Apparently one of our trialists is Jake Jervis, no nowt of him apart from recognise his name for Plymouth once upon a time.

Always makes me laugh when someone who has played 200 odd games goes on trial.

We had Neil Eardley on trial, the rest is history.
Well done Michael Brown on that one
Keep up VF16

Bet you’d still rather have kept Walker.

Cook definitely a downgrade - Maynard should do the business.

A lot will depend on your rookie manager next season.

Cook is an upgrade compared to Rose and Davies.

Maynard is a downgrade from Walker for me.

Cook, to me, is just a journeyman non league striker - much like Miller.

13 goals for Walsall last season doesn’t scream prolific to me.

Maynard did the business in L2 last season - proven.

I can’t help feeling the system Adam’s played suits Jervis, namely out on the right of four man midfield. Does track back well. Can play up front, but if you need someone to hold the ball up, look elsewhere. Personally, I had a lot of time for him.

I didn’t bother last time but let’s be fair, however difficult it may be, and I’m not totally convinced on Cook either.

13 (18 total) goals in a relegated side in L1 suggest he’s more than capable of around 15 with Mansfield and a big aerially threatening player is what we severely missed. Basically you are struggling to understand what Mansfield need to improve on from last season, and any comparison to Miller is daft - He’s clearly twice the player.

Walsall fans were not exactly happy about Cook leaving, everyone is pretty much happy when Miller has left after scoring about 2 goals - it really is a thoughtless comparison.

You didn’t need to improve on anything. You just needed a competent manager.

You didn’t fail to go up because of deficient players.

Absolutely incorrect, we only had one striker capable of scoring for the entire season - you really are something else regarding Flitcroft, there is literally no need to make up criticism because there’s plenty of real stuff to have a go at him.

Now explain the Cook/Miller comparison, I want to hear more absolute shite - that’s what this forum is all about :)

Both scored plenty in non league. Miller was a failure in league football. At 30 years old and a career knocking about at Barrow et al Cook isn’t proven to me as a league striker.

He may well do OK for you - but in my opinion that isn’t a given.

And who’s making up criticism of Flitcroft? The world and his dog know it was his, and his alone, failure that did for you.

Are Mansfield looking to get rid of Rose? I've only seen fleeting glimpses of him but I think there is a decent league 2 striker in there. He's only 5 ft 8 but I was quite impressed with him in the air, what are Mansfield fans thoughts on him?

I presume he's not going to be first choice now you have signed Cook and Maynard?

The blame always goes to the top, but ultimately some players share some responsibility too, I probably know more about what went wrong in comparison to you, to be fair - sort of a benefit from watching the games every weekend.

Anyway Cook is 28, which is a big difference in football to start off with, more importantly Cook has actually had a half decent season with a relegated side in L1 while being fairly well rated by Walsall, Grimsby, and Tranmere fans where Miller has had about 3 good games in his entire EFL career.

Nothing is a given in football, but the chances of Cook being a good signing in comparison to Miller is pretty significant - He is far from proven after one half decent season but at least it was L1 - Miller has not even got remotely close to that, so the comparison doesn’t work.

You do realise that 99% of us slag ex players off and say they are dog turd, ( apart from Bury fans with Mr Mayor ).
Nice to see a good review, that said he'll probably not sign now.

From what I gather he’s available if the right price is met but for no less, he’s a decent L2 striker and a brilliant grafter but confidence, form and luck was abysmal last season.

My only comparison is that both were prolific non league strikers and, as yet, neither are proven league strikers. That’s all. I don’t give a flying fuck whether he turns out to be an upgrade not - that’s for next season to decide.

But I still bet you’d rather have Maynard and Walker.

And, yes, of course you know the attributes of your players better than I. That doesn’t apply to Cook, though. You don’t know yet.

I doubt Maynard and Walker together would work to be fair, we desperately needed a Cook style player like I said beforehand, Rose is pretty decent in the air but he’s not a big lad.

Paul Digby to Stevenage confirmed. Good utility player, big physical presence and also a top lad, so shame to see him go. Reckon he'll do well there.

Dom Telford would be a shrewd signing for anyone at this level.

Really feel for Bury, just hope it’s sorted out very soon.
I feel for Bury fans but their success was built on quicksand and some very dodgy loans and funding arrangements

One positive about signing Jacob Blyth is that Holly from Geordie Shore is his bird so will no doubt be cheering on from behind the goal
I can remember watching him play for Leamington. the trappings of success eh

Really impressive player in what was a shit season for us. I think the vast majority of fans wanted him to sign when we dropped into league 2.

Strong and powerful, I think he'll be a great signing (as long as Bury haven't broken him!)
He was shite at Bury, but so were most of the rest that year. Didn't give a flying feck but get him interested and he should be OK
