Well Angol been brought with a future profit in mind, you can never predict stuff like that and I have barely seen him play so I cannot comment.
I think he's definitely a player you could flog for seven figures in a few years time.

Our local rag reckons we are close to signing Harry Cornick from Bournemouth on a permanent. Yeovil fans, or any lurking Orient or Gills fans, what is he like.

Also Gary Roberts just left Pompey by mutual consent. Where do we think he's rocking up? Unlikely to be is if we are in for Cornick.

Be a great bit of business if so.

I actually feel like Angol and Rose are going to get plenty between them this season, although another striker is needed.

Despite all this 'big spending Mansfield' we only paid modest fees for Hayden White and Angol this summer I think - obviously we still have a top budget but I don't think for example it's on par with Lutons.

Cornick might end up being more of a Vassell replacement though, if he's a pacey winger/forward type which seems to be how he is described in the articles I've read. That's what Vassell was when he first joined. That would still theoretically leave room in the squad for another midfielder, although personally I'm not keen on the idea of Roberts as it'd be a big wage for a player with no re-sale value and no obvious role in the XI (can't see us dropping Shinnie and can't see Roberts working deeper).

Don't think using fees paid is a good way to guess at our budget, our net spend will be the lowest in the league by a mile despite the big fee we paid for Collins as we have raked in the cash this summer.

No doubt our wage budget is very sizeable for the level, no idea how it would compare to other top spenders down here this season though.

I'm not doubting you can afford it.

Do you still only post partial accounts?

We are apperantly trying to make a profit this season, I can only assume one call sponsorship money is greatly increased lol.

About time Cornick found a proper home rather than being pushed around on loans every season. I can't tell you much about him that you don't already know - he's technically neat and tidy can plays wide or up top. Good luck to him.

I thought Angol looked great for Lincoln last season and I was surprised they didn't try harder to bring him in. I guess you got him in early though, before they decided to start splashing the cash.

They lost out and cried about us spending too much money, they then went and signed bostwick for double the cost of Angol...

Silly money is being asked for now by clubs for average players. Godden 1M?? Neymar effect in full swing

Cornick conrfirmed. Two years, option for a third, undisclosed. No idea how good a signing it is as know nothing about him.

Interesting to note that the story on the online site emphasises him as a forward rather than a winger. A sign Vassel may well be off?

Back a week today in the tinpot trophy according to Jones.

The Cornick signing almost guarantees that Vassell leaves I think - hard enough keeping the four strikers we had happy, no way we'd sign a fifth without one leaving. Real shame not to reap the rewards of his incredibly rapid development on the pitch but if the fee is as big as rumoured it's a hell of a profit to turn in 12 months.

I really hope Vassell stays but this signing might mean he's off. Wouldn't be happy about that if it does happen as Vassell is much more of a prospect.

I can't help but feel that Luton will be better off if they sell Vassell, esp. if the figure is really upwards of 1.2 mil. He may be quite decent now, but I'm always wary of players who improve massively in what looks like such a short time. Players who improve gradually year after year are much more dependable and offer much better VFM imo.

It would be massively disappointing, but even we can't afford to turn down a sizeable 7 figure bid for someone out of contract next year and won't sign a new deal.

It is a disappointment, but as someone on Outlaws pointed out, if Hylton had been fit in pre season him and Collins would have started on Saturday without question, so Vassell would have been on the bench and no-one would have batted an eyelid about it. Makes it even harder to resist the money in that context.

So £1.65m on our third and fourth choice strikers this summer. Not bad.

It's not 1.65m if nobody's paid it.

Until the cheque is cashed it's just forum chat.

May as well have been a bag of peanuts and a shite handjob.

Is this fee for certain then? Where has it come from?

Various twitter transfer feeds and was also in The Sun this morning. So nothing remotely trustworthy.

Not in the squad for the Ipswich game. Got to think that confirms it.

Kenneth was including the £450k from Marriott there. Few places reporting that we have turned down two £1.2m bids for Vassell though so could turn out to be more. He's almost definitely off though - not playing tonight.

I'm just finding it hard to believe the fee, that's all. Over estimated fees seem to be popular in this thread throughout the summer.

Doubt it would all be up front in any case, but the £1.2m rumour has come from sports journalists (some of questionable credentials admittedly) rather than Luton fans. Doubt we'll ever know for sure as we almost never disclose fees.

We still surely need another striker, surely.

Nathan Jones said post match that no new bids came in for Isaac Vassell today and he was out of the squad due to illness. Man I really hope that's true, Vassell is going to be a special player and I't love to see Luton hold on to him for another season at least.
