Like the sound of Smith. Reckon he could be useful and nice to have a genuine aerial threat up front.

Not too sure on McDermott but definitely good to see us adding width.

Makes a change from the weedy little teams we have been fielding recently!

None of the trialists who played on Saturday appear to have gone to Portugal.

Not to say we've sacked them off completely, but if we were really interested in any of them then I suspect they'd have been over there.

Forest have bid a million+ for James Justin apparently. I'd want double that and a big sell on clause at least personally, we are in an extremely strong negotiating position given his contract status and money already brought in this summer.
Just wow. I personally think with a big sell on £1m is a good price for a RB.

Am i still being delusional about the fees for our players? I didn't expect a team to bid that.

No chance on this Earth a fullback in the fourth tier would go for £2 million and a sell on...

We sold John Brayford when he made team of the year in this league for £700,000 plus add ons in 2010. Pretty much doubt Forest would shell £2 million for a fourth tier RB with 30 League Two appearances to his name...

What's the situation with Watkins Exeter fans? IMO, he's the most promising player in L2 right now and would be a shame if you lot really do end up selling him for much less than he's worth. Is it true you're asking for 2 million? Easily worth double that I reckon.

Nothing concrete is happening. Well at least not to public knowledge anyway.

There's lots of credible rumours that says we rejected £3M for him in January from Derby. Personally I'd want no less than £3M in today's stupid market and it's rumoured we want nearer £4M.

Whatever happens, I just hope it's resolved sooner rather than later so we're not left with him leaving on deadline day.

Think it's more of an indictment of the transfer system in this country at the moment. Should ANY defender be signed for that amount below the Championship.

He's a very promising player, but any future talk of him playing for England is quite premature.

That's the point though - we don't need to sell at all. He still has three years left on his contract and we are already well over a million quid up on transfer fees this window. What incentive do we have to sell now unless the fee is absurd? It's not like his value is likely to decline now that he is first choice and getting youth international recognition.

Well their first bid is £1m plus sell on supposedly, I fully expect us to reject that too. Transfer fees are lightyears away from 2010, and we have zero incentive to sell at whatever the perceived "going rate" might be. I'd be surprised if we didn't dig our heels in on this one personally.

I was quite surprised we turned down £3m. Yes he's worth it and no we dont really need the money but still for £3m we could do so much in the long term.

You're right it's totally mental. But that's today's market.

Two and a half years ago we sold Matt Grimes, who's nowhere near the same talent, for £1.75M and since then the market has gone nuts.

Watkins is a forward who's got two great feet, is a pure athlete and has that little bit of quality which you just know will take him a long way and he's been voted EFL young player of the year, so £4M isn't totally ridiculous.

We don't need to sell so we can afford to hold out for stupid money and hopefully a big sell on.

If his head gets turned by a bigger club (hypothetically if there were a bigger club than Luton) then you might feel you need to sell.

Yes he is very skilful. I was a bizarrely a little disapppointed that he did not really feature at Home Park.

We are linked with a loan for Calum Dyson from Everton. How did he do at Grimsby last season?

£1m is a great fee for a League Two right back. I can sort of understand holding on to a striker as finishing is innate and everyone needs goal scorers, but you can train another good right back or get a steady clogger to do the same job.

Take the million.

True, if he agitated for a move that would change the outlook of course. He did come out and say he wanted to stay here this season a few weeks back when Leicester were linked so I'm not sure he is in a rush just yet, he knows guarantees first team football will ultimately be better for his career than u23 football again (although to be fair he'd probably get a decent amount of game time at Forest, different story to Leicester there).

Any Lincoln or Cheltenham fans got a view on Koby Arthur? Currently training with us after release from Brum.

Luton fans - Dean Brill. One of your best ever keepers yeah? The one that got away?

He's between the sticks for us tonight at Royston. He also conceded after a couple of minutes.

That's the one thing with Watkins people have the bear in mind, he's still very young and won't turn up each time.

It was the same in the play off final, where he struggled to get into the game. Whereas in the playoff semi second leg he was different class.

Yeah I don't think Roofe is even close. Certainly he wasnt in with a shout of the EFL young player award.

It was the best I saw us play all year, so to a large degree he was not allowed to get in the game. In that he was not alone. But you are right he is young and creative, he cannot succeed every match
