Don't think we'll be pushing up too many sticks here next season personally. We've still only got one CB signed with us for next season. We can be included in the relegation lists.

Just getting the pessimism in early.

Also looks like the KMB to Orient rumours have died down, which is very good news for them. One to avoid!

Can you stop your negativity please?! You thought we weren't going to win the league up until it was confirmed! Just show some positivity for gods sake.

Ronnie Moore was our third new manager that season and the only to bring the so called 'New Manager Affect' you mention.

I think we will be fine.
But should I back pools for automatic promotion?

Sounds like we're going to sign Omar Sowunmi, 19 year old centre back from Ipswich. Was part of the trial games and is now following Yeovil on Twitter, with Lowestoft Town (where he was on loan last season) stating that he's agreed a contract here.

Let's be honest, it'll be surprising if we're pushing the playoffs though.

We've signed Gavin Hoyte on a two year deal. Is he decent?

He is OK.
Better going forward than defending in my opinion. Has a tendency to switch off and this resulted in him giving away a couple of penalties last season.
Steady enough though and no slouch. He is also not old despite seeming to have been around for a long time.
All in all a decent signing I would say.

Quite like Hoyte. Pretty versatile if a bit limited. Think he'll do rather well for Barnet.

Sounds decent then. Hopefully it doesn't mean Yiadom is being moved from RB, I like him there. Don't think he'll be a massive first teamer

Some of our fans do appear to be getting a bit carried away with their optimism. I think we look a solid mid table side with what we have. About as likely to make playoffs as be involved in relegation

Decent signing meaning we can rotate \cover Yiadom, Vilhete & Hoyte

We've signed George Swan, a young CB from Wolves.

We had Hoyte on loan from Arsenal in L2.

Agree with TLW. Better going forward than defending and from memory, although not the tallest, was good in the air. He was very quick so he could recover quite comfortably from any mistakes he made.

I thought he'd end up being a solid L1 RB but he picked up a bad knee injury here, so I'm not sure whether that's held him back.

When Jordan Rhodes was the same age as Mark Cullen is now, he'd just scored 29 goals in his first full season in the Championship. Not to mention the 71 goals in the three prior seasons at League One level. Or the £8.5 million in transfer fees racked up.
Obviously he's gone on and done it and is class (he's played against us a countless number of times for Huddersfield and has always impressed me), but when he was on loan at (Brentford?) in this league, we were linked with a permanent move for him the following summer and from what I'd seen of him in league 2, I did wonder if he'd be able to step up to league 1 because he wasn't quick, not particularly skillful, just a right place right time finisher. Anyway he did step up obviously, and stepped up again.

Not a transfer as such but there'd been plenty of rumours that our keeper Gillespie was set to leave for a League 1 club. He's coming in next week to sign a new deal with us - potentially the best bit of business we'll do this summer as long as he stays fit. He played a few blinders last season despite being out for most of it. Burton springs to mind as his most impressive one but there were others too. I'm surprised he hasn't left to be honest.

Someone is signing the carthorse Brett Williams from Aldershot. possibly Stevenage.

Was shot when on loan at us a season or so back. Think he went to daggers for a while. A very average league 2 defender.

I'm surprised he hasn't gone. Maybe his spell out injured took him off other clubs radar. Great news for us, would have been a right ball ache (and left for that matter) trying to replace him.

Sure, but I still don't think the (sort of) comparison to Cullen is valid. When Rhodes was playing in League Two, he was 18, turning 19 towards the end of the season. He still had a 1 goal every 2 games strike rate that season. Cullen is four years older than Rhodes at the time and has a vastly worse goals to games ratio at the same level (Cullen's isn't much better than 1 goal every 4 games). Rhodes is also a solid 4 inches taller and far better in the air which compensates somewhat for his lack of pace.

Rhodes might only have the one trick, but he's always done it pretty exceptionally well even when he was in his teenage years. Cullen does the same trick but only at average levels.

I'd be properly amazed if he becomes anything more than a 10-12 goal a season man at League One level.

I liked Hoyte. Would certainly have had him back. He was always a 7/10 kind of player. Decent but never amazing. Plus he's very versatile as he can play across the back (although predominantly a RB).

Fair enough. To be honest I've no idea how old Cullen is, I assumed he was about 19/20 as that's what Peterborough usually go for.
It was more the description of his attributes (and lack of) as that's how I used to view Rhodes until he started scoring every week in league 1

Someone who always scores against Cambridge in preparation for the 2016/2017 season?
Nahh. League Cup maybe. We'll probably pass in the night, as the authorities move on from Blatter and deal with MacAnthony. They sink and we rise, so I'll never get to see us play them in a league match.

Hard for me to personally judge as I've not seen L2 standard football for a while, except for when Wycombe came in the Cup (not going to go into that match again, opening old wounds just mentioning it). I hope we can be stable in that little group in between mid table and relegation candidates, although of course the higher the better. I just don't know what to expect, so I may as well let my pessimism take hold and allow myself to be surprised!

Rumours around that we're after Roger Johnson, which must be a pisstake.

Someone is signing the carthorse Brett Williams from Aldershot. possibly Stevenage.

Always rated him quite highly really. Don't think he'd be amazing in L2 but not bad as a backup choice.
