Mansfield have signed Aidan Stone a 20 YR goalkeeper to help cover the fact that Bobby Olejnik is still out from that year out freak injury, so it's basically a understudy role to Conrad Logan untill then. He was on trial at Mansfield last season but nobody knew about it, and ended up spending it at Burnley last season.

No fee involved, sorry :£

I’m putting money on you to go down. He’s not bad, but I was already confident you’d be relegated and signing Ray won’t help that.
Ray aside, why are you saying that already without knowing who else we bring in? There's a nucleus of a team capable of staying up already in place, although the Norwood sized gap up front will probably need two players to fill. Bolton and probably Bury will be starting with a points deduction too.

Looks like we might be interested in a keeper called Adam Smith, recently released by Bristol Rovers, who was fired by Leicester for an indiscretion on a club tour to Thailand...at least according to his Wikipedia entry.

Thanks but no thanks!

Was good when we won the league, especially at the start of the season when he won us a lot of points. Got ideas above his station it seems and it hasn’t paid off.

Think I'm gonna see if I can get a new chant going at Brunton Park next season.

To the tune of Guantanamera

One year deal,
It's just one year deal,
One year deeeee-al
Just a single year deal.

Contracted till July
We sign a season at a time
And then a one year exteeeension,
Just a one year extension.

When the season's at an end,
There'll be an option to extend
For a one year exteeeension,
We can't afford to pay your pension

Based on the 2 times I saw you in person and the 3 play off games I watched on TV.

Norwood is an absolutely massive (and inevitable) loss who I don’t see you replacing. I do hope you stay up though and we join you, happy to see George go to a club like yourselves. Great guy and a massive personality on and off the pitch. I’ll greatly miss him.

Bit of a blow for Northampton fans that, make a handful of decent (on paper) signings, then sell your captain and best defender to Shrewsbury.

Latest name mentioned on Exeweb is Gary Woods, goalkeeper from Hamilton Accies. Played quite a bit for Donny when they were in L1 and the Championship.

Tbh I expected Ward to be number 1 but given that Woods is more experienced I’d imagine he will want that spot.

Ajose still linked too so I am hoping for some more incomings this week.

James Vaughan signed on a three year deal, really impressed with our business so far this window.

Good signing as long as he stays fit. I think Bradford will be top 3 so long as these players aren't here for one last payday and stay injury free.

Good player but a 3 year deal is surprisingly long, especially for a 30 year old. Don't think many clubs offer that length of contract too often?

Hold on to him as I hear Jay O'Shay is heading to Auss
Rumours that his contract at Bury was 9k a week. If so we are never in the running.

Expect some movement our end very soon. With Carey, Lameiras and Ladapo all off we'll be in the market for some attackers. We've barely got 11 to field at the moment. Interesting couple of weeks ahead.

Yeah bit of a blow but think he’s replaceable personally, got relegated and finished lower mid table in his two seasons here

I think Reid will be a good signed for Cheltenham, if he’s used correctly. He was a major reason we got to the play offs in 2017 and he works well with pace around him. He struggled alongside Stockley though so they need to partner him up correctly to get the best out of him.

Wellens says we are after 2 more strikers, a winger and Kyle Bennett, then we’re done.

At the end of contract he'd be 33, is that really that old? We had Gary Jones at 36 and he was absolutely first class. If a player looks after himself they're still fine at that age!

Vaughan will definitely become a strain on the budget at some point in that three year contract, good signing for now mind.

Gary must be enjoying having a real budget to spend, unlike the chocolate coins he had with Blackpool.

At our end it's no where near, 3 to 5k.
Danny Mayor in talks with Trannies is an interesting one.

Hearing it was the extra year that persuaded him to join Bradford, we were only prepared to offer him 2.

Makes sense; and the realistic aim of Champ football.

Looked good when we were doing well, then not so. Thought that he was better than he was having come from LCFC, good shot stopper but failed a number of times on many of the basics.
Would have been good at The Saints with his propensity to kick for touch...

Agree with this, we recently had Marc Richards and Matt Taylor that were well into their mid to late thirties before they started to wane. (Taylor probably later than Rico).

Oh ffs, not another keeper who does that. :ffs: At least with the new goal kick rules we'll find it easier to play our preferred tiki taka between our keeper and defence without annoying oppo twats getting in the way and nicking the ball, so he won't have to kick it long too often.

Would prefer Garratt from what I've heard, but he'll probably get a better offer.

Strange that there only 1 winger is on the shopping list unless he is going to try and utilise Anderson/Woolery there? Or have Bennett as a rudimentary winger if required.

This is now where the fun transfers happen. :)
