like some fans think he was unfairly frozen out by Johnson last season?

No harm in looking I guess...

He's class. Had a fall out with Johnson very early in the season and the writing was on the wall from there. He's a good defender, and can run up and down the wing all day without ever tiring.

Was the only player I was actually gutted to see released in the summer even though it was a nailed on certainty. Would love for him to get another League club to prove Johnson wrong.

That's a bit rich considering the absolute toilet water everyone has had to read between lincoln and Grimsby fans all over that season tickets thread. Thought at one point we would need Jeremy Kyle to resolve the fallings out

That's down to one member, stop being so precious. You managed to get the Jeremy Kyle joke in though, well done.

Watching Chesterfield and Mansfield fans argue about who is the bigger club is like watching two straw-weights box. And those of you into your boxing will know just how often straw-weight fights are broadcast. About as many times in a year as Sky show League Two games...

Two similar towns close together, obviously a lot of vitriol if you look back at social history, but neither would look out of place in Leagues 1 or 2. They're literally the same as a good 40 other clubs in this country.

The only club in this league I'd say who are any bigger than an L1/L2 floating club are obviously Coventry and that's backed up with their past. The rest of us (bar the original non league clubs punching above their weight) are L1/L2 floaters to the core...

That's encouraging for sure. Would love to have someone who can give us some width down the right now that Jack Stacey has gone. Will be keen to see how he does over the next couple of weeks.

We've got Josh smile on trial with us released by Fulham and looked very decent tonight apparently against the mighty bishops Cleeve!

Oh and apparently Swindon are linked with some tall bloke from Millwall.

Looks like Regan Booty (great name) from Huddersfield is on our official sites twitter pics in Portugal. Been a few rumours on the internet about him joining us the last couple of days so it's looking pretty conclusive, unless he just wanted a free bit of time in the warmth. :emb:.
