I am not sure that is true about Ferrier as he moved to Walsall in the end, but I agree we were never going to match the Rowe fee.

We know the owners' hearts are in the right place, but I'd have thought we would have made more progress financially after 3-4 years of their ownership than we seem to have done. If finances are tight, I don't know why Palios talked up a promotion challenge over the summer as it just puts added pressure on Mellon.

Think the League 1 factor finally influenced Ferrier...

I don't think finances are tight but Mark is a clever bloke and wouldn't want to rush into anything today. If we can get a good loan in until January and then spend the money on a player that's been thoroughly scouted then I'd say that's a good way of doing it. Our squad is still a solid one and I think we'll finish comfortable mid table. Pushing for playoffs may be too ambitious I agree.

Do yer think so? I'm not sure. I think Danny Whitehead is a huge loss. Not convinced about either/both of Kelleher and Grimes being better than Lowe & Pilks, or Rose better than Mitch. Would agree Smith looks an upgrade on Bliss though, and can't say just yet whether Taylor will prove to be better than Jalal over a season.

I agree with Dan that it is a better team now.

I agree with you that Danny Whitehead is a big loss but I think we've made several quality additions on last year's squad. Even if it didn't work for Vincenti at Coventry, my mate who's a Rochdale fan says that Vincenti was quality at L1 level just a year ago and was gutted when he went to Coventry - I think he will prove a quality signing. Callum Maycock looked like an upgrade on Mitch at Swindon in my opinion, and I can't understand how Jalal is even mentioned in the same breath as Taylor - Rhys is just so much better, as he showed again on Saturday. I actually like Blissett and think he was a key reason in us winning the league last season, but I agree that Smith looks better.

So far, not been impressed by either centre-back (particularly Grimes) and I agree with you that he should put Lowe back in on Saturday. Rose did not impress me either, but I expect him to be dropped on Saturday because we have lots of midfield options now.

Watching the game on Saturday, it was a massive step up from NL level and we'll still do very well to even survive. But having signed Vincenti today, I feel a lot more confident about our chances.

Yes, the majority of the signings seem decent and the recruitment has been better than last summer's fiasco. But I still worry that we are light in a couple of key areas.

Apparently Ben Whitfield has been released by Bournemouth. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him end up down here.

I’d definitely have him back as I think he would do even better in this squad.

According to Aspin he agreed a permanent deal to come in January but backed out and got his agent to tell Aspin. I’m not sure Aspin would have him back after that. They always seemed to have a bad relationship.

Whitfield has been rumoured on our Vitals forum for some time. Think we are one loan player away from completing our squad so we might well be in for him.

Would have him back as he offers another option in terms of he is a player we don’t have in this squad.

He was an odd one though, superb when fit first half of the season but generally poor after Xmas and rarely started... that said will always owe him for that late winner against Chesterfield which kept us up in reality!

Seriously though, it's becoming pretty obvious that Lincoln have one of the biggest budgets ever seen at this level. Anything less then comfortable automatic promotion will be a spectacular failure.
No they don't. We spunked far more than them when di Canio got us up from L2.

Budgets really don't bother me. If they've got it, spend it. Fair fucks, I say.

Apparently for the next three weeks, as well as still being able to sign players on loan, players who become free agents during that period will also be counted as free agents that can be signed at any point in the season. So I'd say at this level it will just be business as usual until the end of the month. So it's only really those clubs looking to hang on to star players, and Lincoln who are affected by the new rules preventing people throwing cash around in August.

And it feels great!

Just hope we haven’t pissed it away like your lot did for 4 years, we won’t have cash for that long!

As long as you don't get any injuries to your 13 man squad that isn't a problem and didn't cost you promotion last season.

$Notts$ $County$ are the money team this season though, followed by Lincoln and Mansfield.

It’ll be a pisser if Lincoln’s players don’t take to total Cowley football and they blow what should be a reasonably easy promotion.

We’ll be in the top three easily. MK probably too, I think we both have 30+ men squads.

Edit: I mean in terms of wages not actual position.

I doubt Bury are in the top three, I reckon only County and maybe MK have a bigger budget than Mansfield.

Beckford's probably on the same wage as every other player in the league combined.

Beckford, Dawson, Bunn, Thompson, O’Shea will all be on at least 3-5k a week. There maybe more that I’ve forgotten.. if you have more players on that then that’s a worrying thought.

Don’t Oldham have some obscene wages?

Our net wage/transfer budget is going to be practically negative. Plucky little Tranmere.. :£

Our budget was quoted at around £2.5m last season.

It's probably bigger now due to being unable to shift a few players.

Not sure promotion of any type , comfortable or scrapped or lucky as f##k can be seen as a failure let alone a spectacular one Chris lol

On those home attendances?? :ohm::dk:

At least we didn't close down the ladies team because the club was losing so much money then spent over half a million quid a year later on transfer fees alone.

Maybe Mr.Hardy is a sexist. bastard.
