Nice to see MK and Exeter keeping this thread lively. Not sure after capturing Hall on a season long loan that Notts will be contributing too much more

I’d still expect a couple, maybe 3 more. A winger then loans for another striker (Bennet) and maybe a youngster utility defender.

Alex Macdonald has signed a new two year deal, I was pretty much certain we were going to lose him to a L1 Club so good news.

Flitcroft comment that Macca benefited from his training regime in the last four games worries me because him and everyone else was shite under Flitcroft!

Carlisle have signed Macauley Gillesphey from Newcastle on a 2 year deal.

We had him on loan 2 seasons ago. Promising centre back, was never going to be good enough for the premier league but bags of potential at this level.

Yeah pretty pleased with that, when Newcastle were in the Championship I presumed he would be fairly close to a spot on the bench for them, then when they went up I presumed he would go to League One as a minimum, and I still think he should be playing at that level within the next couple of years.

Is it possible that Jordan Moore-Taylor was swung by the possibility to rejoining the man who brought him from the youth system and made him captain, rather than just being a mercenary? Maybe, Maybe not, it's certainly a thought.

As for the clause that Tisdale had insider knowledge of, that's what you get when you change manager, you can't expect him to just forget everything he knows about Exeter, and if it hadn't been Tisdale then I'm sure JMT's agent would have made sure anyone sniffing around knew about the clause.

Ryan Watson from Barnet comes in on a free. Squad player by the looks of it but we need someone in the squad capable of pinging it so im happy enough. Expect D'Ath to be next in.

Hahahahaha! I can't believe that he's found a League club. He is the epitome of someone who runs around a lot to no effect. He can play the effective long ball once in a while but never enough to justify selection.

We’ve signed Ashley Hunter from Fleetwood.. unless he’s just randomly wearing our training kit.

He signed a 3 year contract for them in March so not sure if there’s money involved.

Anyone know anything about him?

Yep, and I think that's probably right. The club confirmed we offered to make him our highest paid player (which would probably be very good money for League 2) so I don't think it was specifically money motivated, though MK are probably offering him more.

I just question why his loyalty is with Tisdale over his boyhood club, who had given him everything and were prepared to give him even more.

He'll be a back up option, nothing more unless performances warrant it. Maybe in a better side he'll take that next step and improve

Can't answer that myself, but his words on it are:
“It was a big decision but I felt it was the right time to move away from Exeter City. I had a few options but here I’ve got the manager, Matt Oakley and Mel Gwinnett that gives me similarity and it’s not a shock to the system.

“I know how the manager works and how he wants to play, but I don’t know the Club and I hope the lads help me settle in.”

He added, “I’m looking forward to a new challenge, I had a good six years at Exeter where I came through the youth ranks – but I’m looking forward to a new challenge.”

We're supposed to be signing Boreham Wood keeper Grant Smith.

Martin Allen rightly identified that he wouldn't be a useful part of the squad in the NL, so I have no idea why Tisdale thinks he has anything to offer to a team chasing promotion from L2. He's powder puff and struggles with the mental side of the game - frequently his head would just drop when we went a goal down - and he has the awful habit of turning his back to goal whenever he gets the ball and taking an age to release it, but isn't strong enough to hold off the inevitable pressing that follows.

The only real plus point to his game is the occasional Hollywood pass that he pulls out every few games when given enough time and space on the ball, but it doesn't happen enough to justify the powder puff rubbish that goes with it.

I can only assume Tisdale was impressed with the free kick he scored at Exeter last season and is judging him largely off that.

Perhaps, but is it a case of being in a team that lost most weeks that highlighted his flaws whereas being in a team that should win more often than not can help him calm down and improve. In any case it's clear he won't be a starter unless he earns it through performances, and we desperately needed squad depth.

We won as many as we lost in 16/17 and Watson was dreadful then. He didn't look great whenever he appeared for us in Martin Allen's 8 match spell in charge of us either last seas.

Fair enough, all I'll say is I won't judge him until he's played a few games, but we had Paul Downing who was abysmal for us and he went on to be a mainstay in the Blackburn team last season. Players can be more effective at new clubs.

Ha, we had Paul Downing on loan at us very early on in his career and he was reasonable for us, although not as good as Michael Hector who was another loanee that he partnered in central defence.

Quite glad we missed out on D'Ath he could have been good and may be for MK but we have signed far too many hit and miss wingers with suspect injury records in recent years.

Not convinced he's what we need but if we keep him fit he's obviously got the quality. Midfield three of O'Connor, Frecklington and Bostwick is very good on paper, but all three are getting on and we could do with a bit more mobility.

We apparently offered him a new deal at the weekend (our previous best before that was 25% down on his just expired deal), so he won't come cheap. Good player if fit, not sure the ideal Woodyard replacement though.

Very different player to woodyard. That sounds like a very slow midfield but we managed to finish 5th with no pace

Mansfield have made their first movement (technically) in the transfer window by tying down Alex MacDonald for another 2 years.

Our best midfielder by far last season, and will be crucial to us this coming season
